Gardening is a great hobby and a great stress-reliever and an anti-depressant! Many of them take up this hobby with full interest, but very few continue with it. One of the many reasons people discontinue gardening is the lack of success in their gardening journey because of lack of patience and certain silly mistakes they do when it comes to gardening.

You speak practicality. I think I did mistake in potting soil. I mixed sarsoan khali powder in construction sand, vermin compost with normal soil. My plants are ok, bt in some leaves are curling. Can you show me an easy way out. I cant change soil but what I can add to make it good. Please.

If it’s too compacted adding enough compost like decomposed cow dung powder is one option, cocopeat. Remove or loosen the top two inches and add these two mixed together. If you have gypsum powder add a handful to each pot.

It is impossible to grow flowers in my house. No matter what i do. Not even hardy plants like vinca, Portulaca etc survive. We get about 4 hours sunlight per day through the year as the windows are in the west and south directions. The next building is on the west. What could be the problem? With repeated failures for a long time i have stopped keeping flowering plants. Now pot non flowering plants only. Trying to know how i can get flowering plants to survive.

You can control watering easily by monitoring soil + plant absorption. Apply in moderation and watch for results. This formula helps me greatly. You can tell if the plant dips or perks. Observe. Talk to it. The plant will tell you!!!!!

Absolutely. Add water when your plants need it, they will tell you this quickly, Or better, figure out how much water they are actually using and top up periodically based on that. Drowning is a horrible way to die,

Also many weeds that grow in the average newbies garden are actually edible, like for instance the plant you pulled out of the pot, that is called French sorrel and it Taste lemony and tarty and is great as a herb or tart filling

GARDEN TIPS there are actually 3 plants that look like clover, there is clover (also edible) has 3 circular leaves, wood sorrel (also edible) has 3 heart shaped leaves - tastes extremely tarty/citrusy and French sorrel (also edible) looks like wood sorrel except has a bulb witch leaves grow out of - tastes mildly lemony/tarty

I get confused when plant label says, full direct sun. It gets over 100 degrees f here. So I give morning sun. Then try to shade partially, past 85 degrees f. That mostly works. My broccoli lived 4 years. Lol

I live in Phoenix area and here in hot hot hot, on April 25 and we are 100 and that is spring. It is very difficult but it is wise to say that we must plant what is tolerant to the climate of where one lives, I can not put a saguaro in New York, I kill it that simple.

In my opinion the out of season sowing of seeds is one of the most common mistake. We see blooming flowering plants somewhere and want to have the same plants in our garden and go for sowing or planting the same plants even when the season is over. The second mistake is that we see some plants which we like in planes and try to plant these in hilly areas where these can't grow due to different weather conditions. Im emotionally attached to my plants as u rightly said. 😆 Is it good to so mango seed in summer. Its about 42°C here in U.P, India. I have already sown 2 seeds, they sprouted and leaves also appeared but the leaves soon drooped and I almost cried. Pls help!

I started gardening when I was in class 12.it was then when I was growing winter plants during summer keeping them in shade ,thinking it was dying of direct sunlight however the real reason for their disintegration was that those were winter annuals.

Also I have a question how come almost all the plants you grow, grow in heavy clay soils when you buy/grow them (I don’t know where you get them from - here in Australia almost all potted plants are grown in potting mix or some form of organic matter

Happy_Smiles246 here in India the most local nursery guys use this - perhaps to water less frequently. Most of them I repot with potting mixes.

GARDEN TIPS my only concern with the clay soil is that it is alkaline, hold way to much water, causes a high risk of root rot and it could be compacted - stunting root growth

Also about the pest management, (what I’m about to say is a bit controversial so here me out) let’s say if you were to plant 5 different types of tomatoes, all die to pests except 2 so you keep those 2 species and keep on growing them, then you can try cross breeding them other tomatoes to make them resistant, then overtime you develop strains of tomatoes that are resistant to pests - therefore giving you higher yields

I put lady bugs in my plants so they eat the aphids. My biggest mistake was making compost with Callistemon leaves. Even though those leaves smell very similar to eucalyptus, I didn't realize that they kill plants different for them.

As a new Gardener I think Mine is a the soil. Not adding a course sand to help with drainage or even coconut coir or perilite if it does not already have any. I did know about compost. I am planning on starting to make some compost behind my store and once we find our new house I am going to start some thier along with a worm farm.

So You are saying to take say your flat of Petunias and when u go to planting to plant them in deifferent areas of the area u are planting in. Then in those spaces add a companion ant or guess U could say Vegetable? NOT in one big clump?

