What a tragedy, a young man enjoying a night out with his friends laughing and enjoying himself next minute gone , sending condolences to family members and friends RIP
Imagine having to watch your child fall to their death. I couldn’t imagine what kind of pain they are in. My heart goes out to the family. RIP to this boy. I’m glad he in a better place and not suffering.
I think it was the weight that caused the buckle to break. He was turned away 2 times because he was too big. Unfortunately the third time must've been with a ride operator that either didn't care or didn't realize the potential threat
They wanted his 20USD and never gave credence that for safety reasons he should have been denied entry as other venues at Icon park did. Parents should sue to close icon park to avoid another tragic event.
This is absolutely devastating. Imagine being told your child just fell to his death, I can’t even imagine the pain his mother/father is feeling. My love goes out to his family ❤️
Man, falling to your death is one of my top biggest fears, so I can only imagine what that kids was feeling in his last moments. That's equal parts terrifying and heartbreaking at the same time.
not only is it such a tragedy for the family, but i can’t even begin to imagine how the kid felt. may he Rest In Peace and may the family heal with time 🕊💜
Believe me theres a God and he took this kid soul Way before his body hit the ground he was probably touch by God just as he hit 420 feet!! God has a plan for some of us! This kid rn is in Heaven
This is absolutely heartbreaking! I can’t imagine how terrified that was for the kid before he died, and I can’t imagine how that affected everyone around him, especially his family :( My heart and sympathy goes out for the kid and his family
It's such a tragic incident 😔 but I heard that most people faint while falling, so they'll be unconscious & won't feel pain when they die. Although it was horrible for him to pass away like that, at least he wasn't in pain.
Just found out the kid was not allowed to go on the ride and was refused twice before this occurred due to being to big and heavy to go on the ride. then after trying for a third time he was allowed and everything did in fact work but because he was to big he fell.
Such a heartbreaking tragedy. As a parent, I can't imagine losing a beloved kid at any circumstances...the people who witness the tragedy on the accident site need help too...
I can't imagine being the other people on the ride, or a bystander, or someone in line....EVERYONE involved has been hurt, most of all the family. Completely avoidable.
My prayers goes out to the family of the fourteen year old boy God I sending you my prayers to the fourteen year old boy that fall off the ride at a amusement park to his mom and his dad send your blessings to his family and his friends keep them with you in Jesus name amen may god keep you guys near you amen
@@statistical-cats-sophia People doesn’t understand the risks they’re taken with these mega heart stopping, mind blowing types of rides. What’s next? A ride that will break all records free falling 500 feet straight down? How safe are they? You gotta give people what they want and freak accidents do occur no matter how much time is spent making sure all safety protocols are followed. Sadly in this case the kid was improperly seated, and now we see the damage inflicted. Condolences to the family affected by this first and foremost.
@@alvaroakatico9188 He was not "improperly seated." He was talking psychotically the whole way up. He was 14 years old and 6' 5" inches tall and over 300lbs. Plenty of strength to defeat the safety harness when the adrenalin is also kicking in. He panicked and jumped. The investigating Sheriff stated that they were searching into whether this was an accident or something suspicious and determined that, "This was just a tragedy."
Prayers to the family. I feel so bad for his parents. The kid was just trying to have a fun night and something like this happened. I also feel bad for those next to him because when they have to get off the first thing, they see is the kid.
Seeing the video for myself you can tell how desensitized society is becoming. The workers had no sense of urgency, nobody screamed, even the person filming the accident didn't even flinch when the kid hit the ground. Prayers up to this young mans family.
You gotta think how shocked everybody is too bro even his friends next to him your first though are “GOD IS THIS REAL , IS THIS REAL PLEASE DONT BE REAL” I think I would’ve been messed up in the first few seconds myself man
(1) The cameraman did flinch. The video shook. (2) Body hitting ground at 75 miles an hour is instant death. No need to be hurry. It’s already too late .
Ugh, this makes me so sad and infuriated... Those workers didn't even care, neither before nor after the incident. You can hear it in their voices... My heart goes out to this kid's family... 💔
I agree with hiring adults to work the rides from the comment above, but as far as “those workers didn’t even care” yes they did! You can hear it in their voices at the end, go watch the actual full video before you make characterised judgments of people.
@@jasmine-sheniquahawkins1751 The other workers did care but the one who's supposed to be checking that seatbelt didn't care and that's actually something that you can hear from (I think it's) his voice. So you're both right
That would’ve been absolutely terrifying for him as he fell. It’s disturbing that more people didn’t react with much urgency. Heart goes out to the family xx
It’s surprising that you’re projecting your own actions against other people, doesn’t mean they don’t care just some people act differently. How would them reacting help anything?
Not trying to sound insensitive but the kid splattered on the ground. Not much anyone can do besides call 911 in hopes there’s a slim chance of saving him. If you seen someone splatter on the pavement after falling out a ride I bet you’d be frozen in shock too.
To add too comments ahead of me, if something like this happens before your eyes, its better not to move the person cause you might do more harm than good, best thing to do is goes without saying call 911, momentarily if plausible make the person comfortable as much as possible by not panicking Infront of that said person, give space, 1 to 2 person would suffice on consoling the person while waiting for medical crew, its better to step aside to provide maximum flow of oxygen, that is if the person is still conscious but if not, try to look for a person that knows how to do proper cpr and chest compressions if there's none then the best option is to really wait for the professionals, Dude I'm no expert but i think these things should be common knowledge by now.
I am so sorry for the loss of this angel! My heart cannot describe the pain, such a young and innocent child. I feel sorry for his family ... May he rest in peace! He will never be forgotten!💔🥀❤

