As a local penang-nite, the places you went were absolutely legends! Highly recommend people from all around to world to check them out! Thanks mark for dropping by!
Initially this 'mamak mee' we called it in Penang was started by his grandfather 18:39. It was in a different location and was in Pulau Tikus coffee shop. When I was little my Mum used to bring me there, I'm a vegetarian his grandfather used to wash the wok clean before cooking a vegetarian version for me. His grandfather's 'mamak mee' is in comparable, he was a legend of 'mamak mee'. It's nice to see his grandson has taken over his legacy. Mamak mee goes best with black coffee🤩
Had to stop and rest during the nasi kandar scene. Almost feels like torture watching Mark dig in. Penang nasi kandar is the most addictive meal in the world. Miss it so much. Hope to return one day.
I’m Malaysian living in the UK. Watching your video at 6am is like torture for me. My belly cries out loud and rumbles just by watching you eat all that food
@@ayushfamily9683 I'm talking about all Mark Wiens videos about Malaysian food not just this video only india is indians flavors... india you mostly mixed spices but in Malaysia there's a mix and balance between Malay, Chinese & India among others and not too intense as india, then it blends in with traditional malay & also with Chinese tastes
@@ayushfamily9683 no food vloogers/youtubers go to india to taste different types of food.... they go there for indian foods but food vloggers/youtubers come to Malaysia to taste chinese food, indian food, malay food, south asian food .... our indian food is different because it is mixed with local here
I start to understand the pattern. After you put the food in your mouth, the longer you close your eyes the better it tastes. It is obvious that this Indian food is very delicious
The cheese over the roti canai is so unnecessary. As a Malaysian i really don’t understand the obsession at placing cheese on pretty much almost anything. Ridiculous.
Mark is so rich and famous he could bring his own silverware but he experiences food the way locals do, he is truly a travel food addict, thank you Mark for showing me the world's food I will never experience myself!!!
Mark - I just love how you appreciate foods from around the world. I love to travel with you with my eyes to all these amazing places to experience new culture and new foods. Excellent video!!
When Mark Wiens says something is award winning.. It's award winning. This man has had everything under the sun and his word is bond! Thanks Mark! You inspire me to want to travel more. Love your channel my brother.
Mark, in my opinion you should have gone to another Nasi Kandar joint...Nasi Kandar Restaurant Tajuddin Husain. It is just across the street from Nasi Kandar Imigresen, down an alley and slightly to the left. I personally think it has far superior tasting curries. If you like your curries thick and spicy then this is the place for you. If you are still in Penang and not yet sick of eating Nasi Kandar then have a go before returning home. You won't be disappointed..trust me.
@@jaam7722 OFC NOT xD im depressed i moved here a couple of years ago the food culture is practically non existent. aside from turkish Kebap for street food they have nothing else to offfer and almost everything is extremely pricey so eating out is almost never an option. it's culinary suicide to move to Germany if you're a foodie
like you said: if you're not sweating for breakfast in Pinang, it's not the right breakfast 😅 and you were sure sweating after that breakfast lol! lovely video! thanks for the upload
“But no! We need to power through”😆😆😆 I don’t know how you do it Mark, much respect…the foods look so delicious. Your travels inspires me to travel also.
Mark, your genuine appreciation respect for other cultures is so wholesome to watch. Your channel is a traveler's map. When am able to I;m definitely going to try some of places like hameed's that were featured. The dishes were so enticing😋
One difference of Indian food in Malaysia is that everyone involve in preparing the food and drink must have the compulsory typhoid injection and most must attend food health and safety course
even one day the Malay can't go without being racist. Malaysian-Indians have nothing to do with Indians in India. So why even say this? Malaysian-Indian food is also MALAYSIAN, not Indian. You can't find half of these dishes in India.
@@user-jt3dw6vv4x wait are you serious right now? I'm saying our Malaysian Indian food is better prepared because we have standardize rules for food health and safety.
@@yanputra83 Yes I am because why even compare it to Indian street food? This food is Malaysian food. They've been in Malaysia for generations and yet are still being compared to India, a country that didn't even exist when their ancestors settled in what is now Malaysia.
@@user-jt3dw6vv4xwelcome to racism 😂😂in comparison even though india have lot of healthy gud food but m not replying to someone who just not bothered to look
Yes, nasi kandar is definitely delicious, but I can only eat it a maximum of once a month due to the carbs and calories in one serving. It reminds me of Hameediyah at Bukit Bintang...yum! The red mee sotong, however, has too much artificial red coloring in it, which didn't really agree with my palate back then.
All vloggers help except a few I blacklisted. 1. Franc and sarah (now separated, serve them right) karma is fast. Australians. 2. Wild carlos - German. Rude.
As a Malaysian I felt left behind as I had not even tried eating at those fabulous places that U choose Mark. Surely I would try some of those yummy foods for my next Penang trip.
The cheese on the roti became westernize. It spoilt the whole purpose of eating the traditional roti canai. If I were to look for roti special, I would rather look for "Roti Sarang Burung". If translate into English, it is called Bird's Nest Roti because it looks like a bird's nest.
The BIG problem with roti canai - often times they will cook 30 or 40 at a time, put them in a cooler to keep them warm, and then pull them out as customers come in. And then they go on the griddle for a minute or two to warm them up, and the result is usually tough, stringy roti canai. For this reason I never order just plain roti canai. I used to order roti telur, but eventually they started mass-producing these too, so these days I get roti telur bawang, which they have to make from scratch. I suppose you'd be much less likely to have this happen to you if you went to a busy stall like the first one in the video, but beware - most Indian/Mamak/Nasi Kandar restaurants will do this, especially early in the morning before all the customers start coming in.
Mark I love your videos, I remember when I first discovered you 7 years ago, each time I watch your videos you make my day brighter, thank you very much and please never stop.
the legendary nasi kandar in Penang was call NASI KANDAR KAMPUNG MELAYU at Kampung Melayu, Ayer Itam, Penang.. Mark, if you still in Penang you should try once.🤗.. all over Malaysia people including our minister sure go to this Nasi kandar kampung Melayu if they reach Penang...😅
Ok someone pls confirm for me that mark does these videos over a period of days because absolutely not way can he eat all that food in a day!😮😮 my stomach hurt just watching home literally clean his plate for all the dishes he’s had. Personally after breakfast I’d be done for the day. 😅
When I visited steel foundries in India years ago, we were invited to a local restaurant. My colleague asked why so much onion was used. The answer: "That is against food poisoning but you should not be afraid" :-)
I raised 73k and Christina Ann Tucker is to be thanked. I got my self my dream car 🚗 just last weekend, My journey with her started after my best friend came back from New York and saw me suffering in dept then told me about her and how to change my life through her. Christina A. Tucker is the kind of person one needs in his or her life! I got a home, a good wife, and a beautiful daughter. Note: this is not a promotion but me trying to make a point that no matter what happens, always have faith and keep living!!!
Hey...Mark....love to watch u passionately gobble up the food in front of u..it just makes us salivate...but u know what...ur videos r a way toooo....long😅
@@tajjacobSame. When I was living in America and see them handle the pizza dough with their bare hands or when I had sushi in Fukuoka, with the master using his bare hand, it was good. Is there any difference in Asia?
Hello mark! So happy to know you come to penang again after so many years. I hv been ur fans since long long time ago, wld love to have any chance to meet u in person in penang! 😅
