Moved to NZ from South Africa. What a breath of fresh air! In NZ, everything just works. It's clean and well maintained. NZ is a stunning country and I love the people.

In all of these videos, people are referring to the income / low wage vs the high cost of things and I'm trying to determine how big of an issue it really is and if it would be better to look at a different country to emigrate to. I don't really know how to determine that before making any decisions. I am also from South Africa.

Hi Anna, thank you for the great video, the only thing I will say is be careful with your personal belongings in public places because while it is mostly ok, there will be the odd crook who will steal things that are unattended, I would also say to lock your home before you leave, if nothing else do it for insurance reasons. It's good to have you here, we're always happy to have wonderful people from around the world living here as part of our big Kiwi family. 🙂

Having been twice in New Zealand, I agree with your insights. Once in New York I tried to buy just normal milk with no chemicals but I couldn't get it in that supermarket and had to search for it elsewhere. I would say that boarding a flight without a security check is also very unique. This was common elsewhere too, but has all changed after 2001. I think what makes you feel so good there is your good English language skills. If you had similar German or Serbian levels, the experience in those countries would have been different too. Locals always appreciate if foreigners make an effort to adapt. The main problem in New Zealand is the low wage level. That is why many young people have left to work in Australia, the UK or other places. You should compare gasoline or car prices to wages, or how long someone has to work to buy an iPhone or a laptop.

So New Zealand really is amazing and out of this world for us from Eastern Europe. I am a NZ citizen and have lived there for 17 years now back in Bulgaria for a few years and then back to Auckland again. Cant wait. But I totally get Anna, Serbia and Bulgaria are not safe, very corrupted, most people are unkind and miserable.....but they do have their reasons as both countries do not look after their citizens well at all

You can carve out a nice life in NZ on a lower income which is just not attainable in many places in the world, although compared to other first-world Western nations (US, AUS, etc) it is more of a struggle with respect to the wage-living cost imbalance. I understand why young, ambitious, career-driven people would like to get out but for people content with a slower pace of life and the smaller things, it is quite pleasant. The lower-income ruralites in particular enjoy a much nicer life than they would in other parts of the world. I think NZ has changed for the worse from when I was a kid but compared to most of the world, it still has a lot going for it.

Hello (name?) I have one thing to say never leave your money card because with credit cards here have paywave you don't need a pin number then anyone can tack money upto $80/day so " ANYONE " Can access your money use common sense (go with your gut) yes you are correct New Zealand is a safe place but I don't want you to think about it too much and worry but don't leave this that you can't afford to replace. All I am saying is have a great day and fun but also stay safe. I have an excellent example when you arrived you were alert with your surroundings right that's why New Zealand is safe because we never lost that 6th sense of who to trust and whom never to if you see something that makes you feel strange welcome your a Kiwi the reason you get alot of nice vibes is because we kiwi's feel it before you do once again welcome to New Zealand . Common sense is the best defense 😊🎉

@@simplenewzealandwithanna Hello Anna I have something to add to the paywave system I was just thinking about how my bank puts a limit on the amount one days paywave limit my advice is that you call your bank and ask them what their policies are for limits are for the paywave and IPHONE transactions "per day" and also ask for their after hours number for stolen or lost credit cards because its a long weekend, Easter weekend so the banks will be closed on Monday and cheek out if the town you live in if you are living down in South land of New Zealand could be with in the Southland anniversary area and Tuesday maybe a bank Holiday as well so to simply put it if your bank has a limit of $80 and you went out on the Friday night say McDonald's OK and you're credit card falls on the floor that's Friday Saturday $160 because your credit card say its Visa credit card will an over draft balance of $ 500 Check out the bank Holiday dates for this weekend coming ask for their lost or stolen card after hours phone number and ask if you can block the card on line tell the banks reopen or set up another account so you can transfer funds from you card to it take a private photo of your card both sides print it a put in a safe place for conversational purpose with your bank I hope you understand all of this take care and remember use your common sense trust is hard to gain but destroyed in blink of an eye welcome to New Zealand I'm Alexander take care.

Itr is good listening to your nice comments about New Zealand, however as others have said, there are good and bad places. The South Island is a bit more safe than other parts of the country with the West Coast being the most laid back and one of my favourite places. You say that it has a slow pace of life, which I guess from other parts of the world is true, however I hope you don't mind me saying that you don't need to speak quite so quickly. As a documentary filmmaker, we encourage narrators to talk more slowly so the audience can digest what is being said more easily, without having vocal indigestion. I look forward to watching your forthcoming videos and another suggestion, please try to reduce the jump cuts with dissolves or use a second camera, as they are distracting.

New Zealand is significantly safer than most overseas countries. However youth crime in particular is exploding over the last 3-4 years, as the modern sickness of police departments and justice systems continue to send the message and perception that there are NO consequences for crime. Of course there are some, but the youths are telling each other and reinforcing... and alas hearing from news shows, that there is NO downside to trying to steal.

Sadly, the 2 things that are a downfall for NZ is cost - Cost of living and cost of groceries, we used to be ranked as 7th in the world for best places in the world to live, but after Covid and the rising costs we are at 9th place. In addition to the Safety, is the safety for kids, at primary school level, they get taught about road safety and road rules, to the point where the parents wont need to accompany their kids to and from school, it gives the kids some independence and takes some stress off the parents.

While what you say is to some degree factually correct... uprooting to one of those countries you may deem to be better requires one to have adequate financial support to move there. If it isn't an English speaking country and you don't speak the language, then you are already at a disadvantage. I'm a Native New Zealander in my mid 60's. As a relatively new nation, the country 'HAS' undergone a number of cultural, political and social changes in my lifetime. Personal attitudes are very much more diverse as a result of the currennt 'eclectic' makeup of our nation. However... as a street photographer who has spent time with and engaged with many people visiting here from many many different parts of the world... New Zealand is still a pretty special place to visit and live. I accept that there are negatives, however it may be a more a case of life telling one to up their game and rise above it instead of leaving. Have a lovely day 🤗🤗

Well you can trace that back to the Lange-Douglas Labour government. Prior to them, everyone could have a job if they wanted one, post that government that was no longer possible, and NZ has been steadily sliding downhill ever since. To teeVIS: I am one of those who couldn't raise their game........ just getting by, not making any real progress. So I left NZ to live in China.......best decision I ever made! Haha....she just talked about leaving her bike unlocked. Years ago when I was living in CHCH, I had two bikes stolen when I forgot to lock them.