This is horrifying and makes me sick to my stomach. I can’t fathom the pain the family is going through and I know that was so traumatic for others to see too. Here is what makes me angry though: as the ride was starting up, someone said “seatbelts check your seatbelts.” Someone said “NO.” Yet the ride was still moving?! Are you kidding me?! This is negligent!
I thought the same thing, but after rewatching; the man in charge asked the passengers if they checked their seatbelts, and they said "No". Either it was a joke, because there are no strap seat belts, or he neglected to check them and was hoping they were secure. Either way, he obviously didn't check for security. Inexcusable!!
That the exact part that haunts me. This is like Final Destination come to life and I literally feel nauseous thinking about the ride going up while everyone was obviously not secured in their seats. His death could have been avoided and that's what makes it even worse. It's just such a horrifying way to go. I can't even begin to imagine.
I have a 15 yr old son. The original video was the most horrifying thing. The reaction from the ride crew is unbelievable. All the one girl says is didn't you check him?, calmly as can be.
The park needs to be held accountable at full extent … And also the workers working that night , did they not realize that the Safety measures were bad ??? This is extremely sad and disturbing

This could have all been avoided if the employees did their jobs correctly. There are safety measures for a reason, and obviously something was not done properly. This is why I don't get on rides like this or roller coaster rides because too many incidents keep happening like this were the operators aren't doing their job in making sure that everyone is safe before moving the ride. They should've checked everyone and made sure they were all safe before moving the ride not asked them if they are. The operators are suppose to do that themselves to make sure they have done it properly.
@@sweetreny1155 i hope you don't ride cars either,. otherwise your logic is very flawed. the probability of a car accident is WAY higher than the one of a rollercoaster accident.
@@piiinkDeluxe First of all my logic isn't flawed because when i ride in a car I make sure I put my seat belt on because the safety of my life is in my hands. Second of all when you go to an amusement park and go on these rides and hand the operator the ticket to get on we are putting our trusted in them to make sure we come back down safe and sound not to be lackadaisical about our safety.
@@sweetreny1155 i didn't argue that you might feel safer driving. I was talking statistics, a car accident ist WAY more likely. Rollercoasters are a controlled environment. and while accidents happen, they are super rare.
Knowing your harness isn’t fastened, that pause at the top, and the 30 degree tilt forward had to be torture. Panicking while everyone is cheering, and your friends know you’re falling out of your seat, but they cant save you because they cant move. Horrific. No amount of money could fix that.
In the full video, the ride conductor asks "Hey did you check your seat belt? On the left side, did you check your seat belt?" The kid is to the left of the conductor's view, and he's visible in the video.
I heard that as well, observed no physical evidence of cking harnesses of riders as well. Precautions are needed for all ages, sizes for the safest continuation of ride.
As someone who has a fear of height, this was extremely horrifying and tragic. This just convinced me even more to not ride thrill rides in theme parks.
@•アノマロカリス• (Anomalocaris) who cares I'm not taking the chance.. as much as I would like to go on these types of rides it's not worth the risk.. why put yourself in that situation. I would never take my kid to a theme oak with these dangers ides
