Why do you show American flooding and flags and homes while telling about a huge disaster that killed 200,000 people in China ? There must be some file footage of the disaster out in the archives, if you do your research ! ✌️🇨🇦
Or at least make sure stock footage doesn’t have entirely different countries flag in it, was rather obvious but still a great put together video though.
St Francis was a real dam that leads down to the Santa clarita river. Baldwin hills is a earthen reservoir not a dam. There are a few like that in the Los Angeles area that get filled to store water and have no gates or spillway.
At some point humans need to start using the death penalty for people who cause these issues cuz of corruption and greed! We need to start saving this planet urgently and greed will always win out as long as there are no consequences
The ultra-rich got away scot free? You don’t say. Never heard of something like that happening before. Side note: Every time the narrator says “worst dam disaster” or something similar, I hear “worst damn disaster.” Just go to 12:53.
NOT THAT YOU'LL ANSWER BUT I'LL ASK ANYWAY BEFORE I UNSUBSCRIBE! WHY DO YOU THINK THAT IT'S NECESSARY TO TELL US THAT YOU'RE CONSTANTLY ADDING PEOPLE TO YOUR PAYROLL? DRIVES ALOT OF US TO UNSUBSCRIBE!!!
Why do you feel its necessary to even care about something so miniscule like that. Unsub im sure they don't even slightly care about you watching their free content.
Repent to Jesus Christ! Are you a sinner? Saint Luke 5:32 KJV I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. Saint Luke 13:3 KJV I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
"this accident was totally avoidable"! Bloody hell, how many times have you heard that statement over the years, after some tragedy has cost the lives of many innocent people, usually due to something like negligence, underfunding or just plain stupidity. It must be just what someone needs to hear after maybe losing their entire family and home in some tragedy like a dam collapse
To a lot of the dam designers, governments and billionaire dam owners, the benefits they get outweigh the risk. Something happens to go bad? Not their problem. Specifically in cases like Zhumadian and Johnstown.
There was a dam failure in Sweden in 1796 caused by an attempt to divert a river around some dangerous rapids and a waterfall. It wasn't really a dam failure, but a violent empying of a medium sized natural lake. The digging of the canal in combination with an unusually high spring flood caused a natural ridge to collapse and the whole lake of 300 million kubic meters of water, emptied out in four hours. Estimation is that the water flowed out of the lake at a rate of 35000 kubic meters every second, for four hours, causing catastrophic damage to the land as well as an earthquake. The lake was gone and the disaster created a whole new stretch of the river and several new islands. It created a new waterfall upstream and it completely dried up the 36 foot waterfall that they wanted to dig the canal around. A lot of mills and bridges as well as fields and pastures downstream were destroyed, but as the ridge burst at night, no human was killed. The new stretch of river allowed for the floating of timber, so in a way they did accomplish what they wanted. The farmers and Millers downstream who had their property destroyed weren't so happy though The disaster sparked a legal dispute that lasted all the way until 1975.
I can't even fathom the sight of a 250m wave coming down a mountain towards you. I've read and seen other videos about the Vajont Dam, and I still get an acute sense of dread every single time.
Vajont was super weird because the dam itself was actually perfectly strong, but putting it there created a reservoir in a dangerous landslide area, so a big piece of the mountain fell into the reservoir and pushed it all over the top of the dam. I'm not sure how one conceptualizes a seiche of that size - something similar happened in Alaska after a glacier collapsed, but we're talking millions of tons of material landing in a lake of millions of gallons... 250m wave is the logical outcome, but it's the same as dropping a stone in a pond, just on a ridiculous scale.
