Pretty amazing!!! There are pure gems here. This is a huge work. I would suggest to make another example vídeo, "no talking" style, playing some lines with the most significant and differenced ones, maybe 50-75 of them, for promoting purposes only. Excellent collection🔥🔥🔥!!!

do you think the korg modwave actually sounds better than the modwave vst running on a powerful pc?
@kcrosley
@kcrosley 2 месяца назад
Hey @CrusaderGeneral, no, they essentially sound identical, which makes sense as they are basically running the same software. The only difference would be the output stage. (On the hardware modwave, you have a headphones and a stereo pair of analog outputs. Running on a PC, the quality of the audio out would depend on your audio interface. When running in your DAW and you print the modwave VST track, the actual bits being written there would be theoretically "perfect" and not have anything at all to do with digital-to-analog conversion, etc.) I've had access to the modwave VST from its first beta and I did identify an edge case where -- at least to me -- a certain patch of mine sounded different in the software than in the hardware, but Korg wasn't able to reproduce that and I don't find it to be the case with any of my own patches. I am one of those people that actually *likes* the form factor of the modwave (and wavestate) hardware, so I like both the hardware (as a nice hands-on interface for programming patches on the couch/away from the computer) and the software (as it can have access to a ridiculously huge library of wavetables that you couldn't fit all into a hardware modwave at the same time).

I was watching one of your videos on Zebralette 3 from like 10 days ago, then got lost on a forum, ended up on Gumroad and here i am again. Seems like all roads lead to your channel ! Can't wait to load them into Vital/Current and make some new ones out of them with the Spectral warp modes ! Crazy crazy work tysm ! 🙏🏻

@@engageguignol7847 thanks for subbing! Yeah, I’m prolly the new wavetable guy. 🫡🤷‍♂️ Next up: Even though it’s not exactly my fave genre, an insanely deep dive into vowel/formant/growl/wub/“color bass” wavetables… made with math, of course!

Hey Now ! I'm in the nub stage in wavetables : so .. will your collection be compatible with Prop EUROPA? It seems like EUROPA is most nub friendly 😁 Cheers 🥂
@kcrosley
@kcrosley 7 месяцев назад
Hey there @EBMZEQUENZER. AFAICT, no, because Propellerheads Europa does not support wavetable import. It would seem to be limited to its built-in wavetables (I don't know how many there are) which are 8 waveforms each. It does allow importing of user samples, which it then plays back with a granular engine, but those are not wavetables. Docs here: cdn.reasonstudios.com/site-static/pdf/operation-manuals/europa-by-reason/Europa-by-Reason-Operation-Manual.697e0a96af53.pdf If you're interested in exploring third-party wavetables, you should choose a different wavetable synth.

@ey it has user waves for wavetables and user waves smooth for audio files in the drop down tab : I don't know if that helps, Cheers 🥂

Thanks for the kind words! Work continues on this with new ideas and my “VAE” (AI-created wavetables). So the collection has more than 46,000 wavetables now and… PS, it’s still on sale in my reverse Black Friday sale (currently, save $10) at www.wavetables.lol/l/wavetables/revblack1

@@kcrosleylol I didn’t purchase this. If I had I would be very put off my your rude comment to a customer. I was making a simple observation. It seems like you are the sensitive one. Btw my original comment stands. Many of these wavetables are slight variations from each other. Although, that’s not a terrible thing since they were free.

@@jordanrattanavong2655 In some instances it's a use case scenario. For example, if you want a more bell-like wavetable you might want less deviation from one frame to the next so it starts with more inharmonic type frequencies and ends on fewer harmonic partials. And in the case you might morph thru those fairly quickly, or exponentially (sharper more complex attack settling into a warmer timbre). For larger pad timbres you might want much larger deviations between frames, some with only a few partials with randomized strengths & others with large numbers of partials (can create the illusion of band-limited noise) and then morph threw the table very slowly. This can produce really full timbres that sound very much like they're being randomly filtered without actually using filters. Not trying to talk down to you, you might already be well aware of this, just thinking out loud.