@@ZacharyBoi the problem isn’t with the rides, it’s with the handlers not sufficiently checking saftey and being lax for over or under sized persons benefit. If you don’t fit in the range it’s not personal and you should not be allowed to ride. If a seats belt is broken, they shouldn’t use that seat, and possibly the whole car until maintenance is done. It’s a problem of operators being uncaring of inattentive, or over caring and they try to be nice and it ends in tragedy Water rides are a death sentence tho, avoid at all cost
I absolutely hate heights and avoid such situations. I refused going on a ferris wheel when I was 5. Almost passed out on the Harry Potter ride in Orlando. @@zazasworld8377 True... Accidents seemed more frequent since last year now that the COVID-19 pandemic is ongoing. A coaster youtuber (Coastoons) even made a video on it. Though I would want to go to one soon, knowing that I'm a big fan of amusement parks and am a rollercoaster enthusiast, I feel a little bit too paranoid with these accidents, even if I researched and found out all the reasons behind this one, I don't think I'd put my trust in them yet. Especially knowing that one of the main causes (from what I found) is ride operator negligence, I don't think I'd put my trust in them just yet until they are properly trained, though I am of a smaller stature compared to him. I just wouldn't want this to happen to people I know that are of similar size to him. I'll rather wait until COVID's impact is minimized until I set foot on an amusement park. The rides themselves are designed to be safe, but it's neglectful ride operators who don't follow guidelines that make it dangerous.
The older I get, the more I realize how incompetent people are. The designer, the maintenance crew, the operators, and the owners. The majority of your/ our law makers (legislators) are attorneys. Vote to elect non-attorneys to congress when you are old enough to vote. 2. Fix and overhaul the entire election process. Technology will not fix this. Only hand counting paper ballots, strict registration guidelines/ protocols, and a strict system of checks and balances will work. Some people will oppose this and assert voter suppression, etc.. Ignore them. The only way to make sure a person is eligible to vote and does not vote more than once is to prove their eligibility and to have strict rules for registering and actually voting. It was confirmed the safety harness wasnt properly locked in its the park fault for not checking on the boy meaning the cause for the boy's death was human error
This is what happens when you have negligent people working as operators. The safety aspect of the job goes away due to complacency. “Oh I’ve done this a thousand times. I don’t need to thoroughly check everyone.” So sad for that young man😔
I think it also has to do with the training or management of operators at the parks managed by slingshot group specifically, this is the second major accident at one of their parks within, like, a year.

@B Babbich I think this is about the safety checks and negligence. I have always been scared of rides. I live in Australia there was a tragedy on a particular ride (Dreamworld) that was deemed as 'safe' for people of all ages. The inquest found that there was negligence and deaths were preventable. You are right, things happen everywhere and we never know when it is our time to leave this world and fear is something we all need to overcome. Thank you and take care 💕

When my brother and I were kids we were on a ride at an amusement park and the safety bar came off as the ride was going. We almost fell out. I remember holding on to my brother because he's younger than me trying so hard to not let him fall out, but thankfully the guy who was operating the ride noticed and stopped the ride. We were not hurt physically, but we were pretty traumatized by the experience. We never went on that ride again. I feel sorry for the 14 year olds family. This is devastating.

