15 Failed Price is Right Pricing Games 

I knew the original Bullseye would be on here. I was just watching an old TPIR episode where it was first played, and it was brutal. It's basically The Clock Game if you only had exactly seven guesses to win an item, and no time clock. There was no realistic way you could win a car that way, even at early 1970s prices.

I think that add em up would have worked for a different show but it did not fit into TPIR

6:13 It also wasn't fair because there was no showcase showdown. They determined who got into the showcase but how much amount of prizes you won. So you win that game your in the showcase.

I have to say, the fact that only one of these games debuted during the Sandler era speaks to the quality of the people around him.

I just had a thought: Professor Price reminds me of Gene Shalit of The Today Show.

Honorable mentions: It's Optional (a classic) and more recent pricing games like Clearance Sale and Step Up.

You forgot one--IT'S OPTIONAL. I remember watching this one a few times and Bob Barker's explanation of the rules made that game so convoluted and a bit difficult to enjoy.

I still think Mystery Price was good.

Add em up might have worked if they didn't insist it be for a car. Mystery Price I've always thought could be re-tooled. Instead of the goal being the amount of a prize, why not make it an announced amount? And use bids for prizes you'd see on Most Expensive or other multi-prize games, and have it played for both the prizes and the cash earned in the bank if you cover the top amount. It'd be one of the rare Cash-MPGs since one of my other favorite failed games, Fortune Hunter.

I think shower game could have worked if it had different rules, 1 stall had the car, 1 stall had money, 2 stalls had confetti, & 1 stall had water. If you picked the stall that had water, the game was automatically over. If you picked a stall that had confetti, the game continued if you won more than 1 stall. If you picked the stall that had the car or money, the game ended. You could win 4 stalls and 4 small prizes.

I understood there were also concerns from the Jewish community about Shower Game reminding them of the holocaust. Was that true or not?

I never liked Fortune Hunter, even though it wasn’t mentioned on your list.

Should retire Easy As 1-2-3 (I called it “Difficult As 1-2-3”). It has been at least 20 playings of record of losses, and it is winless during the previous season. They should also retire Danger Price, and Take Two, which are awful for prizes that is other then playing for a car.

What about Blank Check, or the Check Game? That one was really difficult to explain to many contestants, mainly because they couldn’t understand that they had to think of how much the price of the prize was, then add an amount to that price they’re thinking of so it totaled say, $5,000, then write out the check for the added amount. Many contestants were confused by that, and who writes checks anymore?

I thought Gallery Game was a bit interesting. They should of kept it going.

Gallery Game retired Penny Ante in 1990. In turn, Penny Ante retired Gallery Game in 1991.
