I got it on xbox and played for like 2 hours yesterday, and what the hell this game is complicated. looks fun once i get good tho. never played a game like it so its interesting. the combat controls are completely bamboozling me, like when i do certain stuff i get it out but sometimes when i get it out i slap the ground too, or when i sprint i put it away. would appreciate if someone on youtube made the simplest of simple videos on it
Most crucial tip I know that wasn’t mentioned: Use a gathering palico for first half or more of game, it’s better to use two gather cats an just have evade extender which extends your swinging animations too making you faster than dogs at lvl 3. Gathering cats can plunder off any monster as well as gather herbs, ore, etc they’ve gotten me many extremely rare monster parts. Moves like Go,fight, win Power drum, Shock purrision, Endemic life support, Are to be sought after when hiring a gathering palico
@@Franklii21 Bro, we're talking about MHR here. The community has decided spiritbirds are bad, and if your going to play multiplayer you CANNOT go for birds, or your randys will DELIBERATELY fail the hunt. EVERY.SINGLE.TIME. It was so bad, that capcom decided they need to make the follower system work EVERYWHERE, for the people who want to play the game the way it was intended. MHR's community is toxic AF - imo, its more toxic the Dark souls HAS EVER BEEN. When the game first came out, content creators went MAD saying how terrible spending 3-4 mins collecting birbs and having what capcom calls "prep time" is the worst thing thats ever happened, let alone looking for endemic life to use in the hunt. What they wanted was "eat, fight, repeat". they didnt wanna explore, collect endemic life, or learn anything about the ecology of the game. They need to make CONTENT, and all these things (which makes a MH game a MH game) run contradictory to pushing out content as fast as possible, so they decided it needed to go (cause its hurts the bottom line/$$$) and they rallied the community behind it. Now we have people like this. I wonder if these people know theres an entire system to take pictures of monsters/eco life, and they get rewarded for it. (weps, armor, layered armor, and giant wire-bugs) Prolly not, since it slows down the content, and most people dont do ANY research for themselves, they just do what their fav YT'er told them to do. In fact. 90% of the people who play this game (including the content creators) dont even know theres enviromental traps. 99% of the vids i've seen discuss how they've been removed from the game and it's a detriment. They're not removed. The map just doesn't blatantly point them out to you (unless your in lava caverns), and these people dont look/explore ANYTHING. It boggles my mind how an entire community can just NOT engage with 70% of the game, based off of what a YT'er said to them. Another example, i believe its 0.3% of hunters use gunlance. Why is it so low? Cause every content creator except Rurikhan has said they "the worst wep in the game". they're not. NOT EVEN CLOSE. Gunlance is the BEST its ever been, and FAR outclasses alot of weps. Lance is objectively the worst wep in the game (damage AND function wise. Poopy damage, and its whole deal is counters, which ALOT of weps can do better. ((CB and GS!!!)) But again, people like "rage gaming" - for example; have said "lance is OP!!" cause of the counters and people just believe it. Seriously boggles my mind. It's like everyone is an NPC now, and can't think for themselves.
@@panopticpunk I can second the gunlance. I've been a charge blade user and decided to branch out to gunlance. Pleasantly surprised and probably will main gunlance and switchaxe instead of charge blade forever now.
@@panopticpunk you seem like you know alot about the game I'm just starting never really played a monster hunter before but I like fast weapons so I'm using the dual blades how good are they I like them so far and are there other fast weapons too?
@@taurusfire2083 ok I'll be sure to try it out since I'm still in the beginning and does it take awhile to upgrade weapons because I've only unlocked the 2nd upgrade for my weapon and don't see a option for a 3rd yet
"Sniff Out" (whilst requiring you bring a Palamute...) is much more useful for tracking what's available on the map in real-time, because it covers all item categories, and places blue and yellow pins over the locations of gathering points and hunting helpers, respectively. This gives you an indication of where to find something you're looking for, as well as a timer on when that item has respawned, because the pins are hidden once it's been collected.