It’s impressive standing on top of a big dam. It’s scary seeing that last video with the dam still there but no water on either side. I went to the Fontana dam in west North Carolina and was in awe at the size. Hoover dam is on my bucket list
Most catastrophes I've noticed, wether a dam fail, theme park rides, bridge collapse etc, are all due to human negligence!! Humans suck!! If I was responsible for a dam failure that took thousands of lives, I COULD NOT LIVE WITH MYSELF!! The guilt would eat me alive. I just can't understand how people/businesses can just not take responsibility for killing thousands of people 😔😔
The end may be beginning now. What precedes the end? The destruction of organized religion; The attacks against religion (over abortion) seem to be hitting the Roman church the most and Biden, who is Catholic, is not acting to defend those churches. This is what the Bible says; Revelation 18:4 And I heard another voice out of heaven say: “Get out of her, my people, if you do not want to share with her in her sins, and if you do not want to receive part of her plagues. 5 For her sins have massed together clear up to heaven, and God has called her acts of injustice to mind. 6 Repay her in the way she treated others, yes, pay her back double for the things she has done; in the cup she has mixed, mix a double portion for her. 7 To the extent that she glorified herself and lived in shameless luxury, to that extent give her torment and mourning. For she keeps saying in her heart: ‘I sit as queen, and I am not a widow, and I will never see mourning.’ 8 That is why in one day her plagues will come, death and mourning and famine, and she will be completely burned with fire, because Jehovah God, who judged her, is strong. Paul described this tribulation as a righteous act of God against “those who do not know God and those who do not obey the good news” about Jesus Christ. Revelation chapter 19 shows Jesus as the one leading heavenly armies against “the wild beast and the kings of the earth and their armies.” (2Th 1:6-8; Re 19:11-21) This is good news and a blessing for those of us who have obeyed Jesus (John 3:36) and preached the Good News of His Kingdom (Matt 28:19, 20 & 24:14). And death will be no more … neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” This is from Rev 21:4 and this verse is in the Bible to give us hope for the near future. That is correct; the NEAR future. It is very easy to sense that world wide problems are fast multiplying, and the reason is that the ruler of this world (Luke 4:5-8) knows very well that his time of rule is soon to end. The future is indeed bright, for those who understand and have made the changes needed that will permit them to survive the Great Tribulation. We are told in the Bible that a GREAT CROWD that no man can number will exit the Great Tribulation (Rev 7:9). Jesus told us; John 11:26 …and everyone who is living and exercises faith in me will never die at all. -- Exercising faith in Jesus means to obey him. This is why we have the warning in John 3:36 The one who exercises faith in the Son has everlasting life; the one who disobeys the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God remains upon him. -- This is very simple. Why did Adam die? Nothing has changed since the beginning. Those who refuse to obey King Jesus now will not live through the Great Tribulation. Those who chose to obey Jesus WILL live through the Great Tribulation and enter into the new system of things here, on the earth. If you want to know more, please email me at rich5151@gmx.com. You may also find this Bible study guide very helpful; FREE - Bible study course -- www.jw.org/en/bible-teachings/guided-bible-study-course/ Rev 21:22 I did not see a temple (church) in it (New Jerusalem), for Jehovah God the Almighty is its temple, also the Lamb is. First-century Christianity had no temples, built no altars, used no crucifixes, and sponsored no garbed and betitled ecclesiastics. Early Christians celebrated no state holidays and refused all military service. “A careful review of all the information available goes to show that, until the time of Marcus Aurelius [who ruled 161-180 C.E.], no Christian became a soldier; and no soldier, after becoming a Christian, remained in military service.”-The Rise of Christianity, by E. Barnes, 1947, p. 333.
Zumadian Dam collapse, some of the video was taped in AMERICA NOT Ciina! Even the US flag could be seen whilst you been trying to lead your audience this was CHINA! 14:37.
Johnstown has had 2 dam failures of note, the most famous being the worst dam break in US history: the South Fork Fishing and Hunting Club Dam failure on May 31, 1889 that sent 20 million tons of water racing downstream through the mountain for 14 miles with a wave as tall as 4o feet smashing into the town. Along the way 2,209 people were killed. The other dam break occurred in the early morning hours of July 20, 1977 when the Laurel Run Dam broke and released 101 million gallons of water during heavy rains and pretty much destroyed the Tanneryville section of Johnstown. This failure occurred during another flooding event in Johnstown that claimed a total of 84 lives (40 from the dam break alone).
Why are government bodies, millionaires and billionaires so stupid, lazy and greedy? It's not just this video, but many other ones where they are involved people usually end up dying because of them. It's been happening since the dawn of man and I don't see it stopping any time soon.
