i mean the millions they get paid for it kinda helps. besides have you ever tried dealing with difficult customers in retail? that’s probably even more difficult
i think just wearing it for 8 to 12 hrs is also painful. Imagine acting and performing well through it too being recorded by fancy cameras. pressure is even more so. both shared pressure in a different way. all jobs do for that matter.
this makes me feel bad for the make up artists though. the actors at least get paid in millions or even billions but the make up artists have to stand around for hours applying and removing their makeup while some actors doesn't even have the good manners to appreciate their effort.
No actor gets paid billion, the richest actor has like 400mil or smt and that’s already after being in loads and loads of movies, but yh I do agree with you I feel bad for the makeup artists too, my arm would ache after doing that for so long XD
What these ARTISTS go through, to ENTERTAIN us! THANK YOU! Your sacrifices have not gone unnoticed!! A FANTASTIC JOB to all of the artists that create these looks for the actors. Without these people, movies wouldn't be the MASTERPIECES they are! THANK YOU, EVERYONE!!

I think it's kind of funny when you read that it's painful for the across and the narrator says it couldn't possibly be comfortable for them and then right after that the actor says "it's like having a nice cozy cocoon around your head" doesn't really sound like it was that painful for some of them 4:47
These are present day actors. The real pain came from actors back in the Golden Age of cinema: Charles Laughton in the Hunchback of Notre Dame whose wife Elsa Lanchester said he would come home everyday and weep from the welts on his body - Buddy Ebsen who almost died from the Aluminum body powder that got into his lungs as the Tin Man on the Wizard of OZ - let alone Bert Lahr and Ray Bolger who said taking off the burlap face mask for the Scarecrow felt like tearing off a thousand band-aids ... these folks have got it easy compared to the early actors.
Plus in The Vampire Diaries, actors had to wear HUGE contact lenses for vampire red eyes, that hurted their eyes so badly. Ian said he cried like a baby when he wore the lenses.
Many of you are saying how well they're paid, but there's probably nothing in their contract in the event something odd happens like an allergy or disfigurement. I can relate to the allergy part...and in a near-death manner. I took Enbrel injections in 2017 for almost 2 months until one day, my 5th injection, within 4 hours caused 70% of my body to break out in 2nd & 3rd degree burns. I had to be rushed to the ER. I'll forever have some sort of rash, scarring, & the inability to have any other injections for any reason w/o risking complications or even death. My reaction was so complex that the doctors told me if I ever take another Enbrel shot & die...they'll write my death off as a suicide. They say I've been warned. Hopefully my comment saves someone my fate. I truly cried watching this video...I feel their agony.
It is interesting to know how long it takes to put all the make-up on. I just don't get how is possible that a lot of these actors experienced allergic reactions, itching and even pain from makeup, paint meant to be painted on the skin or from eye lenses. How is it possible that they do not get products which don't irritate the skin and eyes? E.g I am wearing contact lenses and they don't hurt if applied correctly.
It sad the horrors' have to endure, imagine making more money that I do in a lifetime and have to wear something uncomfortable. I I though packing shingles onto a roof up a later in extreme heat was tough.
Yooo my thoughts exactly! Most of these they made of way more dramatic than what the actor was actually feeling it seems like. Like can you let the actors speak for themselves?? Geez. Only a couple of these were ones where the actors came out publicly and said they were uncomfortable! This is why I hate videos like this I don't know why I'm here lol, I just love prosthetic makeup.
I Love Angelina so much. imagine, instead of seeing it as a problem or say a challenge, she rather saw it as living her Fantasy. I respect you ma'am 🤗🥰
"Soooo painful for 9 hours on this poor childs head did i mention how painful it was " Child, cheerfullly: "It was like a nice cozy blanket on my head"
@@Winchester_0011 well, to be fair there are quite literally millions of people that has more or equal pain in the ass jobs, and they don't get millions of dollars for it. Not to mention "suck it up" is pretty universal. Cracked my skull open at work one time, my boss called me when I was in the ICU the day after bitching about me not being at work. He was there when I cracked it. (took 2 weeks of sick leave then I quit.)
