There was a cougar that would hang out by the creek that ran through our property in Hudson, Michigan. This was back in 2012-2014 when we had chickens.
I live in devil's lake area...a few years ago I went to run out to my truck around 6 am ... stepped out on my deck and was like wtf is that black massive cat lol
yeah, it's dumb they were basically extirpated east of the Mississippi but there tons of great Cougar habitat in Tennessee , North Carolina, Georgia and New York, Great habitat in Missouri and Arkansas as well and these two states can be a springboard to the East, Missouri has had a confirmed male in the state since 2012, it was captured by a raccoon hunter in 2012 wildlife officials took a DNA sample and let him go, back in March 2021 an Elk carcass was found in Missouri likely killed by a Cougar and DNA testing traced back to the same Cougar from 2012, that's a great story of a male Cougar thriving in Missouri for the last 9 years, they are protected in Missouri cause there is no breeding population
@@soggymuffinz6903 I live in Washington where cougars are pretty common. I know tons of people who spend lots of time outdoors, and I’ve only ever met two people who’ve seen one in the wild. They’re incredibly shy, elusive animals that avoid humans, to the point that they’ve been called “ghost cats.” You’re thousands of times more likely to be killed in a car accident than be attacked by a cougar.
I just saw one right out side of Glenn Arbor during the day 50 feet from houses and not the least bit scared of me. The DNR is full of crap and in full denial of the truth.
Probably the same one I saw near Cedar in winter 2021. It crossed the road into my hay field. Witnessed by myself and my daughter. No one believes it even exists.
I saw a news story some yrs ago about someone seeing a cougar and 2 cubs in the Northern Lower. And one was tawny and one black. I saw an adult in Kalkaska co. About 10 or so yrs ago.
First off Michigan isn't prairies, it's hills and forests and marshes. And you say this dumb statement because you either live in a city, don't have kids, or don't care about farms and farm animals, pets, or other wildlife. Jesus people are stupid...
No it's fucking not, just saw one last night that's why I'm looking this all up, me and my 5 friends had one try to sneak up on us and it screamed at us
There is only one large animal I would like to see roaming again is the buffalo. All these carnivorous things like cougars and bears , wolves if the city dwellers think thei nice , then make they should be dropped off with them.
Over 15 or 20 years ago, something was killing my uncles cattle near Leland Michigan, and I can’t imagine it was coyotes and neither did he based on the wounds, makes me think they’ve been here longer than we think they are just extremely elusive. To top that off though, I saw cat tracks myself there while deer hunting two or three years ago and they were from not small by any means.
You know cougars are an example of how a lot of people in America like to hunt for sport and since they have destroyed most animals here they travel to other places to destroy wildlife
I’m not doubting you saw something but I am 95% sure it wasn’t a mountain lion. There has never been a melanistic mountain lion in history. Possibly could have been a black bear or something more unknown like a cryptid
@Scott-tv6vcno bears what a joke go to the airport @ houghton lake like around 1130 this time of year fall end of summer you will see a bunch there I used to see 4 or 5 every night dropping co worker off some ppl go there to watch them lol
Theyve been here for at least 15 years because I saw one. My mother in law almost hit one. In Northville...DNR used to lie...they aren't here. Now its they're here but they aren't breeding. Next will be pics of cubs.. then will come the next lie
There are Cougars in Michigan I have a friend who's deer got eaten by a cougar and he has trail cam pictures of said cougar The deer was shot @ dusk as my friend thought he would go get the deer @ dawn So after breakfast we went out to his blind then proceeded to go track this deer which he says was 6 or 8 point We found the tracks in the snow then came upon other tracks found the deer which the cougar had kicked snow and leaves over to conceal The cougar had eaten the guts mostly out of the deer he took his drives out of trail cams 2 had pictures of said cougar it was a 6 point deer which we left for the cougar They are out there among other not known animals Peace n Love
I know this video's two years old but there's a breeding pair of cougars on the back side of gooseneck lake and I'm not going to say which county but when we seen the female she had led us away upon return to the first spot that we had cited her we had noticed lots of little tracks with her tracks so more than likely she let us away or he did
I saw a cougar walking in my neighbors yard here in Lansing Michigan on a sunny afternoon. It was a beautiful sight for sure, really exciting. Turned out to be my neighbor Jill, she came over and asked me over for drinks.