I was almost called to be a juror for the Kaloko Dam Lawsuit against pflueger.... I knew 1 person that died I was exempt from being called for jury duty... I HAD ALREADY MADE UP MY MIND OF A GUILTY VERDICT!!!
I don't know who was doing your editing but at 14min39secs the discussion on a Chinese dam failure clearly showed flooding in USA. And not from a Dam failure if my memory serves correctly. Less fraud & hype please.
the last dam did not fail because it was filled up too much or because it held too much water but because they released too much water from it at once at a wrong time. thus the landslide into it. there is a whole documentary about it.
There is something stupid about a damn failure video that starts with something that’s not a damn even more stupid when the second one covers the same type. Even worse when it happens 4 times in the same list. A retention pond is not a dam.
"The builders of the Vaiont dam likely focused more on aesthetics than reality..." You can't accuse Italians of not prioritizing style......ever.....on anything.
Can somone explain the first video because it looks like the ground is collapsing like a landslide but there is water after that i cant see where the dam is 😬
What your seeing collapse is the damn. It was a tailings damn made with waste water and materials from mining the surface looked solid but the liquid underneath was heavily contaminated with heavy metals
You left out the San Francisquito Dam failure in Southern Calif in the 1920's which sent a wall of water down the Ventura River to the sea and wiped out the town of Fillmore.
I grew up in LA and remember that the devastation from this disaster was still visible in the bed of the Santa Clara river in the late sixties. 40 years after, whole sections of the riverbed, some more than 1/4 mile wide, had no trees, soil or anything; excepting granite boulders. It really did look like pictures of the moon.
@Top Fives love your videos in have one big problem with this video the Johnstown Dam or Southfork dam failure was not in 1989 it was in 1889 just so you know

Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view !" Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam." Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!" Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..." Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!" Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky." Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction." Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment ?"
Just to give you the scale of Vajont (not dam failure) disaster: 1 mile the length of landslide front and half a mile the height of it, 250 millions cubic meters of terrain glided in the basin at 60mph in less than a minute, the shock wave that run ahead of the 30 cubic millions (not 500) of spilled water in the deep narrow gorge as powerful as the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima which its self produced most of the destruction of Longarone city, 70 meters high the water wave the followed, 4 minutes the time all these events took to befall.
Hear it is not mentioned the tragedy when Machhu dam on Machhu river in Gujarat, India collapsed in about 1978 or so, when Water lavel flown more then 18 feet high in all over nearby city Morbi which couse about 25000 (twenty five thousands) lives. Please refer the history of this great tragedy.
Normal damn failures: Poor material, seismic activities Italian damn failure: poor material, designed changed during construction, not waiting for the cement to dry ^^, failing 14 days after finishing What a piece of shit^^
Tetons damn that was a bureau of reclamation Dam so that's all on the government. What I learned later on and I wish I could remember the name but the Dam that is below was in bad shape and they weren't sure it was going to be able to hold that water without breaking. That lower Dam has since been rebuilt
Snake plain river? Haha, its just the snake river. Now the snake river plain I think would be all the farm lands along the snake river in the snake river valley, I guess it is kinda confusing. But anyway the Teton dam was on the Teton river.
14:33 The American flag standing in front of the house kind of gives away that this video clip is NOT from the Chinese flood the narrator is discussing at this time.
Many of these dams were designed by amateurs and the rest by supposedly qualified “engineers”, yet they collapsed. I see a niche opportunity for myself as a dam designer. I will happily accept (much) money to draft plans for dams that cannot be more incompetent than those in this video. If I had the hubris to do so I don’t doubt I could find idiots willing to pay me.
Dam project is usually quite a major project because of the huge cost involves. The problem is usually because of lack of environmental impact assessment prior to the design stage, often due to government shady dealings with the contractor they hired for the dam.
Min. 12:16 why the lady on the left looks like she’s on hills and tie jeans like today’s modern world girls use and the other guys are wearing back then clothes
Engineers: to repair this dam, it will cost you a couple million. It needs repair ASAP. CEOs: duuuur, naw, it's ok. I will just lose billions when it fails, huuurrrrrr
love how the commentator sounds like charlie sheen, unlike a lot of the others who put on that really annoying american voice with the long slow pronunciation,
