I was THISCLOSE to trading in my new M2 Air 13" for a 15" earlier this week. I just couldn't do it. For me, the retro vibe with the 13" brings back the joy of using my old, polycarbonate MacBooks (along with the M2 Air being joyful in and of itself.) The 15 form factor just...doesn't have that vibe. I'm happy with my original purchase.

I ordered a 15" 16/512 for a college student. It's the perfect blend of size, power, and portability. There aren't any use cases that would demand Pro level of cores or features. It should be portable to bring to the library or a coffee shop. It's too early to know if the desk makes sense to have an external monitor, but with the 15", it may never even be necessary. I'm expecting the 15" MBA to be more than enough for the next four years.

@@manuellebrandine4822 I got a Midnight (black). A 2017 model would certainly be long in the tooth and wanting for a battery replacement. Zero regrets in getting the 15" MBA. The M2 rocks in all its form factors.

I traded in my 13” M2 air for the 15” and I will say that the 15” screen is reason enough to upgrade. The 15” is still super slim and that extra real estate is great!

same. b&h had deals for both m2 models. traded my 13" 16/512 for 15" 16/256. would take the lower & slower storage for bigger screen and better speakers. best purchase I made in a while. both were $1,250 for anyone wondering.

I just got the 13.6 M2 MacBook Air with 16 gigs of ram memory, and 512 SSD storage. This is my first laptop, and I love it very user friendly. I'm a longtime Windows desktop user since 1999 with Windows 98. My last Dell desktop had Windows 7 pro with 2T hard drive, cause I had a website, and built my own web pages. My personal opinion on the sound, yes the 15 inch is louder, but, doesn't sound that much better to me. One thing I like is the portability. I had the Soho Apple Store help my set it up. After I put 13.6 inch Air in the crossbody laptop briefcase, I was able to walk around NYC without any strain on my shoulders. I think it is personal preference what you need, or like. If you are a student going back and forth to college, the 13.6 Air is more portable. The 15 inch Air is great for putting on a desk. I like the fact that I'm not tide to a desk anymore like with my desktop, and I can sit in the couch, with my legs on the chaise with laptop on my lap. I don't think there is enough difference to switch to 15 inch Air, but, that's just my opinion.

I think the MBA 15 is going really appeal to folks who will be using it as their primary computer, and is going to take the crown as Apple's best selling laptop. The MBA 13 is still going to attract folks like me who want a small, thin and light portable for travel and have a Mac desktop at home when they need more size and power.

Indeed. If I were looking to have only one machine to use for everything, I'd go with the 15 inch. But I have a 16 inch M1 Pro MBP to use on my desk when I need the larger screen real estate and the greater performance. So, I ended up ordering the 13 inch M2 MBA last week once the price dropped slightly following the introduction of the 15 inch model.

Nice review. I've not unboxed my base model M2 MacBook 15" in silver yet. I'm brand new to laptops so this will be my first. It will not be my daily driver - I use a 2021 M1 24" iMac with 16GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD. My use case will not involve heavy lifting nor will it involve using it as my main music listening device.

Hey I am currently looking at buying a new MacBook. I am starting information security degree in July. Which would you recommend out of the 13” m2 pro, 13” m2 air or 15” m2 air? I am using my bookstore to purchase and the 14” is not in stock.

If you ever need to use Remote Desktop, it's nice to have as much screen real estate as possible but I'm sure a 13" will still work. It would be easiest to eliminate the 13" pro as I doubt you'll have sustained work loads requiring a fan. Then it's more up to your physical stature. A 100lb 5' 0" woman should probably go with the 13". A tall guy will find the 15" no less portable. If portability is not an issue, 15" is the way to go as it will allow you to view more information at a time.