I used to work at six flags especially Goliath and I would have common sense to check everyone's safety before starting the ride. If I knew you were above the weight limit and couldn't click your belt or bar then I would not allow you to ride. I had to escort one man off the Goliath coaster because of that and he kept begging saying he'll hold on to the bar tight and I said NO you have exceeded the weight limit and I cannot click your bar! The operators only checked a few people instead of everybody based on what I saw. It don't matter if customers say they're good. CHECK THEM!! All this could've been avoided. PAY attention it's common sense. My condolences to the entire family 💔🙏🏾

This poor family! How horrible to lose your child like this! I swear on my life something similar almost happened to me when I was a kid. I was at a very popular theme park in Ohio, and was on a ride that would drop you at least 250 feet in the air, and in the middle of going up, I realized my buckle wasn’t latching correctly and came undone. The large metal harness that went over my shoulder started coming up and I was screaming to stop the ride, but I don’t think the operators understood. My friends on either side of me were panicking along with me, and we got the metal harness to come back down and I buckled back in just in time to drop. That was the single most TERRIFYING moment of my life. I will NEVER go on one of those towers ever again!
me too. no one believed me. i was on the viking boat ride where it rocks back and forth and my bar on my bench fcking gave out. i started screaming like crazy until the ride ended. if wasnt holding the seat for dear life i wouldve fallen 100%

That sounds like cedar point or King's Island. Some people tend to NOT pull the shoulder harness or seat belt tightly, the auto closing harnesses sometimes allow you to pull down another notch or two for tightness. There are many distractions while mounting these rides. Maybe a video while people wait in line would help
that explains it, there should be at least two seatbelt points for extra security, a strap and the over the shoulders thing.. these seats just look small and leathery, something you could slip right out of.
So sad, nightmare… condolences to the family. This should have never happened. I’m always afraid for my 12-year- old son too, he always goes for the dangerous rides in theme parks.
This is so heartbreaking and honestly could've easily been prevented if the operators did their job properly. See this is why I've always been scared of these teens and their lax attitudes when operating rides at these parks. I be double checking my kids and my belts some ride operators just don't care.
You know how the air hostess on airplanes goes to every seat and checks for people's seatbelts before take off and landing. Why didn't they do something like this? Also, the guy literally kept asking "have you checked your seatbelt on the left side?". Looks like he knew something was wrong. Was there no emergency stop button at this point of time?

I think they were trying their best to keep the situation under control and not have too many people gather when there’s needed to be space for healthcare/first responders to help that little boy. Plus I think they were in shock-imagine that happening on your shift. someone said "are you sure you checked him?" then he said yes but what really happened is that HE DIDNT CHECK IT HE TOLD HIM TO DO IT BUT ITS WAS TO LATE the nerve the workers have there is unbelievable.. this is absolutely traumatizing.. all love to that family ♥️
Exactly the dialog says it all. They were going up and he said his “seatbelt” did not click and wasn’t on. Why didn’t the worker stop the ride then and there it’s not a hard task. They are able to do it.
They could've used its emergency braking functions it but I guess they didn't think of that, they really need more professional operators and not just kids running these machines.
There are no checking procedures at all before the ride. That guy there is just chit chatting with some of the participants about the thrill and excitement, but he's not doing his work and he is doing nothing to check for the safety of all the riders. There are evident design flaws with this ride too. There’s no seatbelt between the legs to hold the harness down. Falcon Fury on Busch Gardens is a very similar ride, and I have done that many times. Falcon Fury does have seat belts on every seat, in the middle of the legs, to secure the harness down and it is locked in place and can only be open again when the ride is fully stopped. Workers at Busch Gardens check every single seat before and after the ride. This could have been prevented. The ride needs to be shutdown permanently.
I was noticing that it didn’t have the belt between the legs either. Every tower/shoulder harness ride like that I’ve ever been in had the extra buckle in case the shoulder restraint were somehow able to release.
They built the highest drop tower in the world where they send children up to tilt them and then rush them down at 75 miles per hour with a sudden stop and they put 2 teenagers in charge of it.
Poor baby. Lord heal this family and the pain they must be feeling put healing hands upon them and take care of this boy for he’s in your hands now ✝️❤️

