Sometimes it’s worth buying the newest version of a product, others times you’re better off buying last year’s version at a lower price. After 12 months of using the M1 Pro MacBook Pro 14” as my main machine, I can tell you this is one of those times. Yes the M2 Pro MacBook Pro was just announced but the M2 Pro vs M1 Pro is a small upgrade. Nothing like the monumental leap that the M1 Pro MacBook Pro was compared to its Intel counterparts. Even better, now that the M2 Pro is out, you can get the M1 Pro at an even better price. The M1 Pro features a stunning new design, a wide range of port, powerful M1 Pro chip and 120hz ProMotion display - this is a very compelling all-round laptop. Today I’m going to share my long-term review and experience with the M1 Pro and tell you why I think this is a fantastic machine to buy in 2023. For some the slightly increased performance of the new M2 Pro will be worth spending the extra money on. But for most, I can highly recommend the M1 Pro MacBook Pro. As it delivers in all key areas, high quality design, incredible display, long battery life and still amazing performance - now at even better prices. Trust me, you won’t regret this purchase!

I bought the base model 14 for $1599 from BestBuy in December. I also saw that latest ones base model SSD is slower than mine so I', glad i didn't wait because then I'd have to spend more or get refurbrished

Bought my new (well, refurbished) 14 inch M2 MacBook Pro. I was planning on purchasing the M1, but at the time of my purchase, the M2 was actually the cheapest model available on Apple's Refurbished. Although I could have gone with something off Ebay, I chose to spend the extra money because I felt more secure buying from Apple, and because it decreased the shipping time from weeks to days.

Can’t ignore the annoying backlight shadows along the display edges though. And there’s also the wavy plastic piece between the hinges. Knowing how much Apple cares for the details of anything else, it is frustrating to think how those two design quality issues were glaringly overlooked.

I can play 12K RU-vid’s on my M1 Pro no problem. I just turned on the 8K earth video and it plays great. Remember that the screen is extremely good. And the speakers are great. I also was running Citrix work desktop at the same time. No hitches at all.

I picked up the 14 inch M1 Pro (8 core cpu) w/ 1tb of storage the day before they announced these new computers. I paid full price and it would be the same price for the new M2 Pro. I’m not sure if I should exchange it or not and I only have 1 day left in my return period 😬

I am a graphic deisgner and was debating between this 2021 model and the 2022 13 inch MBP M2. I am getting MBP M2 at $2019 with free airpods as a student while the only place I could find this 2021 version is on apple's refurbished list for $2299. I might be able to get a apple family discount from a friend of mine but I'm so lost on what to do now agh helpppp

It's faster in nearly every metric then even the highest end intel models from just a few years ago. For example the last high end intel model Apple made was the macbook pro 16inch i9 9980 HK. This model in Geekbench scores an average of 1078 cpu single core and 6786 in cpu mulit core. The base M1 Pro 14inch in geekbench scores an average of 1731 in cpu single core and an average of around 10000 in cpu milti core. As you can see this is a pretty massive difference. This base M1 Pro 14inch also beats out the previous MacBooks in GPU Metal benchmarks with a score of 40,000. While the intel 16inch scores around 30000 with a Radion 5500m. The only intel variant that beats out the M1 Pro 14 inch in regards to GPU Metal scores is the Macbook Pro 16 intel with a Radion 5600m with a score of 43000 and that is not by much at all. So you can see the base M1 Pro 14inch pretty much beats every intel Macbook Pro model from yesteryear. I also have it and it's an extremely capable machine.

Why soldered SSD? Why 3x-4x overpriced Storage per TeraByte. Apple 2TB SOldered SSD ---> 800$. On Amazon , Easily replaceable 2TB Samsung 980PRO 200$. Why just 1 year warranty on something as important as a Personal Computer? Why the repair of a faulty Dead SSD is Replacing the whole guts of the computer likely resulting in the customer paying half the price of the machine? Why people dumb and ignorant as shit?
