Keynote interview with George Logothetis, Executive Chairman of Libra Group; Chairman of Libra Philanthropies, moderated by Adriana Martinez, Founder and Director of the LEA Festival, on Libra Group’s global business, which is guided by Greek values, including its approach to sustainability and innovation.
George discussed the Group’s diversification, starting with one maritime company and growing to 20 subsidiaries today to work in nearly 60 countries. George explained, “Many partners choose to work with Libra Group because of its Greek values that we espouse,” including family, honor, and perspective, and says, “Greek values, when properly dispensed, can help change the world for the better in many ways.”
Reflecting on challenges faced in Greece, George emphasized perseverance and recounted a meeting with Christine Lagarde at Concordia, where he urged her to adopt a broader perspective towards Greece, beyond the lens of digits and the financial crises, motivating the halt of the Asset Quality Review (AQR) for Greek banks. He also talked about the Libra Internship Program, which Libra Group created during the Greek financial crisis to help change the narrative and provide opportunities for young Greeks.
As Chairman of Libra Philanthropies, an independent foundation and the sister organization of Libra Group, George highlighted the launch of "It Takes Courage,” a catalyst partner of Libra Philanthropies that spotlights acts of courage that echo the heroism displayed by the Greek people during World War II.
