As an update, we are aware that the Hau has been relisted. We're gonna wait until it sells to do an update video. Thank you all for the information and for your patience! -Eljay
Dea god, if someone is willing to pay this much for one of the 14k gold Hau, imagine Hau much someone might be willing to pay if the Platinum Avohkii gets put back up on sale again...
It was a goodwill auction, so a part of the reason it reached that high is because it's tax deductible as a charitable donation. If the market value is $3,000, then they can make a claim for $30,000 tax deduction
I'm surprised you guys haven't talked about the rumors of Bionicle coming back next year or the new Cryoshell song, or don't you know about either of those things?
Man, that is a lot of money all for a rare mask! Whoever purchased it and managed to get that amount of money has my utmost respect and gratitude for doing this! Long live Bionicle!
At this point any rare piece is pretty much worth whatever you can convince someone to pay for it, the only limit is finding someone who’s willing to pay whatever amount you sell it for
@@styrofoam9981 Yes but as a prototype, like the one that came with the Sand Tarakava(numbers on the front of the mask). You can look it up, made a post about it. (Btw, my comment was gone, so this is a rewrite )😅
If anyone is curious, goodwill raises prices by bidding on their own lots. It's really shady. So whoever actually wanted this, paid way too much because of goodwill
Most auctions are like that, they artificially inflate the prices in order to get a better deal for themselves. If no actual bidder wins over their own placed bids, then the auction is basically cancelled. Its a way for sellers to navigate around low bids for stuff. Its a bad practice, at that point you should just put a fixed price.
It’s so you can make it a necklace, it’s got a hole on both sides and I believe the ones that were given out originally came with a chain to put through it. I can’t really imagine a collector wearing something so valuable in public though
This just proves once again that there is still money in bionicle, and people out there who are willing to pay this much for it! Thanks for coming out of hiatus to host this one, maybe LEGO will soften a little after seeing the extent fans will go to get bionicle and bionicle related products, it's a very small chance, but a chance nonetheless... (P.S. it probably was Duckbricks lol)
I mean there’s still a big difference between a few fans being willing to spend thousands of dollars and having millions of people around the world be interested in a theme. Lego could make a good few thousand dollars from the relatively small amount of Bionicle fans, but that wouldn’t be worth it to them. For them to consider a product to be a success they want millions of people around the world to be willing to buy it but that doesn’t seem as likely to happen with Bionicle today
People like this are killing the hobby by making it inaccessible for the vast majority of fans by inflating aftermarket prices. Oh sure you don't need a gold Hau...but things like this happen for regular sets that are old and have damaged parts.
@@Bionickpunk definitely, there’s so many pieces that I want just because I think they look cool or would work great in a moc, but they’ll be so expensive that I can’t even consider getting them. Some people are so concerned about using Bionicle as a means to make money that they’ve ruined it for all the people who just enjoy the hobby and want to build things
