I had to reply to your comment because I felt the same way about "The Lighthouse". "The Northman" is a little less soul destroying, but not by much. I loved both movies, but "The Northman" was more fun.
Movies are such a Wellspring of good energy for me in a life that is not gone so well, and Mr Van Damme has turned me on to so many great releases I would have never checked out on my own. Thank you
Excellent FLICK CONNECTION Darren. I have particularly enjoyed seeing Wrath of Man. Many thanks for sharing with us. Love your presentations and your insights into each movie 👍👍👍
"Vengeance", is my surprise movie of the year for me so far. This movie had surprising turns. It is way better than I expected and I give it 4-stars, for comparison, I give the all time classic movies 5-stars.
You are the best recommender of any subject, I have ever seen on RU-vid! Even for movies I've already seen; after I hear you describe them I end up wanting to watch them again .
Ooh, ooh! The Outfit is a gem that's not to be missed! So glad you highlighted this flick, Darren. The Northman shocked me first time around but became a fave after a second round. Can't lose either way with 2 helpings of Alexander Skarsgard. I loved the quirky Oscar winner this year, but Top Gun: Maverick deserved that top spot. For sheer entertainment, movies just don't get any better than that.
The Outfit is a merging of old school and new school and done really well. That's rare these days to learn the rules like a professional and then break them like an artist. To merge that and be true is what art is about. Outfit could have been in the 50's or the 2020's or black and white and still would have been been just as good. I kinda think they should have done it black and white but at least, I get 1 out of 7 movies I try that are really good. That requires research and movie recommendations like flick connections because I'm working on suicide, lol, lost my time to find these things. Flick recommends a lot of stuff for typical people to enjoy but finding the Outfit was because of him and took me away from the horror of life for a little bit. I'm actually to go re-watch it, cancelling my subscription to Scentbird, lmao....they don't give you much and always out of what you end up liking or limit what you can try like it.....very difficult to cancel your subscription as well.....They lock in to things or send you around the world to cancel with reply emails and all kinds of stuff. Legit company, I guess....but way too difficult to cancel and had several issues. I felt like Flick deserved me trying them for the 3 or 4 out of 100 recommendations I've taken from him that I enjoyed but wasn't a great experience.
Cujo with Cats…High Art Carnage.. MAN you’re awesome. GENIUS This Captions at the start of each review Saves me Tons of thinking if I’m going to like a film or not, it sorta bypasses critical thought, I just sense ok this the type of vibe the movies has, and paired with a bit of info I can tell if i care to watch… Honestly it seems like nothing, yet I think you’ve struck Gold, it might be hit e miss sometimes but you got talent for this, you’ve seen so many films your repertoire for coining the one sentence is definitely worth putting up there. I’d go as far as saying your totally tapping into the collective subconscious.
Thirteen Lives is probably one of my all time favorite movies within the last 5 years. Such an incredible & insane story. I'm not claustrophobic however on some of the scenes I had to look away & turn the volume down. I felt like I was in the caves with them. It's so realistic watching them moving through spaces that were so small they has to tank their air tanks off. I highly recommend this movie.
Completely agreed. The “Thirteen Lives” Amazon version of the Thai cave rescue is by far the best film about that tragic event. In fact, it stands alone as an incredibly well rounded and fast paced thriller of a movie. I enjoyed it and felt a connection to the boys and the divers
Huge Bond fan. Read the books all the time, watch the films around Christmas. No Time to Die is the absolute worst thing to happen to the Bond franchise and I'll never suffer through it again
Saw AIR & The Northman in the theaters, both were great movies. I actually worked for Nike back when Jordan's came out, they were all the hype. Sound track for this is awesome.
Great list, I mostly agree. Just switch nope with terrifier… then remove nope altogether😂. Jordan Peele is so overrated. His movies are ok, not amazing. Nope had great idea but it was boring.
Hey, did you know that RU-vid lets you break up the video into sections? You should try that next time so I don’t have to waste time watching the whole video 👍
AIR was so good I didn't think of it as an all-talk movie until this review. lol The Outfit is very British, that is to say, they don't have money for effects and locations, but they do have damn fine actors and can tell a story. I loved this one. If you don't enjoy Top Gun: Maverick you are batty, commie, or grumpy.
@@Maya_Pinion I guess me too...or maybe I just like the first one too much :-) Honestly the wait for the movie was ridiculously long so it was hard not to have high expectations
This is great! Been getting increasingly frustrated with Netflix but rarely venture off platform because I really like the playback speed toggle, but I just finished The Boys finally and haven't had a good look around Prime in a while. I love the little subtitle tag things you added under the movie titles!