Sir it's just a request if you can help us I have seen a video of cocktail fertilizer but it's very difficult for us to get all the stuff and mix all in proper proposition, so if you can directly provide us a cocktail mix fertilizer that will be great. Please don't mind but whatever the charges would be there we are ready to pay atleast we would get a fertilizer with all nutritional benefits n will not make mistake in fertilizing our plants It's a humble request to you. For methi etc you don’t need synthetic fertilisers. Just soil with 30 percent compost like vermicompost or cowdung powder.

I think it's the top three sun and water requirements are the 2, I tell peop!e to move in or out of sunlight and or water more of less. To me the biggest thing is, killing of the insects ! People say omg, I was digging and saw all these worms, so I planted elsewhere !?. Or I sprayed my whole hard and I don't have any bees and bugs now !!! Can't really be a gardener if bugs freak you out lol.

I made the sun mistake... Put new seedlings under hot sun for the whole morning, came back in the afternoon to realise their leaves are curl up and saggy... Pls tell me that they could be safe again... I put them back to my room for indirect sunlight, hope it could work

I found such an easy way to germinate my seeds without having to wait a week to 2 weeks. Thx for sharing. I have done this for a long time now and grow all kinds of veggies herbs and flowering plants. It's always good to learn other techniques.

I think its the watering with me, but I've colour coded some sticks and put them in my pots. So now I know blue sticks need regular water whereas red sticks are once a week for water. I love your videos, thanks for making them.

I'm so happy I found your channel :) I think one of the mistakes people make is thinking plants doesn't need proper care and attention. Some people buy plants and not water for days and not pot in proper soil, or place in a good place for enough shade and sunlight. I think if you do not have the time or patience to take care of plants then they shouldn't buy it. I hate to see plants suffering for water and dying :(

My biggest problem was not listed here :( but I have been looking desperately for the answer. I am growing mangos, tomatoes, chilies, avocados, and others, but my problem is infestation of a little, black annoying fly, it just shows on anything I plant and reproduce fast, on my inside plants as well as outside. I tried vinegar with dish soap, ginger tea, stickers you name it, and nothing works. My plants don't seem to mind them, but I do because they should not be there. I have little a green room for my inside plants, they are there, also they get in my kitchen sometimes even when is always clean and no food exposure. Some people tell me they are called "fruit flies" I am just to give up on all gardening just because of these tiny flies. Any idea please I am desperate to get rid of these bugs? Thank you.

My mistake was fertilization plant when it was in under stress due to root pruning and transplantation. It was most silly mistake that make me know not to fertilize at that stage of time.

Our peace Lilly plant leaves is turning brown at edges n the brown is increasing it's surface more n more till the leaf gradually eaten up by it....what to do for it ? Pls give a remedy for it sir ??

No direct sunlight for peace Lily. Keep in shade. No over fertilisers. Once in a month and lesser quantity.

May I also add, Peace Lilly plants certainly do no like bright light . I have several around my home all taken from one plant by division. They are in varying degrees of natural lighting, and the one in the lowest level ( also one that came off the main plant) has grown the strongest by quite a margin, dark green leaves, all plump, tight clumps increasing in girth. The other Peace Lillies are doing ok, but nothing like the one in the shadiest room. It was a small plant and its huge now and for the first time flowers have been seen developing in four stems. I gets a complete soaking when the top of the compost is dry to about an inch and a half. I place it tilting in sink until no more water escapes and replace in position, turning every few days. So many people have thought its plastic. I use Osmocote pellets. They seem to do better with that than Baby Bio which is a high selling houseplant food in Uk.

Perhaps fungus gnats- google fungus gnats in soil.

ive pretty much made all the mistakes you pointed out at one point or another in the last couple of years. I am a home grower which means i grow in pots and indoors. Lost my home during the storm and no longer have access to ground planting and growing so to feed my gardening passion i started indoor gardening 5 years ago and i stumbled and learned. But i feel the biggest mistake that people make is not fertilizing and over or under watering for two reasons 1. people assume like you said that plants only need the sun and water to grow so they don't fertilize and Watering. they only look at the top of the soil and assume that the plants need water.

Lot of solutions - like beer trap, egg shells crumbled pieces on the soil, copper like copper wires or windings or tapes, wood ash, ginger, Epsom salt and so on...

Ok. Now I got companion with emotional stressssss..... maybe i can also talk to my plant about it... 😅😅😅 ... Seriously, thanks so much for sharing this. I got problem 101, yellow + burning of the leaves thingy. Overfertilizer. 🤪🤪 now giving them shower with plain water to wash the excess fert.