The map settings at 10:35 are really important imo - having the zoomed-in minimap showing me where wirebugs and other useful endemic life are can make a lot of hunts a lot easier
You can just press L1 to zoom in whenever you like. I think the tip with the minimap zoomed in all the time and only not zoomed in when pressing L1 is shit but it comes down to preferences ig. Also you can just let your dog sniff certain items to display them on the big map aswell so no need for the zoomed in view
@@rny420ever since I got most of my camps and recons set up I haven't really had a reason to use a dog. If I'm farming items I use a map and 2 gather cats lol
@@sp00kyd4ddy6 yes i do it the same way because cats are just superior in this game. I still see a lot of people using the dogs in online play tho so for them its still a good tip to use the sniffing. In addition to that you learn where stuff is on the map and youll remember certain bone piles or mining locations aswell as the endemic life so no need for the map
Another big tip that was not mentioned in this video, I would highly recommend switching your action bar and your item bar! It feels cumbersome having to hold L1 while you’re cycling through your item bar in the midst of combat. Change your item bar so it works how it did in world, by just using the d-pad, and your action bar you’ll have to hold L1 to use. You’re going to be using your action bar a lot less often than your item bar, do yourself a favor and change the settings.
I refuse to do that. I even go so far as to disable the item wheel. I like the frantic nature of scrolling through the items to find what you need. Also, it helps to memorize the order in which they're set
@@Nrt2Pnt0 Lol if that’s your thing then to each their own I guess. I use both, sometimes I use the item bar, but I use the radial menu for things like potions and herbal medicine, and the whetstone. You must have played the older games for you to prefer using the item bar
Hard disagree. Using L1+X/B let's you keep moving while you are going through the item list, so if you are hunting for something specific in a fight, it is *much* better to leave it as is.
Actually helpful tips. I've been playing MH for a long time but only recently started MHR/SB and even as a MH veteran like me, these tips especially those in the settings are still extremely useful and most of them I didn't even know or even think can be changed.
I highly recommend disabling camera shake in Rise and screen vibration in World. After turning off this setting it felt like I was playing just a bit more fluidly and I could focus more on what was happening. It'll save you headaches and looks much better when you record Gameplay.
Maybe for some would work, but for people like me, you are eliminating the flavor of strong attacks, where you can feel them Maybe not everyone is used to camera shakes and that can bother, but i do see this as a crime if it is with me, being GS main it would feel like GS is not strong anymore
8:30 actually in Type 1 you can still cancel the radial menu item even after you tilt the R-analog stick, just release the L1 first before releasing the R-analog stick
Everytime I play a new game I check the Options. In Rise / Sunbreaks case, I made a guide for my friends with screenshots during the time the Demo released, on which options to change, like the detailed map and many other stuff.
Yeah, new Xbox player here. Found this badboy last night and it's probably the best thing I've changed besides camera zoom. Other players in group hunts tend to lag behind me when the chase is on.
New to Monster Hunter and was having trouble with the camera and your first three points have helped me and made the game so much more playable for me so much thanks my guy...
Holy hell! Had no idea that Monster Hunter even had a setting to focus specifically on a monster. They really should add that to the tutorial so new players like me are less frustrated by the Freelook camera system.
I'm a witcher 3 player who just recently got into this game! I feel just as overwhelmed as when I first started playing that game! Hopefully I will fall in love with this game the same way as well! Thank you for your tips; they are very helpful!
Day 1 and I've taken a very strong liking to the Hammer and the combos and moves you can do with it. Zoning and ranging took a couple hours to get but its fun and the ariels are so great for the flying enemies 😂. Played all day amd never though to change FOV sometimes hard to get the swing right with the FOV.
Gonna write this out so i can set it at home later: Camera Settings - Camera Distance - MAX Camera Style - Target/Focus (Preference) Player Silhoute - (Preference) Hit Effects - Less, set player 100%, others to 25% Damage Indicator - Off Player Name - Off Hud Settings - Disable everything, be a pro! Sheathe Settings - Manual Settings Button hold settings - Short Radial Menu - Type 2 slower with r3 to use items Buttons for wyvern riding - circle weapon sheathed Tutorial window - don't display Targetting Arrow - hide Hud map type - Detailed map Hud map toggle - Toggle Health and stamina gauge - Dynamic Skill switch info display - Dynamic and set the time to 5 sec
I keep the names on the upper left enabled because I keep an eye on other hunters' health. I always keep life powder so I have to know when I need to use it.
