I’m 53. Noticed last couple of years I was less and less stable on skates and feet were frequently not in right position, I run to keep in shape but that was not helping the hockey legs. I’ve done this work out 7 times to date. After two work outs, I scored more not because my shot was better but I was in better places and stronger on skates. I only do two sets and always close to lowest number of reps at start. I was a goal every other game. Have scored 9 times in 7 games. Legs drills help and thank you.

You would have to speak to a local sports physiotherapist for exercise substitutions as injury management recommendations is something that's too difficult to do in a RU-vid comments section due to the wide variety of variables.

How many calories do you think going through this whole set burns?
@hockeytraining
@hockeytraining 6 лет назад
Likely somewhere in the 200-300 range, but, energy expenditure estimations using wearable fitness technology in the research have been demonstrated to have an error of up to 40% -- so I don't ever track calorie expenditure in training with my athletes, just calorie intake via food/drink.

All you can do is do your best! I recommend getting on a dryland hockey training program so you can strengthen your hockey-specific muscles before getting on the ice. Look around the channel for some good ideas and don't forget our new app called "Hockey Training TV" that includes bodyweight-only workouts that you can do at home during quarantine while you build yourself up 👍💪

This would be considred moreso a "back up" workout if you were really pressed for time that day. If you're serious about gaining muscle and improving performance then you'll need to be on a fully designed program: www.hockeytraining.com/programs

Do I get double speed boost if I do 6 sets; In all seriousness tho is there anyway positives for doing extra reps and sets
@hockeytraining
@hockeytraining 3 года назад
No, more is not better when it comes to training. If you're on a complete program design (which you should be!), then you will already have all of your bases covered and there is no need for extra work because everything is already built into the system. 💪

These are 15 INTENSE minutes!! Holy c***p My son is still doing them; I threw the towel! LOL But I'm sure when he's finally back to hockey training after the quarantine he'll be in top shape!

How long should a session last (off ice training) for a 10 yr old. Elite level.

This depends on a lot of factors Mike, but if I had to just throw a number out there I would say anywhere from 15-45mins.

How many times a week do I need to do this, if there is one training on ice?
@hockeytraining
@hockeytraining 6 лет назад
This would ideally be a workout that you would do if you needed a quick session in due to a busy and/or unpredictable schedule--as opposed to something you program regularly into your routine. Having said that, this is something you would be able to successfully do 5-6 days per week since the recovery demand would be low.
