IIRC not every Dairy Queen in the USA has a full menu so not everyone thinks of it is a burger joint so it makes sense we immediately thought of Burger King
Howard Johnson's wasn't a fast food chain. They were full-service, family restaurants with tables, booths, and counters with stools. The iconic menu was cooked to order. HoJo's ice cream, with 28 flavors, was world-class and rivaled any of today's high-end brands. On the other hand, D'Lites was definitely fast food and an excellent concept that didn't work out. The food was excellent.✅👍
Anyone remember Ninja Burger? Ok, it wasn't an actual restaurant. It was a collection of Japanese pop culture stores tied together to a web site tieing the stores together under a false "secret restaurant of tofu burgers made and delivered by ninjas".
Wow I didn’t even know alot of these restaurants existed. But then again I was born in the 90s. Interesting that there was a restaurant called Burger Queen, considering Burger King exists
I used to eat at a Burger Chef in North Muskegon, MI from time to time. It closed in the early 1980's, I wonder if it was the last one to close telling from the entire chain folding in 1981.
Good news Casa Bonita fans! Trey Parker and Matt Stone from the South Park fame bought the Casa Bonita in Colorado and are trying to remodel and reopen it. They have basically gutted out the entire place because it was so run down, and they were supposed to open next month, but with all the work that still needs done, it will probably be next year some time before it's open again. They even had to redo the famous fountain out front. Don't worry they are redoing the menu with newer things, but said they are keeping the vibe of the old one. They just had a big thing on our news station here about it. While they were filming their news part outside, there were still tourists who saw the building from afar and wanted to go see what it was. They were from Germany. 😁
I was just about to say that! those 2 are about to put the midas touch on that place! I know it! everything they do turns to gold! who knows, they may expand, and with them at the wheel? oh heck yeah!
I grew up on Casa Bonita in Tulsa. I loved that place! Two of my favorite memories were that was where I learned to love hot salsa & the day my parents FINALLY let me start ordering the All-You-Can-Eat dinner regularly. And man, Dad & I took advantage of that!!! ❤❤❤ I am going to have to visit my friend in Colorado more often now. 😂😂
@@lordr0808 unfortunately they don’t have the all you can eat menu which is so sad. You have to be on their mailing list and get an invite to get in until they do the actual grand opening.
The Brown Derby is neither fast food or completely gone. There is a Brown Derby on Huntington Blvd. in Arcadia, CA, but nobody goes there because it's too crowded.
I liked Howard Johnson's, because of their reliable menu. Their motels were also wonderful places to spend the night in, due to the fact that the rooms were clean, and the TV sets worked.
Hey everyone!!FYI if you ever want to try yogi bear there is one in Hartsville South Carolina… I use to eat them all the time and yes they still serve honey fried chicken and it is the best🍗🍯
There was a Chi-Chi's in Frederick Maryland. My mother and I went to it a couple times. They put us in the back, the last time we did go. Took an hour, to take our order, then at least another, to give us our food.
Fun fact. The creators of south park bought casa bonita and is trying to restore it. And in a arizona event they showed what kind of nasty things was there like wood rotting, broken air conditioning, and so much more

MAYBE Burger Queen didn't succeed because it didn't have a catchy jingle promoting their restaurant... You can eat...you can eat...as you rest your feet...park your jeep...take a seat and eat at Burger Queen....
I’m originally from Ohio 🥺 I miss chichis that was my bday place until I was 11 then I moved to Texas- I also remember the Ponderosa, brown derby, old country buffet, Bob Evans none of which I can find here. In Texas they closed down Beefers. Was my favorite burger joint when I moved here to small town Mansfield. Really let me get a tatse of old country slithers hospitality :) all the elder patrons go for breakfast & the cooks would joke with them- everyone knew everyone was so nice to see- plus I could get a burger for breakfast (I hate breakfast foods) my family enjoyed down home cooked breakfast from there.
@@BabbleTop Yes, but it's been so long, I don't remember the menu. Milkshakes were a big seller. One BQ turned Druthers in a nearby county is still open - but with limited hours (mostly senior citizen customers).
McDonald’s ripped off Burger Chef and basically stole the idea of a Happy Meal with a toy from them. If that hadn’t of happened, Burger Chef would probably still be around today.
To be fair, any fast food restaurant at that time served toys with kids meals probably stole the idea from Children’s Breakfast Cereal industry. They both could of stole the idea from the same place 🤷♀️
Burger Queen tipping their ice creams upside down to prove their quality when giving them to you, meanwhile I can't even find a place with a working ice cream machine any more 😂
I remember a very small burger chain in Florida that was owned by a football quarterback. I want to say Roman Gabriel. As kids we loved it because the burgers were football shaped.
I don't consider Howard Johnsons a fast food but just a regular restrunt. Never herd of Yogi Bear, Burger Chef was nice. I never herd of Burger Queen. Never herd of Carrols or Chicken George.
Casa Bonita in Colorado is reopening under new mgt, Trey Parker & Matt Stone (Southpark) bought it in bankruptcy court for $3.1mm and are in the process of revamping the operation
In Illinois we currently have at least two that I have seen and visited Doggie Diners Restaurants. Both have continued to thrive in the last 2 decades.
What is sad in today's fastfood places is that they are reducing how much you get or buying cheaper products which are not as tasty my suggestion is to decide if you wanna stay in the business or not. Nothing is more important then the coustmer

I live in Colorado not very far from Casa Bonita, they are still around, they just closed up temporarily for major remodel. Other restaurants in the past people may have completely forgot about too was places like Furr's, Royal Fork, Hungry Farmer, Whataburger, etc., (even though some of these were not fast food restaurants).
There's still one Yogi Bear's Honey Fried Chicken, the original one, in Hartsville, South Carolina. I should know, I go to school in the town. They're pretty good, especially for the cheap.

There is a Dee' s drive-in in Louisa, Kentucky. You used footage of the place from KET in this video. The Dee's in Louisa was never part of a chain. It is a one of that was named after the Original owner a man named Dee Moore.
Yeah I thought the same until I did some research. Both has the same name but the one they are talking about is from Utah and is not affiliated with the one in Louisa at all. The one they refer to was a franchised restaurant chain open in 1932 and was named after Dee Frederick Anderson. The one in Louisa was opened in the 50's, was never part of any franchise and was named after Dee Moore. But they should have done more research because all the videos they used were of Dee's in Louisa from a KET (Kentucky Educational Television) video that was made in 2012.
