I do pause snatches / pause cleans to really feel the position i'm supposed to accelerate. Extend to early and the bar starts flying forward, extend to late and your pull will be weak.
You do pause snatches because you have grown tired of conventional snatches. You still do snatches because that is the standard, but you hate yourself so much when you do them because you feel like you are giving in to some abstract machine that expects you to snatch. But you give in anyway, and every time you do, you feel like you die a little inside. You no longer recognize the man staring back at you in the mirror. You hate the younger version of you that made the choice to snatch that you are now a slave to. You feel alone in a crowd. Life has lost its meaning and pause snatching is the only way to hope to regain some semblance of zest for a life that no longer feels worth living.