My experience the black keys get shiny because of oils from fingers and they can be cleaned with lite dish soap and water on a wrought cotton cloth gently rubbed and a dried cotton cloth....it works I do it once a week...I eat over my laptop :)

I have the 13.6 inch M2 MacBook Air, and I love it. I use glasses for reading, and working on the laptop, also when I had a desktop to build my web pages. The glasses make the screen look bigger. It also depends if you are going to carry the laptop around with you. The 13 inch Air is more portable. Personally, I don't see much difference between the models except bigger screen. This is my first laptop, very user friendly, and I've switched to Mac from Windows.

That’s how I felt. I have short arms so the 15” felt uncomfortable to type on. But I loved the bigger display so not sure what to do.

Me personally I prefer the air size (comfort wise ) over the pro…. But the 14 / 16 makes sense because in the long run it’ll be more powerful 😮but it’s a brick in my backpack in comparison… what is your preference after trying everything 😅😊

I have been waiting for an 15" air. I am coming from a 16" MBP down to the air. I find myself never wanting to take my 16" with me anywhere bc it is so clunky. But I can't stand the small screen on the 13" I def fall into the 15" Air category!

I had 13”24 gb ram ,2 tb sold on OfferUp for $1800 and purchase the 15”with 24 gb ram ,2 tb for $2443 total with education discount and tax in ,i would say 15” way better Bcz screen is bigger and sound is great other then both same speed .I am gonna sale my 16” now Bcz overkill for me :) Go for 15”

@@JerrySchulze Yeah. That was why I went with the 13 inch model rather than the 15 inch. But for desk use, I do have a 16 inch M1 MBP--which is just too large for everyday use on my lap and on the coffee table.

I decided to jump the gun and buy the MacBook Air 15 inch but with 24GB RAM and leave the 256GB SSD since I have an 5TB external hard drive and seems people worry too much on storage due to only 1 chip which I get but after seeing so many videos and RU-vidrs doing “benchmarks” cause I don’t think I’ll see any difference in the SSD and I’m sure it can run very well with a lot of applications and especially having a gaming monitor so I don’t need a Pro MacBook, yes people will say I should have gone with the Pro but people underestimate how good the M2 Air is and it’s portability, I’d say if you love the M2 Air, go for It, just make sure to get more RAM whether it’s 16 or 24GB rather than storage

No way I would get more ram over storage. This argument has been debunked so many times due to Mac OS and how it’s optimized . The ram swap is ultra fast and I can open 99 tracks in logic x without any issues . Theres literally no difference between 8 and 16. But having to store everything on an external drive is just pain in the ass

The issue is the price. 8/256GB is not enough for pretty much anyone to get things done, so by the time you’ve gone 16/512GB which let’s be honest should be the base spec now, then you can get a referb’d 14 MBP and that’s a significantly better device in every measurable way. Just get the 14” MBP

I have been using 8GB/256GB and no issues. I am a typical ultrabook user. If you have a workflow needing more power and RAM then yes look at a MB Pro, and that is blatantly obvious. But we have three MB Airs in the family, all base and they all run smoothly as long as you use common sense. The base MB Air M2 15 is already £120 off in the UK so is £600-700 less than the base MB Pro 14 M2. That is a hell of a difference and I can buy an iPad Pro with what I save. I recommend doing that rather than buying a MB Pro 14.

You can find a discounted 15" MBA just as much as you can get a refurb 14 MBP. There isn't a more tangible benefit than screen real estate when comparing the current lineup.

Videos can be improved: avoid mistakes (ex: it's 13" not 12"), add texts on screen when mentioning metrics (you don't want the viewers to wonder or do mental calculations), do a bit of research where the speakers are.

Apple would only go to 16GB/512GB as base if they increased the price by around $250-300 to compensate for the massive losses changing the base would cause. The issue then is that will risk lower demand (base price much higher) and less sales and again losses. Apple is a business and has run the numbers. No company changes something to lose money as that is dumb. From history we know if Apple went 16GB/512GB it would have zero effect on boosting sales as Windows has a natural monopoly and there is a glass ceiling of around 10% buying Macs, as wwell as forcing Windows OEMs to match. It ain't bull, it is simple good business.