MUA's have to set everything up beforehand so they're often on set way before the acting crew. And they have very bulky kits they have to lug around, on top of that they have to keep everything sanitary and clean. And for prosthetics, they have to sculpt/dye/paint/lay down hair/and then they have to make dozens of duplicates of the exact same prosthetic and make sure every single copy is an EXACT replica. And in order to do prosthetics, they have to make a casting of the body-part that is getting the prosthesis so it fits correctly. Loads of trials and errors and trial runs with the actors/actresses to get everything perfect and good to go for the actual shooting. Theres a lot involved in SFX MUA work lol. They even have to make multiple copies of props, teeth, and various other things.
What Ryan Reynolds did was not cool. I get that it must be frustrating to keep that make up on for so long but think about the makeup artists, they had to STAND for 10 hours and not just that but also apply all that makeup with perfect precision. Do you know how exhausting that can be?
@@sheek_side nah, you don't understand how exhausting being a makeup artist can be. i do makeup looks on myself for tiktok but ive had to sit for 10 hours doing makeup looks and it completely kills your back. i cant imagine how painful it is for your body to have to STAND for 10+ hours daily
People can't read, apparently. Many like to speak about something before they read, research or watch videos. Or those who only read the title of an article and have a huge conniption fit, then they sound ignorant because they didn't read the full article.
I am a special effects makeup artist and it is so challenging for the actors and models, I also want to bring to like how hard it is on our body too, we are hunched over for hours on end applying this stuff and it is not easy to work with, not to mention the continuity that is so detailed and has to be perfect, my brain is fried after a day working on a film set. I appreciate all makeup artists of people who have had to sit in the makeup chair immensely.
also every entry is literally "hurr durr make up take long time". Like dude, we get it, effect make up takes a long time to apply. this is common knowledge.
What Ryan did wasn't a "prank". It was being a downright jerk! Those makeup artists worked long hours, trying to get every detail right, and he just ripped it all off!
I really hate the movie solely because of their choice to let a ablebodied actor play that role. It does not feel right to me to take a ablebodied actor and just put prosthetics on him to make him look like the has a genetic disorder/ disability. There are people, kids out there who can‘t put down any prosthetics and really look like this.
@The Guy A prank? Your kidding right- The makeup artists stood for hours to do Ryan's complicated makeup and he just takes it off. Imagine you were a makeup artist and the actor takes off all your hard work
@foodsquad a prank is something funny that doesn't harm someone or make them feel like shit. It's a lighthearted joke. Ryan doing that was just a dick move. You can see the artists being pissed cuz there goes all their work for nothing

@@muntakajannat7932 Omg this was a year ago bro I don't even remember what the video was about 😭 also they can take breaks or do certain parts sitting or switch out with other makeup artists shh
Actors and actresses are paid millions of dollars and they are aware of the make-up process involved in the role they agree to. Prosthetic make-up artists also have to stand for hours and work on perfecting these looks. Respect to the stars and their make-up artists.
The artists don’t make that much either. Also to learn that stuff you have it applied to you too. Trust me, a makeup artist knows what it feels like. I’ve been through it.
Narrator: There is no way it's comfortable staying in that for 9 hours Meanwhile.... Jacob: *smiling* it's like a nice fuzzy warm cocoon around your head :)
Imagine after hours of finishing makeup and acting the movie and took off all the hardwork makeup and u realised u weren't recording that would've been hell like srsly ಠ ل͟ ಠ
@@lishan4657 I feel for the make-up artists yeah, but when actors finish makeup, they have to go through wardrobe then onto the set for countless retakes with all that make-up on for hours until it's perfect. That alone takes strength. I would be exhausted just sitting in the chair alone
I got to personally meet Naomi Grossman at a horrorhound convention, i walked away from her table feeling like i could fly. I showed her some of my self-taught FX makeup and she said i was terrifying. She truly is an amazing woman for her role
Im just gonna say that, these actors/actress are quite good on their job like,,getting the perfect shade and paint a costume for 6hrs ,NOW THATS A BIG BOWL OF APPRECIATION 😊💕