Very useful video thank you, taking a break from Elden ring after multiple runs, wanted to try something new, never played Monster hunter in my life, there is a lot I need to pick up and learn, especially the mechanics 😅
I've never played a From Software game, because I be scared. But I have over 300 hours in Monster Hunter World and just started Monster Hunter Rise. People say combat wise they're pretty similar like when it comes to I frames and all that fancy stuff.
@@ArnisKaliFlow for real. Enjoy. That's one of the harder weapons to use so don't get discouraged if you have any problems. I'm still on stars thinking of switch to Switch Axe. I'm a hammer main but my boy is too so I'm thinking about switching it up just to show him I'm better 🙃
Jesus.... You need to throw out rise and play World instead. Rinse out your mind of this garbage and learn what a true monster hunter game is about with world. I'm being incredibly blunt because I HATE rise for straying so far from the original and failing so horribly.
I did the same thing. After playing fromsoft games I was looking for something new. I’ve seen some Ratotoskr videos and he makes videos on both souls games and monster hunter, so he’s the one who got me into MH! I wasn’t sure if I would like it at first, but after playing for a little while I fell in love and now i’m addicted
The only tip here I didn't know was the hold button one. As a hunting horn with lv5 wide range/mushroom mancer, being able to saddle the ole food truck faster feels nice (I call my dog food truck because I use him to safely eat stuff while moving fast, with wide range it turns my every potion into essentially a mega potion/megalixer from final fantasy effectively healing the entire team like I have 25 life powders, and mushroomancer makes it double basically because it makes mushrooms heal the same as potions and higher level mushroomancer even allows you to replace most if not all of your demon/armor powder grind by eating mushrooms to facilitate those buffs, which I believe also stacks with wide range) So now that I can mount my dog fast and not have to worry about the lad getting stunned by the mon mid button hold, I have become (otk's permitting) a beacon of immortality to multiplayer hunts. A few lads today especially where suffering through the 7* magnamalo or grind with brutal difficulty until uncle pockets showed up with his food truck, sonic barrier spam, and bottomless bag of things that keep you breathing. Thanks a million for the fast mount info! People where already basically clambering to befriend as one of like 4 total hunting horn mains, but now that I can actually get my heals off fast it's like I'm a celebrity, people use more emotes and generaly engage more now that they aren't being combo gunned down by magnamalo and rajang every time I get thrown ten feet away. That one second of holding the button makes more of a difference than you'd ever think ESPECIALLY in a supportive person's shoes for the afformentioned reasons.
You put all hit effects to 100% and trust you know what you are doing and it's cool seeing you and your friends go ham on a monster and it's a flurry of effects lil
The target/focus option can sometimes be nightmare fuel. Can't tell you how many times I was running around hit the focus button. My camera pans around to a giant face breathing down my neck. Can't tell you how many times I've scared my wife, screaming from a jump scare lol
Vet player, played MHW and Rise, and more the half of these have helped dramatically. So even a year later, still helpful. Read the comments as well on here, alot of solid info. Great community. Got my sub :D
I wish the camera lock on would switch back and forth between the two types with the pressing of L1/LB. The lock is so bad because there is no quick unlock, it's rough.
Hi i am a new hunter i´ve been trying to enter the MH saga for like 4 years now (i bought MH world) but i didn´t understand the game a lot back then now i am playing rise and i found out that my weapon was kinda tought for begginers but is cool AF in my opinion so im keeping it the problem is that i feel clunky some times is there any armor or object that makes some moves a bit faster (drawing or charging) i am using the charge blade PD: Thanks for the tips :)
Charge blade is just a big slow weapon my guy if your looking to be quick at all times i recommend playing either longsword, sword and shield, daul blades or insect glaive everything else is gonna feel heavy
I pre-ordered Rise and I've been playing this game since release and I only just learned last night that you can deselect the BBQ spit ans kunai in your items so that they don't show up on your available items, saving time if you don't use the radial wheel.
