exactly! I remember my friend bought a used orange RS4 6-7 years ago for 8000€ thinking its a bargain and will sell it quickly for far more. I think he still owns it and has spent a fortune on maintenance costs and cannot sell it. Will never forget when he was coursing the day he bought it as he had to pay some silly part 4-5 times more then regular Audi as this one is special. :)

yves 1984 They can’t, but they’re young and think it’s worth taking the shot to fix them. Once you do this a few times you’ll choose the Toyota or Tesla product and be done with repairs.

@@tripleg8716 15k for a car isn't shit. Between taxes, insurance, gas and ROUTINE maintenance a car like this will cost you 4-5 thousand more per year compared to a brand new car in that price range. And that's glossing over the inevitable catastrophic failure of some gearbox/engine/suspension that will have your mechanic tell you it's not worth it to repair the car. So you better consider another 15k as lost money when you buy one of these.

Before 2006 the maximum you pay is around £330, so not that much of a worry. I also pay just over £200 to insure an LS430, so thats not bad either.

@@straightbusta2609 the v10 is share the same parts with the R5 2.5tdi found on the touareg /transporter and crafter so parts are always available, and if maintained correctly it will last forever, my v10 touareg has 328000km on the clock with no serious issues

I have and love the Range Rover P38. Out of all the cars I have had it is the only one that I enjoy driving. But I have a wonderful group of friends who with me are able to keep it going at a reasonable price. The parts for the car are ludicrously cheap, from specialist, so with a bit of handy work and a lot of help from my friends the car is an affordable delight.

I posted a couple of items on there only because I wanted them gone! I'd never buy a car on there, unless I was going with a mechanic to give the car a full check over!

That’s not true actually. If you’re prepared to buy a 10 year old car you can get a whole lot of luxury for very reasonable money. Stupid people buy brand new budget cars when the same money will buy a much better older car. For the money I spent on a 3 year old bmw I could have bought a brand new Kia picanto or Toyota Aygo. No way I was going to buy one of those 💩 boxes over a 3 series for the same money.

Don’t go with the AMG. They are money pits. Go with something like an E500 (biggest non AMG engine). They will be more reliable and won’t have the £1000+ AMG specific parts that AMG’s have.

I just bought a 2012 (62) Mercedes SLK with 46k miles for £11200. Looks way more expensive. I had a 2017 Zoe prior to that and sold it for a lot more. There is a huge difference in running costs but it kind of proves your point.

Things I do when I check the condition of a used car online: - I look at the general reliability of the vehicle model - I look up the MOT history of the vehicle online via the gov. website so that I am aware of the reliability of a specific car.

I live in Australia and cars are incredibly expensive over here so I’m marvelling at the fact you can buy a Bentley for about $30,000 (GBP-AUD conversion) in the UK. For context, a Bentley Flying Spur in Aus would cost about $72,000

One thing I’ve learned is just because you can afford the sticker price does NOT mean you can afford the car! My mum learnt that the hard way!🤣 servicing costs a bomb so does insurance, rego etc. with more expensive cars if you can’t afford it new, you probably can’t afford it used either.
