Stripped my first Sheer Pin on the snowblower and also fixed the problem with the snowblower chute. Big thanks to my friend and neighbour-Guy. He has an "L" series Kubota. He really helped me out and walked me through the repairs. Cheers and Happy New Year!!

Yayyyayayay! You and Guy saved the day! My shear pin broke on my tractor blower the other day and I went to install a new one and Guy was the only person on RU-vid I found that addressed the fact that you can install the shear pin on the auger one way to match the other auger or you can rotate it 180° to make it different the the other auger. This would affect the way it shoots snow into the impeller and I figured there was a right way and a wrong way. It looks like you guys agreed it should be staggered from the other auger. Thanks!

@@GPOutdoors the inner shaft counts the most. Who cares where the outer shafts are?
@GPOutdoors
@GPOutdoors 6 лет назад
Good day Tomas. I agree. But I had him mark both shafts (even though the hole is only a few inches away) because it is easier for me to see them lined up, hold the outer shaft, and then turn to put the pin in. But you are right, it would not be too hard to see the mark while looking at the hole on the outer shaft as well. Cheers and thanks for watching!

Hey GP, wanted to thank you for your video. I am just finishing up putting my snowblower together for my B2650HSDC, and thanks to this video, I will be taking the chute off and removing the grease that I applied during assembly. My manual only say to lubricate the plastic ring. I wrongly assumed that grease would be the correct lub. At least I can do it while it is still warm out and not when the temps drop. Thanks for all the time you put into your videos, they are very appreciated

Good morning Deepwoods! Happy it was helpful for you. I just couldn't figure out why it would not spin properly and the valve body kept getting really hot. BTW - I spray the gears and ring a little before each time or two that I use it. Quick spray before I head out down the driveway. Good luck and all the best for this winter!
@DeepWoods55
@DeepWoods55 4 года назад
I don't know if this applies to all of Kubotas snowblowers, but I found unless I go past the detent on the loader valve, the chute will not rotate to the right. Works right away moving the chute to the left, but won't go to the right unless I go past the dump detent. Would that maybe be a contributing factor of your overheating?
@GPOutdoors

I find the same thing with mine. It may be part of it. Now I always spray a little lubricant before I use it and it spins easily. Thanks for sharing DW55! Cheers!

That’s a great looking machine. If you flip-flop the hydraulic rotation hoses it would make more sense. Left would turn left and right would turn right. Of course maybe it’s backwards in Canada. 😀😀. Great video! Love the transitioning.

The pin location is 180 degrees to the other augers sheer pin location; so unless you blow two, it's easy to locate. Use a small punch to locate, then a rubber hammer to push out the bolt portion still in the auger shaft. I guess I've gotten too good at it; GRAVEL DRIVEWAY!!! Thank you for sharing.

Good morning Laurie. I have never heard of that. If you have a minute, can you tell me what that is or what the brand is called? Is it like a spray that you spray on the gear? Appreciate it - thanks!
@henryrodgers3409
@henryrodgers3409 5 лет назад
Fluid Film . That is the name of the product. Comes in a spray can with a red top or gal size to use with a brush . Doesn't hurt the paint at all . I spray all moving parts and the entire inside of the snow blower where the auger is . Great lubricant and rust preventer . You can get it at Canadian Tire or Princess Auto . Places like that . Canadian Tire has it on special at times so you can save a few bucks . Good stuff .

Enjoyed this video GP , Guy is a pretty good guy to have around ain't he? Those witness marks will save lots of time when you are out along the road with a broken shear pin. A tote bag with extra pins, hammer and punch and wrench is a must in winter time when shear pins are involved. Thanks for sharing.

Good morning ODD! Yup, I am pretty lucky - he is pretty smart. I've broken a few since and I keep my tools and spare pins in the toolbox on the tractor and now it is so much easier for me to see the marks, line them up and punch the pins. Enjoy the weekend! Lots to do over here so up and at it!

Hey John. Quick thanks. I tried using the WD today and it works much better than the Lube. Although the lube is far better than grease, it still gums up a little bit in the freezing cold but the WD was great. Thanks for the tip! Have a great week!

