Lovely mold. Beautiful color combo, gorgeous result. Wasn’t sure about the dark color backing with the dark bloom but you always know best. Forgot about all the opaque petals. Blessings!

These are lovely. Colorants don't spread like inks do. They are two distinctly different things. However, they stay better than inks also. Most inks fade. Hopefully, these stay pretty.

Thanks for the detail about using too much white colorant. I’ve been experimenting with the bloom technique lately and not been pleased with the results due to the white looking beautiful early on but then sinking as it cures. I have several types of white colorant and have tried several combinations of them, but it didn’t occur to me to try and use less overall.

Love the colors. I use the Sig Wong colorants. I haven't made coasters yet, but I do make bowls and plaques I put into picture holders to sit on my tables. I use lots of glitters with them too. I learned a lot today, Julie. thank you, girl! You may have solved a problem I have been having with all the resin I have tried. Smudginess/oily looking finishes on my paintings. Going to try the heat wand on one of my finished pieces to see if it will help remove that as well as fingerprints, but before I do that, what is your opinion about that idea? Would be nice if it works. I live in the Southern US. May be the problem, it is hot and humid here now. Getting lots of rain, cold in the winter. We get all four seasons. It has to be a factor, because I am not using any oil in the paints. The resins are ALL doing the same thing. Help❣LOVE your coasters. Beautiful.

When you make these why do you have the resin warm? What kind of resin do you use? Thanks

Alcohol changes the surface tension which causes anything on top of it to naturally gravitate to the outer edges. If you look at a coffee stain ring and see that’s darker on the edges well this is the same principle.

I have inks by sig wong and some colors are great while others are total fails. I've also been having problems with tacky resin and now I'm wondering if the ink has anything to do with it.

Good tips for getting rid of finger prints I need to start taking notes on your color combinations.

The purple pulled through the white is gorgeous! I really like how the blooms look when you do the piping bag in circles and pull through. I really love how these came out.

They're not going to spread out because it's not an ink it's a liquid pigment that you're using I've used SigWong for a long time dropping liquid pigment directly to the resin and your coasters came out quite beautiful.

Beautiful, Julie! Just stunning! It looks a bit like star. Love the bloom, love the petals! I love the glittery, blue background...just perfect, Julie! Yes, what you got is epoxy DYE colorant, rather than a pigmented colorant. Dyes are much more light-fast. What you can do, if you need more "spread", is to premix the needed drops of dye in little medicine cups with a drop, or a few (depending on amt of dye), of 99% alcohol. The alcohol will evaporate (so, work quickly), but should leave the colors still light-fast and unadulterated in hue (other than they will be more spread out).

I'm JEALOUS, I want to come to your workshop! Oh, I bet you could use those colorants to make your own alcohol inks. I've heard that a lot of people do make their own inks. I'm really liking how these are looking while wet. They're awesome. I love the color in the points! Beautiful, Julie. xoxoxo

Julie, I'm so glad you got these colorants for resin. After watching your channel for a while I went to Amazon and bought those same resin colorants. I had the same experience when I used them with the haze on the top/bottom of the coasters. I ended up putting them back in the molds and let them dry another 24 hours. The haze dried and they turned out really pretty. I used the chameleon powders from Let's Resin mixed in with the SigWong colorants. I tried to make an E in the coasters, but the resin moved and it looked like a butterfly 🦋 instead. 😆 I also had to use 10 drops in the resin cup for the color to be more opaque. I'm glad you had the same issue, so I know it wasn't something I did. After that experience I purchased white cotton gloves off of Amazon to handle the resin when I de-mold them to avoid finger prints. ❤ I love watching you resin and create your blooms.

Oh, Julie, these are beautiful! I wasn't sure that the white was going to spread, but it did, making these amazing coasters so gorgeous. I have only done resin once and am anxious to try some flower coasters but I'm too scared that I'm going to mess up so I keep putting it off, lol.

Love these and thank you for the lesson on the resin blush. Now I wanted to also comment about the inks, are they dyes? If so they are supposed to be used similar to a paste. Basically to change the color of the resin before use in the mold. I mean you wouldn’t add resin to your mold and the add paste to it then right, same concept with resin dyes. However the thing I’ve learned is that dyes color the resin but it is superficial unlike paste. Paste is made with resin so that is different and they actually change the resin color meaning after setting or while setting up they won’t lose their pigment while dye and inks can and some do. Hope that helps though I’m pretty sure you know this but I just thought I’d share. ❤️❤️❤️

These turned out really pretty! The resin pigments won’t spread like the inks but they worked well anyway! I always wonder what they would do if I just dropped them. Thank you so much sharing your test of them!

My favorites! Julie, those are not inks they are pigments. Made to mix into the resin for color. I did what you did, and the colored spots never cured. It was a pool of good. Use inks not pigments for this purpose.

I notice you always say how much epoxy you made up but it is in grams. Is the kind you use measured by weight and not volume? Or do you just know the conversion of volume to weight for each part for the total amount you want to make up?
