15 Basic Handshake Techniques, colored belt curriculum for Maximum Martial Arts Hapkido, Las Cruces, NM 88005
Handshake techniques are a precursor to the cross wrist techniques, and serve as a means to teaching Hapkido concepts without over-stimulating adrenaline. This allows students to learn to the Yu Won Hwa concepts, without feeling like they need to power through their techniques. They are meant as a teaching tool for students just learning Hapkido locking. Obviously, their isn't a good reason to hurt someone trying to shake your hand. But, since we shake other's hands every day, these techniques give you a good starting frame of reference for learning.

We are in the process of making a video compendium of techniques from White to Black Belt, then later covering black belt techniques. The videos are quite a bit of work, while still running a dojang, but we have quite a bit of content on our Foundation Hapkido Page: ru-vid.com/show-UC03_aMzYBDGAkR_2CbxbTFg

@@MaximumMartialArts Just now I recalled handshake drills that I did as a kid, years ago and it made me wonder why. I never asked for a reason, nor was I offered an explanation. Your response/vid description made a lot of sense, thanks!