Hey GP, long time follower. Hope your covid experience is getting better. I have a question. I have a B2601 (tons of your videos is the reason why) I want to install a snowblower. You’re running a lx2980 on your LX2610, do you see any reason I couldn’t run the same lx2980 on my b2601? Dealer quoted me on it and I’m thinking about going that route. But the dealer would rather me buy the 55” commercial B2822A…. But I know I want to upgrade like you did to the LX2610. Only downfall is the quick hitch and drive for the snowblower won’t switch over. But the snowblower will🤪 Get well soon my friend. 🥂
@GPOutdoors
@GPOutdoors 2 года назад
Morning David! Interesting question and not sure I have the right answer. I believe the LX2980 weighs about 100 pounds more and ingests alot more snow so possible thoughts are that the 2601 is not as heavy as the 2610 and I know the frame etc on the 2610 is more robust than the 2601. I am not sure if the newer K-Connect frame/subframe fits on the 2601 but the dealer will know. The 55" sounds like a good size I think so I think if you are eventually going to trade into an lx2610 I would try to make sure everything is transferable since the blowers are so very expensive. I wish I could help more but am not familiar with the 2822A. Good luck and thanks for the well wishes!

Good day Don. True. And surprising lesson learned here. I thought for sure something was bent or pinched on the chute mechanism and was pretty surprised to find out the root of the problem was all that grease. Cheers!

i was wondering if grease made for snowmobil would work since they are made for low temperature use.
@GPOutdoors
@GPOutdoors 6 лет назад
That might be a pretty good idea for some other things. :) On this model though, it turns out the base plate is plastic. I think the issue was more having grease in there between the metal and the plastic. I started using that spray lubricant instead for the rest of the winter and it did the trick! Thanks for sharing the idea and for watching. Have a great week!

Hi in the manual that I have for the blower it says to use chain saw lubricant on the chain every 4 hours . I use a winter grade in an oil can , this would be cheaper than the spray oil that you use. I hope this is helpful.
@GPOutdoors
@GPOutdoors 5 лет назад
Hey thanks John. I do it regularly but with the spray lube too. But this is really helpful. Thanks! And hey - stop hiding all this good advice to yourself! LOL. Just kidding good sir. Thanks again. The b 2782 is a nice blower but they could have put a lot more thought into changing the auger shear bolts, especially the left auger. I've changed dozens of them and curse Kubota (or whoever makes it for them) every time. At least with the right auger you only have to hold it against the outer bearing and rotate it til you find the pin hole which is a pain in itself whereas the left auger is floating between the inner and outer bearings, so you have to try and hold it using the paint overspray as a half ass guide and then rotate it til the holes line up, all the while trying to see the remainder of the old shear bolt through the gobs of grease to be able to drive it out, even with a mark on the shaft it's a royal pain in the ass, especially when its 10 degrees out. When I have to change one I lift the blower as high as it will go then drive it up on a couple car ramps, makes it a lot easier, especially on the back and knees.
@GPOutdoors
@GPOutdoors 5 лет назад
Good day728. I don't think I have ever had to change the one on the left. Only the one on the right - several times. I guess because I am almost always driving up the right hand side of the drive along the shoulder. But thanks for the head's up on the left! I didn't know that. Cheers and all the best!
@08c6vette
@08c6vette 5 лет назад
@@GPOutdoors You changed the one I was referring to in this video. I meant the left as you're looking at the blower from the front, not sitting on the tractor. You seemed to experience some of the issues I was referring to, made easier with two sets of hands. You'll find that when you have to change the one on the right it's much easier as the auger sits against the right bearing in it's normal operating position and all you have to do is rotate it til the holes line up. Why they didn't do the same with the left auger I'll never know. Cheers to you as well.

Noticed that your chute rotates very slowly compared to mine. I was trying to determine a way to slow mine down. Did your come this way or did you make an adjustment?
@GPOutdoors
@GPOutdoors 4 года назад
Hi Tom. It came that way and in fact, is still kind of slow. Not sure why. I know initially it was because of all that grease packed under there but now , it tends to spin at a reasonable rate. Wish I could offer more to you but I honestly don't know. I didn't make any adjustments. Hope you figure it out ok. Cheers!
