These guys were awesome... I was based at Mount Pleasant where they were based and you would know when they took off. I was also lucky to be at Mount Alice during the same tour and they buzzed low. Holy moly the noise from the F3’s was amazing. I can’t even begin to imagine what the Typhoon is like now they’ve replaced the F3’s.
Now with 2 aircraft carriers the Falkland Islanders can enjoy the peace they deserve! Well done the joint armed forces. Major General Julian Thompson was right in 2012 to state having no carriers would put the islands in danger. Now at last we the correct balance of army navy and aire force! Pax Británica
The idea that the historic British Royal Navy without any aircraft carriers is just sad.....I must admit that as American with Irish ancestors they served in the British Army rather than the RAF or the Royal Navy.
Brilliant brilliant brilliant...... The mighty F3..... Used to go down south around October/November to do fuse and wing change.... Great days..... Made some cracking pals on 1435..... Also catching up with mates I'd joined up with or just knew......... The RAF has changed for the worst, SADLY......... Too all who who served, live long and prosper..........
Yes a British ship. It would have been a Castle Class patrol vessel. Either HMS Leeds Castle or HMS Dumbarton Castle. The Castle Class have since been replaced in the Royal Navy. The two Castle Class vessels were sold on to Bangladesh.
@kdum8 are there really 4? i've been told that they only have two by someone who works on the eurofighter. i dont see why they would need more than two down there either.
@spostgate I've never heard this track, but most of the lines are references to many new testament doctrines as taught by Christ. It is not subtle at all, there can be no question of it's message. "Don't store any more treasure in this world" "Store it up high in the sky" It sounds a bit like R.E.M., but they're agnostic at best, so I doubt it's them. Christian rock music is hated by so many people that it's hard to find info, you need to be clever to find it. I'll try more & let u know
@stephenpprice Well four were reported by the news and the MOD. I would be very surprised given un-serviciblity rates and general maintenance if there were less that that, but of course it is possible. Things are always changing.
I was on 1435 Flt in '97, my mate got a bollocking for Sellotaping Bondu (the cat) to one of the chairs in the "Q" crewroom. LOL Lazy little shit. Was the other cat called Snowy?
@RomelioSanzz it's a pity that the hard times are already knocking english people's doors. Soon even 1435's pilots will be among in the unemployed line in london!