We never know the time that a loved one will be taken from. Respect to this young man who had such potential
I've been on a ride like this, but it had a belt that clicked on the one I rode. As a formerly overweight child, I've been kicked off of plenty of rides (thankfully.) I'm 5'6 & was about 240 at the height of my obese childhood... You're telling me this kid was over 6 ft. & about 350 lbs & they let him on??? How?? The workers always made me try the tester seat in front of the ride first. I feel so sorry for him & his family. They should have turned him away. I also think that these kinds of jobs, where lives are at risk, should not belong to teenagers. Let them run the gaming stations & hand out the teddy bear prizes & get professionals on these rides. Will have to bring the pay up, but the parks can afford it. Stop cutting corners.
@@Makaveli1996RAP The ride will not operate if the safety harness is not fully locked into place. @Inactive. I'm guessing that you are not a BLM which is why you were turned down. Try turning away a BLM now, and hear the screams of "racism" and watch cities get burned and looted.
and this is why I have an anxiety attack every time my boyfriend takes our son on any ride or even a water slide. I think of the worst thing that could happen.
Ride operator is mainly responsible for this. The harness should have been manually checked before dispatch. There is a chance that these seats do have sensors on them that would create a fail safe event if a harness is not latched properly. If that is the case, the sensor could have have failed or if it is partially mechanical like a limit switch, got stuck in the down position, showing the harness was lowered enough to be latched. Either way, this is a very sad event that could have been avoided had some care been taken for the riders safety. RIP, and prayers to the family of this poor child.
It is for sure the operators fault. This kid should never have been allowed on. You can see his harness does not go down properly because of his weight. Such a tragedy. My heart goes out to everyone who loved him and the ones who had to see this happen
The seat likely was "locked", but from what I understand the individual was very obese. Thrill rides have never been made to accommodate obese people, which is why almost every person who dies on an amusment ride is obese. Simply put, he should have never been allowed on the ride
@@ireapzz9297 Not really a manufacturing problem, at least I doubt it. It's on the park and the operators for letting him go on the ride. There's probably a weight limit that the manufacturer discosed to the park when they sold them the ride.
This is such an upsetting tragic story. I can’t imagine how his family feels :(. Especially since they weren’t even with him. His parents allowed him to travel with friends in hopes of their son having fun time then suddenly they find out that their son is dead. Shame on the operators. I was literally on that ride two weeks ago and they didn’t really make an effort to see that we were all buckled in safely. When I sat down I felt a little anxious because I wasn’t sure if I was fully buckled in properly. The operator is so stupid.
That is heartbreaking. My son was only 12 when he was allowed on a similar ride in a theme park called Camelot here in the uk. If it wasn’t for his dad holding him in because his shoulders were too small to fit safely inside the harness he would have fallen out. Unfortunately the week after the same happened to another lad and he did fall out. The place has shut down after that but this horrific death will only result in irresponsible employees being fired, safety measures being implemented until they get lax again and another irresponsible person doesn’t check the seatbelts and someone else loses a child. Praying for the mum and dad who have to endure this now. Their lives will never be the same.
What on earth were you doing allowing a child too small for the ride to go on it?????? In the US, there are signs with size requirements plainly displayed at the entrance to rides.
This is so, so sad. Rest in Heavenly peace young man, you had your whole life ahead of you. Life is too short, hug your loved ones and let them you love them. God Bless ❤️
