Stainless would make a heavier boat; it's aluminum. Very common construction material in the Pacific Northwest.

The boat is built to plans for "Candu-EZ" from Berkley Eastman.

@@luisaloma3532 This one was built for the owner of the company but, since, has been sold. I am no longer with Dearden Marine, but I'm sure you can call about commissioning a build.

@@360CrankI don't think "real" tug boats have "V" shaped hulls anyways, aren't they rather flat (ish) on the bottom? BTW, are there plans available for this boat?

@@bob2161 Old school tugs were quite fine and fairly deep forward and wound out to a flat run aft to make room for their rather large props. Generally. This vessel is really a toy, but surprisingly able for its intended use in inshore waters. The design is a Candu-EZ, designed by the late Berkley Eastman, and was really intended for plywood. As it happens, shapes that can be built in plywood lend themselves to plating up in aluminum quite easily. The designs were featured in the ads section of WoodenBoat Magazine for decades

@@360Crank thanks for the response. So, aluminum was not the originally intended build material. That's one heck of a modification. I've got some woodworking abilities, so I'd probably go that route since I have zero sheet metal experience. Though I have to admit that the aluminum definitely has a powerful cool factor. I will check out the Candu-EZ site for plans availability. Thanks again.

The noise was mostly from the Volvo powered crew boat which was the filming platform. The Minitug was a very quiet with a Honda outboard.

Cannot mmodify. It was loud but not the boat. It is really cute. Am not a hater
