If I ever went to sell my home I would rent at least 2 storage unit to take out 3/4 of my stuff. Then, I would repaint everything a neutral color. Open all windows, make it nice and bright. Clean like crazy. Hire a stager.

Love episodes like this where the sellers are not only understanding of their need to do some updating, but they actually agree and express that to Sofie respectfully. This couple was so grateful to her and her team!

Seven years ago, we emptied our house of everything, had new floors installed, and the entire interior and exterior painted. While the work was being done, we took the opportunity to go through all our "stuff" and decided what would go back in. Approximately 80% of everything was donated, gifted, or dumped. Not only did the house get a new lease on life, but so did we. We have not brought anything new into the house, but it's amazing how we always find items we have not been using and no longer need. Most of the time we all have the space to grow, we just don't stop to really look at the space objectively.

The plaster inlays are great, it's a shame they were removed. I know this is an old show, perhaps they would leave the inlays and highlight them these days, it's a unique characteristic of the house. Great views.

Outgrown? They seem to have two living rooms and two dining tables on top of two bedrooms...thats plenty of space, even before the remake....

I am trying to find ideas how to renovate my home. I have too much furniture; bookshelves, chairs, tables, everything just too much. I have to get rid of most of them. After that cleaning, painting, some fixing and then again cleaning. But first decluttering, it will be challenging but worth it

One bathroom, yikes! But it really is beautiful now. The only thing I don't like is the breakfast bar. I don't like eating facing a wall. I would have gotten a smaller kitchen table, maybe round. Other than that it's great.

you may like those wall decorations but not everyone else will so why would you make your target market smaller by having something so unique and quite frankly ugly in your home if you want to sell it!

The idea is to give the house a clean slate, and make it the most appealing to the largest number of people. True, there's some that may like the insets, but most likely won't. It's a matter of going for what's likely to appeal to most people.

Hello purple and yellow are complimentary colors. That I don’t like purple with the yellow walls is purely subjective.

Wow are they living in their granny's house those curtains in the living room are horrible they shut out too much light and make the room look heavy. Those things on the walls I would have just taken them out or plastered over them! What says I havent painted my house without saying I havent painted my house in 6 years...oh I know well the walls have a textured paint so we didnt bother! Rip out the fake fireplace and just make it one whole long wall of a light colour will make the room look bigger! The reason this house hasnt sold is because these people do not understand the concept of your house is your biggest asset so take care of it!!!

What a nice couple. I can see why people wouldn't like their house, but I can also see that they tried to mitigate some of the terrible pre-existing features as best they could. It's just a lot of work and expense.

They probably took it off the market after the makeover 😂 looks so much better. How much more space does a couple need! Even with kids that house looks plenty big enough

There are so many things wrong with this house that it would take too long to list it - but yellow ages a house. Think back to when people smoked cigarettes and Tabaco much more than they do today and it will yellow white walls, doors, etc... It hardly ever makes a room feel bright. I don't know what they were thinking with the curtains and the sofas and armchairs in the living room are too big. The treadmill (and any other type of exercise machine) is far too large for the space. I'm not a fan of exercise machines in general in homes because they never look like that they belong there.

PSA: wear a respirator when spraying paint. Keep the paint out of your lungs! Really surprised a tv show wouldn't have proper gear on while doing this!

Also a good idea to wear a respirator while cutting wood and sanding walls! Sheesh this show 🥴
