Im studying medical billing and coding. When I'm done, there are plenty of jobs available. The pay scale starts low and goes up up up! My husband makes a great salary which we invest. I'm a minimalist, so we rarely spend money. If we do buy something, we buy the good stuff. Im setting up an online business, too. I trained to sell insurance, but hated it.

I respectfully disagree with having children young. Too many old people are now having children. Yes you can throw the money at they education etc but you won’t be around for long and you won’t understand their world, needs and aspirations as you lived in different times. # 13: Perpetual money pit. You forgot Timeshares, if you want to get rid of it, you can't. There are companies who says in their advertisement, They can help you get rid of your Timeshare. I paid a company to do that for me back in 2018, I'm still paying the yearly maintenance fees after all these years.

@@deepaksubramony5438 I am in an upscale resort called Orange Lake Resort, it's in Kissimmee. I am paying monthly so it doesn't hit me all at once. I think it's around $1,150 yearly, I am paying $95 and some odd cents per month. Most of the times I am comfortable with it, then at times I want to get rid of it. It's on the first floor, so I don't have to lug up luggage. And my parking spot is right in front of the apartment. It's pretty good. It's a 2 bedroom apartment, with a great master bath.

That, for me is an expensive mistake! So, if this thread of belief is to be embraced, the college experience is all about finding a high paying job. This discounts and ignores the value in having ones understandings challenged and expanded... learning about oneself and creating thinking, reflective people who are able to question the status quo and discern between what's important in life vs. merely amassing wealth, or making money. There's tremendous value in growing as rational, reflective, mature thinkers. Higher ed ought not be reduced to mere pragmatic earning concerns. With that said, students ought to weigh the cost of education and align your choices with the vision or plan for future. Ie: if you want to be a teacher, accruing debt by attending an ivy league school is illogical. I have so many thoughts re: this topic. Having a 'practical' degree itself does not make one particularly wise.

As someone who recently finished University & is an engineer, agree that degrees are overhyped. I graduated without debt (via scholarships & wages from me + parents), but many in my area came out with 40-70g negative. If you’re keen on a specific field which requires certification, so be it, but please evaluate the financials as a risk you can afford before entering. Also trade schools, starting your own business, or learning craft via RU-vid & flipping that as a freelancer (ex: video editors) are also valid ways to make a living.

"15 Living someone else's version of your life." I fell into this trap myself. Only after my parents died and my sister and I compared notes was it clear what happened. Caution with organized mental health: it does not recognize the possibility that when beliefs are imputed to a child by its parents and teachers (if I was in Billy's position, I would like X, so I know that Billy likes X and I don't have to ask him) emotional damage is likely to result, and when I published a short commentary about that form of child abuse in a medical journal I received hate email but no scholarly refutation. Of course when this treatment of children occurs, they may accept the attitudes and preferences forced on them and never develop their own. Lack of unrestrained development of emotional expressions and ordinary preferences and willpower is almost certain to lead to mental illness. I think the outcome is likely to include autism. Organized mental health does not recognize or inquire about this concept. I don't trust it. I am arguably on the autistic spectrum (high-functioning) and insist that such treatment by parents and teachers materially contributes to autism. With that background, it's probable that someone who follows someone else's script is unaware of the distortion that doing so imposes. I wrote a short book on recovering from abuse.