Great video! I will for sure change the wyvern riding button! For camera control I use a mouse. As a mouse and keyboard user for 30 years, my camera movement with mouse is likely 1000 times better than with a thumbstick on controller. Main drawback is all the tutorials on RU-vid for MH games are mainly for controller. But yeah.... camera on thumbstick is just a no go for me. 😊
Couple things to note for newer xbox players looking at this video. I am having a lot of difficulty enabling lock-on on the xbox console version. Almost as if it's not there as an option. Anyone else having similar experiences? Also there is no dynamic setting for skill switch on xbox players unfortunately.
Sometimes u have to click the right stick to track the monster u are fighting and then the lock on for that monster will work. If ur not tracking and try to lock on it will swing your camera in the direction your character is facing.
The switch skill settings aren't on Xbox yet because the ability to change switch skills mid hunt comes from the Sunbreak dlc (I believe), which Xbox doesn't have yet
How do I get it to show the different combos like at 7:52? I.e. "Circle (While chargin) tackle - LAnalog + Triangle (After Strong Charged Slash) True Charged Slash" ? I don't have that unfortunately..
Honestly, I just watched this cause I had nothing to do but it's a good informative video after all. I knew all of them though, as the first thing I do when I buy a game is fiddle around with settings in order to make sure I'm not missing out on any kind of features. I knew most of them cause I used them in Monster Hunter World, while I discovered the ones introduced in Rise pretty quickly hahaha so yeah, I knew about everything that was said in this video, but as I said it's a good way for people to find out in case they missed something :D
The R3 radial menu option is alright BUT I found my joycons mis reading my input a lot when I pressed down. Also no my joy con's have NO stick drift. The setting can help others BUT in my opinion during a hunt every second matters and the time it took to press the stick can translate to an Attack instead depending on the item
I hate how there's still no option to remove forced lock-on to other monsters while wyvern riding. I would like to hit the bugs on the walls first, please, and aiming the wall bangs is a pain when the camera forces me to look at a volvidon take a shit instead of showing me where I'm going
9:53 if I’m not mistaken if you deal too much damage to a mountable monster it will recover and you can’t get it in a mountable state for 8-10 minutes.
I usually don’t subscribe ( don’t judge ) but after I used all of your settings as in the video , I spent 20 minutes to try to find your video again to like and subscribe. Thanks for the tips. They definitely helped and I figure the least I could do is subscribe ! Keep it up !
-.- Just so you know, I watch you a lot. I failed the challenge cause I didn't know about the button hold timing setting. You got a lot of us with one. Even if we dont want to admit it. Though admittedly I DONT use palamutes because I'm a vet and value the buffs of my Palico. FINALLY, we can hunt 4s with a palico on each player! Been a LOOONG time coming for that
My friends call me a "settings nerd" because any new game i mess around for a good 1-2 MINUTES looking at the settings. Look at the views and comments on this video. Why TF isnt this more commonplace? Almost every game has something to be improved even if its as simple as motion blur or camera speed.
On xbx cheers for the tips with the focus camera I was strugging with stick drift on my right stick and it makes it hard to focus on the monsters now I can see what the hell I'm doing and I'm not getting hit as I'm much trying to adjust the cam.,
Are you sure the Switch skill display option is Fixed by default? I don't recall ever seeing that appear on the screen, and that's a setting I've never touched.
@@kemidanrami3790 I don’t know the time stamp but if u go to settings u can change press hold botton to short and it will basically make mounting dog instant
Don't be surprised, most people never even consider going through controls and options before ever even starting the game... Nothing wrong with a part of the vast majority, somebody gotta do it. To be honest I WISH I was one of those people.
i hope MH WIlds has the mechanic of Worlds and Rise but yea imagine the balancing 😅 welp hope they got all monster i guess seeing its taking the legit openworld approach instead of the zone/hub-like world. now that DD2 is released can't wait for WIlds, id be like Dragons Dogma 1 as a stepping stone for MHWorld