He clearly has different tastes from my own. Of all 15 picks, 'Ambulance' is the one I would suggest you watch first. He's right in that it is not big on dialogue or plot development BUT it keeps your attention non-stop. Ezia Gonzalez alone is worth the watching!! She's perfect in her portrayal!!
I'd pick "The Outfit" as the top choice and only include "Nope" as a last resort if I couldn't find anything else because I honestly think it was a highly hyped "WOKE" propaganda .
Thanks for the list. I have added Ambulance and Nope to my Prime watch list 💯. I probably would not have watched either one had I not heard your recommendations 🏆
Ambulance is so very good - I've been telling everyone I know. I think this is Bay's best film... I hope this is the start of more good things to come!
Dude, could you ask Prime or Netflix to give us "Cypher" plz...? That's one of the greatest scenarii I ever seen, a great sci-fi/action/thriller unique mix, and ultimately the most phenomenal love story you can imagine...
Thanks again! I will watch Terrifier 2. I loved The Northman, although I think it needs a big screen. You mentioned Nightcrawler, which I consider a great movie with an even better central performance (from Jake G).
Vengeance is legit. It should probably be #2. Also, do I have to be the first person to claim the Nope was just okay? It felt like an average M Night Shamalan, which is still fun... but everyone has been acting like Nope is the best horror in years (while we're currently in a great era for horror).
A lot of picks are rent or buy where I am. Amazon changed their format a while back and started to charge extra for what use to be included in their service at the same time raising rates. They took away free movies and started charging for them, they took away 3 years of my playlists and downloads for music. As the competition grew they got greedier. In a time where inflation and unemployment is soaring, guess what consumers will drop first.BTW, Netflex did the same.
I love Top Gun Maverick and seen it quite a few times now. Unfortunately it isn't on prime in the UK. Wrath of man is so good too. I've not yet seen Air or Nope so will check them out.
Of all the movies on this list I've only seen a few but of those I have seen Nope and it was one of if not the best movie I saw last year. Great story and characters. The acting was very good and it was just amazing all around. Maverick was okay but a tad over the top and required too much to make it feel believable. If you know nothing about Naval Aviation or how planes really fly, in combat it's pretty good.
Are you saying these are available for free on Prime or just available? Or maybe available for free in US. In Canada at least half of the films recommended are only available to rent or buy.
Usually like his videos but I don't understand what this guy has been smoking . All of these movies have been on Prime Video for 2 or 3 months if not longer except for Air which is little boring.
Amazon bought MGM in 2021 so all the James Bond movies are on Prime now. That is why Netflix did not scoop up the latest Bond film - Amazon has the rights.
I thoroughly enjoyed “Lost City”! Brad Pitt’s cameo was too funny.🤣🤣🤣And Harry Potter as the villain was a great touch. Watched it at least 3 times. Wrath Of Man was so good. I love Tubi! All the best movies seems to be on Tubi
@@msthang5366 Not on my TV! Waaay took many interruptions with commercials & a stupid waterfall that you have to watch for 2 minutes every 5-10 minutes. It’s ridiculous! I’m glad that’s not the case for you!
@Flick Connection Darren, do you know the name of the movie within the last 5 years with a barbarian/witcher kinda guy out in the woods hunting monsters alone?
The Black Phone was decent but the closing song by The Brian Jonestown Massacre’s Anton Newcombe makes it the greatest movie ever made in the history of motion pictures, but maybe I’m just a huge BJM fan .
Possible hidden gem on Prime; Rise - Blood Hunter (Lucy Liu). Took a chance and watched, very impressed. Best to watch without knowing about. Good twists and turns. Lucy Liu nice treat as well. Good casting. Cool cameos too. Great typical Friday night horror film.
Rating THE LOST CITY over ANY James Bond film is criminal. I saw it and the entire time I'm sitting next to my wife I was wondering when I got to escape
Fantastic list per the usual I was not thrown in excitement in the beginning of AIR but it was a fantastic movie. Glad I watched. Reminded me of that new Tetris movie.
Jordon peele movies r always a little weird i usually dont enjoy but ill try rest of list but have seen most due to ur channel. N i agree about top gun loved it
Another thing that Prime does better than anyone is book adaptations, which isnt too surprising considering Amazon's roots. The Expanse, Reacher, Bosch, etc are just great.
For those in Canada (paying more): 12. I Want You Back 8. Air 3. Thirteen Lives. Nice channel but always frustrating to see what we pay for and don't get.
My son and I picked this movie apart because we love it. And we came around to it being about an alien lifeform that was trying to keep to itself and not bother much of the humans. But gets attacked and lashes out and winds up dying.
Totally agree with your comments on "No time to die"... it's o.k. but not the best James Bond movie and I hated the ending...... "Ambulance" was a great movie.
