Yeah idk how people survive without their solar generator…soooo no knife? No container for water procurement? No tarp for when it’s raining and windy? No cordage for lashing things together? This sure is a comprehensive list glad I had my tactile pen can ward off strangers I might meet in the wilderness miles from nowhere during a survival situation I’ll write them a disturbing note to keep them at bay
I agree it is incomplete. A seed vault is useless if the person does not know how to garden. I do have a seed vault AND I have seeds stored up from what I have already grown. It is a continuing learning curve since I try new things every year and learn from my mistakes or just bad luck. make your mistakes now while it is not fatal to do so.
Some of these items are almost luxury items! The manual water desalinator for example; all you need to remove salt from water is to change it's form to either ice or steam. Boiling water is the easiest way but even a solar still will work! The key is to direct the steam (like thru coils of copper tubing) to cool it back to a liquid state and you have pure water! In a medical kit, iodine is better than alcohol or hydrogen peroxide because both of these will increase the damage to the tissues of a wound! Also, iodine can be used to treat water! You spoke of fire starting tools specifying a ferro rod but a lighter(s) (more is better) provides both spark and sustained flame whereas the ferro rod only provides sparks so good tender is required as well! Also, they are great barter items! The 'emergency' blankets are barely better-than-nothing; invest in a good wool blanket and poncho at a minimum! Too much emphasis is placed on electronics, reliable electrical power has only been available for a very short amount of human existence and the electrical grid is quite fragile to damage by nature or man-made problems whether by accident, incompetence, or deliberate sabotage!
