This is "La Foi", Op. 95, No. 1 by Georg Goltermann.
A special thank you to a supporter and regular commenter on videos and livestreams, Ernesto G. Thanks for pointing this pieces out to me, which I previously had no knowledge of.
Also, thanks to my Dad, who traveled 8,000 miles to visit me on the other side of the planet. We played a bunch but never really practiced this number quite as much. I thought we might get back to it one more time before he had to return home, but unfortunately did not. Thankfully, I did record nearly everything with my voice memo app whenever we sat down to play together. This is that rough play-through.
Although I can be heard sliding in to nearly every note (I blame my cello's nasty condition on most of that, yes, it really is hard to play at--for the past four years!) I am thankful that I have at least this rendition to share.
One of my main goals of this RU-vid channel, Traveling Cello, is to play ALL of Goltermann's music and upload it as videos. This video is only audio, lol, yes, yes, I know, so it only fulfills half of that objective, but I will eventually get it filmed.
Thanks to my Patreon supporters as well. They are few at the moment but have stuck with me for several years as of this publishing (Aug. 2024)!
/ shop
Above is the direct link to my Patreon shop where I have listed a number of PDF's for download. Please consider purchasing a set of beginner etudes or an arrangement of "The Swan" for cello quartet or all of Bréval's six sonatas, Op. 40 (the cheapest edition available only $12 for six sonatas and a total of 80 plus pages of music--Cello 1, Cello 2, and Score included).
Thanks for watching and listening. Write your comments or suggestions. I read every one.
