We sometimes jokingly refer to Microsoft Edge as "Chredge" (Chromium + Edge = Chredge). No insult is intended by this and as usual no puppies were harmed in the making of this video. :) Thanks for watching!
We've used the Microsoft Edge Chromium from the beginning of its first release version updates until now, after we found out that it consumes less memory than Google Chrome.
After trying Vivaldi, Brave, Avast, Waterfox (Firefox policies drove me away from them), Edge has become my default browser. I learned a few tricks in here, and want to add that several of the voices included with Edge for use in Immersive Reader are extremely good. (Although I'm in the U.S. of A., MS Natasha with the 'Straya accent is an excellent voice.) The Reader View extension by Yokris also taps into these voices as well. Also, some browsers have "notes", but I haven't been pleased with those. Collections will let you keep going, adding stuff. I haven't tried the limits, but I have quite a few in one collection for research on an essay. Also, Collections lets you add text notes with rudimentary formatting, but don't expect to write huge amounts of text. Just add another note.

Make the "About Microsoft Edge" menu option a tab that you don't close and the default tab that opens when you open Microsoft Edge. That way, you're always up to date with the latest version of the browser.
I quit using Google Chrome altogether when I started using 'New Edge' browser. I do use a few Google extensions on Edge. Excellent information...thank you! Always look forward to your videos.

Thank you for sharing these tips. I learned quite a few of them 😊🙏😊🙏 I started using Edge for the vertical tabs. Beside Vivaldi, Edge is the other browser that has vertical tabs. But their implementation would have been perfect if the collapsed mode didn't auto expand on mouse hover...
I use Microsoft Edge from the beginning from I bought my laptop. There are actually Firefox and Google Chrome pre-installed too but I never use it unless I want to use a different account on the same website like opening two Twitter/Facebook accounts at the same time in a different browser.
After seeing the beautifaul updates of Microsoft Edge and the new features. I will say this is the browser that many people are watching and waiting for. It has some extension in the basic which chrome doesn't have only in addition with an extension. And Microsoft Edge comes from Microsoft Windows and has less memory cache loading behind the tabs. And the biggest thing I only used chrome for the big support of extensions and the fast tabs to open. But the time has changed and I think chrome has hard time after Microsoft Edge can download his extensions. As always thank you for the video and I will change my default browser.

@@lokeshreddybonthu1348 yeah but still the possibility of using this setting is not in chrome. It's only possible if you have extension or you make all sites not taking third party cookies in chrome. And here it can literally take the cookie but with less permission to follow and this is awesome. By the way I never said something about cookies but thank u for the explanation. 😉👆
Most Chromium-based browsers have an annoying habit of taking up screen real estate with download notifications at the bottom. Edge recently changed that so they are at the top, very similar to Firefox/Waterfox, and they obediently hide if you click anywhere. They can be accessed through the menus if you need them again.
I have 6 browsers on my 8gb laptop According to my test, 1. Netcliff - Loads faster , Less disk usage but Less features (Netcliff is browser I made in c#. ) 2. Edge- Fast and good 3. Opera - Great UI , pre built ad blocker 4. Chrome - good and slow . Uses more disk 5. Firefox- Nice UI

The only feature I think Edge lacks is the customization. I cannot flexibly change the new tab's home page as I want unlike chrome. The search bar in the new tab page cant be disabled. Another thing that it lacks currently is support for Linux OS. Otherwise, I found it much faster than other browsers.
Great video - A question on collections. I use Edge to open and work on my PDF documents, and have assigned various PDFs documents to different Edge "Collections". When I try to open PDF directly from the "Collection" by clicking , it does not open PDF document. I have therefore started going to the Edge history and opening recent documents directly. I can of-course go to folders, but I thought it will save time, when working with large number of PDF, to directly open from the collection. Is it pssible to do this? Will appreciate your sharing if there is a way to do this. Thanks, Verma

For the screen capture tool, what is meant by "entire page"? Is that only the screen one sees or is that everything including what can only be seen above and below via scrolling. If it is only the screen, one could use "print screen" instead, or install something like Fireshot, which can capture via scrolling.
@@VaradarajanSridharan -- thank you! I'll check those out next time I open Edge. A few of my favorites seem to liked Edge better these days, so I find I have to use it. If I can find Edge to actually be useful, good!
I've been thinking of switching from chrome to edge lately. Chrome take too long to load, when screen sharing ug online meets, the shared screen seen on the other end lags which is the total opposite in edge
After all Microsoft left his own technology and adopt chromium which is open source. Atleast they admirers that open source ahead then property software.
Quick question: my Microsoft Edge closes almost immediately after trying to open it. It works fine for about 3 seconds, freezes, then just closes. It began after I downloaded a Windows cumulative update preview a couple days ago. The good news is I downloaded Edge Beta and set it as default, is there a way to remedy this issue or simply stick with Edge Beta? Also all these tips are lifesavers and make things much easier.
Hey my laptop resolution is at its default however now in edge - settings and more - I can't move my mouse down to close microsoft edge without it auto scrolling past it and only leaving my the clickable option of help. Can you help me? I didn't change any resolutions.
I had cringe, er chredge, installed on kde just to see if my cameras would work instead of firing up the old laptop with winders on it.... it didn't work, some things just don't work the same. for other browsing, it's fine. they did add some cool stuff to it though, I may use it a little more often.
Question for you I've checked Microsoft edge it says it is up to date but I do not have the book icon or the shop icon do I need to turn those on did they move that somewhere else
So microsoft really did release a browser able to compete with firefox and chrome? I see a lot of comments of people who swapped from Chrome to edge, that i can get but currently using firefox and with all the privacy tools build into that i don't see it worth swapping over to edge.
Edge has some good tracking prevention and many other privacy features. You can always choose to not sync with an MS account so they won't link the data.
@Todd Starbuck I have never tried Brave [or heard of it until 2021. ] Is it any good? what does it have as webapps? Cause there are some apps I cannot live without from Firefox. Like RU-vid apps (just fixing the shit that is RU-vid), specially dark mode.
Hey, I'm using edge. I really wanted the mercury reader extension, but it isn't available, searched on both edge extension and chrome Web Store. Shows error 404.
Is Sidebar Search feature available only in specific countries? Because I'm from Poland, I'm using normal version, beta, dev and canary builds and I don't have that option. Edit: Nevermind, I'm using Google search engine and that feature works only with Bing :/
I have always used Firefox, watch your video and thought I would try Edge BUT it appears it is not on my laptop , went to store to install BUT got error message this file has no association , tells me to install and app or create association in default apps.. I am lost ..can you point me in the right direction
Thanks for the video. I need containers for cookie isolation and about:config for deep configuration in Edge. Would gladly do that since Firefox is packed with trackers now. I managed to kill all trackers with user.js in Firefox. Will make some tests with Edge before using it.
@@hahaitsme Because it is pretty much the best browser out there. so good infact that just about every browser with the exception of Firefox is Chromium-based.
Sir, I need older version of edge, like v42..... Plz help me to use edge of older version. It provides pen option everywhere inside the edge. Please give me .exe file or any alternative way to install older Edge. Please help me.
