I use the C300 MKII, C300, C100, C100 MKII, XC10, XC15, and C200 and although my favorite of the bunch is the C300 MKII, the C100 MKII is probably my favorite to operate. The weight is good, buttons are good, handle is great, and the monitor is very good. There’s also something I can’t pinpoint that makes me love operating the camera. It’s got that X factor.
Just got c100 mkii. 1400 bucks. Love nifty fivity on it set f4. I turn off continuous AF, set WiFi and set one shot AF. Stand in front and hit tablet. F4 allow 1/2 foot movement keeping me sharp and so I can move off center from the AF box. Gets rid of autofocus noise. Run 3 godox 60s. XLR mic too. If your interested you can look at my Video on c100 studio test. It's quick 50 mm test with backdrop used for portrait photography. Get idea of distance needed from camera to subject to background for fixed prime
Absolutely love this camera! I’ve been shooting with it the past 5-6 months and it has been a TRUE pleasure. I’ve even mixed the footage with the gh5s, ursa mini pro 4.6k, and the bmpcc 6k, and the c100 mkii does not miss a beat. It’s a pro camera, and was clearly built to last.
Good points Michael -I bought the C100M2 in 2019 after using one at work for 3 years. I understand why Canon still makes it and people still buy it in 2021! Just so well designed, reliable and solid image quality. Also agree the crazy battery life and small files that are remarkably gradable - really a joy to work with in post. I have mixed feelings about it's low light performance but it's so sharp that you can apply noise reduction in post and still not lose detail. (I like Neat HD). Interesting the points you pick for your pet peeves. My biggest complain is that you can't move the autofocus point - it's right dead center. It would be great if you could move it around with the joystick.
Awesome stuff I’m loving your channel I’m semi novus lol but I’m learning fast about pros and cons of different brands of camcorders and features. Sometimes you get locked into a specific brand and dont want to change but I’m starting to like these full frame canon kits. Awesome 👏
Thanks for this! I did not know about the lack of Auto ISO, but that's OK. For everything else the camera can do, I'll take that one L, haha! Great video and review. Thanks again!
@@MichaelWTurner I'm looking to grab another cam and I think I will start devoting some time to HD. I think that too many of the beginners are getting the wrong picture about 4K vs HD. Not to say 4K is not good, but to really try and get them to understand the HD is good as well.

To overcome lack of Auto ISO. I set my ISO to depending on location and use auto Iris for run and gun light levels changing constantly. This feature works with some select lens only. It works with my EF-S 10 to18mm and 18 to 135 and 5 others I think.

Interesting to see if you use cine camera from now on or go back to camcorders or use both.
Hi Mike, hope your day is going well. Stumbled across your channel while looking for data on a new camera. You really sold me on the C100 m2, but I have a question for you in regards to low light. I shoot videos for my kids show choir performances (if you don’t know what that is, check out my channel, there should be some public videos there). Anyway, it is usually in a High School auditorium or gym, and while the stage is lit, the audience area where I shoot from (sometimes up to 100 feet away) is dark, as the house lights are off. Any thoughts on how this camera will perform in this setting? If it is not up to the task, I am open to suggestions. I have been looking at the A7iii, but am of the mindset that it is much more cost-effective, and user-friendly to use a camcorder vs a mirror less point and shoot. Open to any and all suggestions on this, what lenses, or anything else you may find helpful. By the way, I am currently shooting these with an iPhone 8s Plus through Filmic Pro, so anything is an upgrade. Thanks much!
Have you sussed out any external monitors? I don't need the recording ones considering the 128k chips holds plenty Im just thinking sharper and clearer.
I looked into these, but I feel they are overpriced for what you get. The zoom range isn't the greatest, no power zoom, one of them only records 4k to a cfast card, and there were other things that I can't really remember. But when I had the sony nx80 and the canon xf400, I seriously looked into either xc models, but they didn't seem to be worth the money. I like the form factor of them though. I hope canon improves them a little and maybe throws a mft sensor in there or something
@@MichaelWTurner Understandable, I didn't know much about them and I figured you would have some idea why they did not sell too well. The points you mentioned seems to be synonymous with a couple vids I saw. It is a shame actually because they could have been a good combo with the C100, 200, 300, and etc. if they would have put more thought into them. Most likely would have paid good dividends as the popularity of the C brand continues to rise.
I must be used to eos r touch screen and small factor and auto iso and facial tracking! The C100 ii has no auto iso no facial tracking no touch screen ?
Yes, you can. Contact Canon for more info. It used to be a $500 fee I believe. But if buying used, there are plenty that have the upgrade already installed
I had it for sale because of the pandemic. My work slowed to a crawl and it was sitting on the shelf. I used it for two weddings this past month though, so thing are finally picking up. As of now it's staying with me, just forgot to modify the used gear
