I mean, Mio is describing the post-Season 4 episodes. Which just shows that she's enjoying the modern seasons. IIRC, she mentioned on this stream that she's watching Season 7(?) too.

@spongebobfan78 By recent years, I meant the stuff after the creator's passing. Everything after that just feels hollow.... Then again, I stopped watching SpongeBob a long time ago. But that doesn't mean I'm not going to be happy for those who do still enjoy it; as I said, I'm actually glad Mio is enjoying it~

Squidward is Ikardo. The "Squid" part was literally translated into Japanese. Also, as for localization, Bikini Bottom is called Bikini Town instead. Unrelated fun fact: Plankton and Sandy shares the same female seiyuu, even when they got replaced from the first movie onwards, the new seiyuu also voices the two.

​@@spongebobfan78I've noticed that Jp dubbing tends to slightly alter some character tones. Plankton has this always hyper-excessive tone of broad voice, but in Japan it's a bit higher in pitch. From an old game series I like, Ratchet and Clank, Clank being a small robot had avery broad and logical voice, in Japanese he seems to of gotten the same treatment, higher pitched, with slightly more emotional emphasis. When it comes to voicing smaller characters, Japan seems to make them sound like small children sometimes.

Some ID members played Battle for Bikini Bottom and talked about how they grew up with it as well. Truly a global cultural phenomenon. A good one at that. RIP Stephen Hillenburg
