14 weeks in and Sable has learned two new tricks that are showcased in this video. Take a look! Sable is also starting to change physically and the "puppy" face is diminishing. Sable is also struggling with a BITING problem which you will see in this video. We are on the job though!

Wauw you are a great mentor for this little pupper! I taught my bordercollie/toller retriever mix to stop biting through engaging in an activity and once she starts biting I inmediately say a command "No!" and stop giving attention for 2-5 minutes. This can repeat numerous times with as little as 5 second intervals but when she got around the 2,5 month mark it already started to work and now she completely stopped. The good thing about giving a command for her to stop in my case: "no!" is that you can use it for numerous other unwanted behaviour like running off to random people or going on the street when you walk in a park. It worked out great.

Glad to hear you had success with "no!" - Such a powerful word! I bet your border collie/toller retriever mix is such a cutie and super smart! Thankfully, Sable's biting has pretty much gone away. She really only tries to give little nibbles when she gets too tired now.

She’s adorable. And so smart. Doing tricks without commands to get treats, clever girl.

You are doing an amazing job with training Sable, the only thing is if you aren’t doing this already, don’t give her treats every time she does a trick. She will only do tricks when there is a treat in your hand if she learns this growing up, so make her think “oh, maybe I will get a treat this time” so she is still willing to do the trick, and not unwilling if there aren’t any treats.

You're spot on - this is something I've learned as she's gotten older. Sable was the first dog I have ever trained, so it was definitely a learning process. I appreciate the feedback! I wish I could rewind time and tell myself to cool it on the treats a bit...

@@ADuckTollerNamedSable Ah, I see! She really has grown up into a beautiful toller, and you’ve trained her wonderfully. Love your channel, as I can relate to it with my toller that I have at home.

omg the weave is so good! if you wanted to earn titles for her, weave is actually an intermediate trick, and she’s already getting it at 3 months old!!

Thanks, Kaia! I like the term 'weave' instead of 'legs!' I am going to start using this!!

We really appreciate your videos. Our girl is 9 weeks old and we are learning so much through your videos. BTW is Sable shy to strangers? Our pup (NSDTR) is super shy with strangers.

Yes, she warms up quickly, though! She is VERY comfortable with strangers if they are in our home (new friends, etc), but if we are on a walk, she is very shy. She's never aggressive, but certainly turns to me for protection!
