Yes, I understood it to be just a compairison to give some idea how big congo is.. ps, most belgium renember leopold 2 as .. ?? most belgium renember leopold 2 just as the king that came after leopold 1 :D his successor, Albert 2 is really reminded, Cause he had to act in both world wars, and was more loyal and less quick to flee as the elected government was !
@@JeroenJA couple of mistakes but Leopold 3 was king of Belgium during ww2 and albert 1 was king of Belgium in ww1. albert 2 did nopt ascend to the throne until 1993and abdicated the throne to Philippe 1 in 2013. lastly i don't know where you have been living but the Congolese massacre is a subject taught to every student in Belgium during history class. sources Leopold 2 (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leopold_II_of_Belgium) Leopold 3 (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leopold_III_of_Belgium) albert 2 (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albert_II_of_Belgium) and phillipe 1 (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philippe_of_Belgium)
haha, the title is thing you probably don't know, and waffles, even most American know that cliche :D , while not knowing we have 2 kinds , Liege and Brussel waffels, And I see Beer, fries and chocolate way before Waffels when it come to what our food has to offer :D
Brugges, Venice of the North. Because, back in the day (15th century), they were both economic power houses and major rivaling cities. Nothing to do with presumably looking alike.
@@robertneven7563 in 2021 over 90 tonnes of cocaine were seized in Antwerp, which is by far the largest amount in all of Europe. Rotterdam is second with over 40 tonnes. But its true that a lot of gangs who are involved with this are located in Amsterdam.

- Nobody in belgium eats eggs with fries. We just eat a lot of fries. - Everybody learns about the horrible history with Congo and Leopold 2 in school. Only people that live in the city's where he build important building probably know it was build by him. There's no discrimination against congolese people. - Belgium is very progresive but there are plenty of problems because of to much immigration.
Ikr its awsome me and my friends when we were like 9 we would go to the boarders and roll play, one of my friends would ask for our visa to pass it also the boards also go thru houses so like you could wake up in one country and shower in another xD
It's not terrible to eat a spiegelei with some fries next to it in summer. Although i can't remember the last time i ate that, probably when i was 8 or sth like that.
1. I have never in my life seen a Belgian eat egg on top of their fries, like what? 2. the reason americans call them french fries is because during the war they ate fries for the first time in the french part of belgium, they thought they were allready in France and mistakingly called them french fries. 3. while it is true that Leopold was the ruler during this period and he was the main reason for the horrors that accured. He never even stepped foot in Congo, all he wanted was the money. t is indeed true that he allowed such horrors to happen, but he also did a lot of good things for the people of Belgium at the time, a lot of Belgians are also against taking down his statues for this reason. He also never instructed the congolese leaders to harm the civilians, he just said "give me the money, I don't care how you get it". The congolese leaders decided that they would get the most money by terrorising the civilians/workers. 4. while it is true that discrimination is still a thing in Belgium, it's actually a lot better than in other countries such as for example: America 5. also nobody in Belgium forgot his horrific deeds I literally learned about it this year. (I'm 16, our history classes a year are chronological) It's just important to realise that he didn't only do horrific deeds and he never instructed anyone to do horrific dees either. He was just a greedy king focused on money and the wellbeing of his own country rather than that of a colony. (I'm not saying he's a good person btw) 6. the divorce thing and the church is not always true, in many cases it's just that people get married to easily and it's not that difficult or looked down upon in Belgium to get a divorce. However it is true that divorces between older generations are mainly due to the influence of the church dropping. My grandparents for example divorced because my grandfather was actually gay (though he did love my grandmother seeing as he had 2 kids with her) so once again, do a little more research before spreading false information.
well i live in Belgium and you told me things i didn't even know about like: Albert Frère he isn't the richest... the people who ARE rich are: Geld Verhuslt, and Coecke
I did graduate studies in Leuven. I'm disappointed you didn't mention the town outside Brussels which is the home of the oldest existent Catholic university in the world whose professors spawned big and highly consequential ideas from the Counter-Reformation and the Second Vatican Council to the Big Bang Theory. It is also the home base of the world's largest brewery company AB InBev whose signature product Stella Artois is brewed in its brewery in the midst of the university town. In Leuven, I experienced best thing about Belgium, reading books while drinking the world's best beer.
#2: This is in Baarle Hertog/Baarle Nassau, check it out. #3: I'm Belgian and never heard of fried eggs with our fries. #6: Pretty much everyone here is aware of these atrocities.. #14: Depends what you consider as "Western Europe" but divorce rate are higher in Denmark, Finland, Spain, Sweden, Estonia, Liechtenstein, than in Belgium as of 2020 statistics - Also in Czech Republic, Latvia, Lithuania, Ukraine and Belarus, but these aren't really "Western".
Western Europe = Belgium, France, The Netherlands, Germany, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Austria. Denmark, Finland, Sweden = Northern Europe. Spain = Southern Europe.
Belgium is also the head of Europe, European Union, NATO, NAVO and some more. Even though no one talks about it, but Belgium could end any country if they used all the force that their groups offer. But they wouldn't end Russia for example, due to them being close friends like America and Canada, because white Russia is in the EU, and Belgium really helped them out
You gotta make 15 things about Bosnia and Herzegovina.. we are a country with 3 presidents, 3 regions, 2 entities.. 2 regions are devided in cantons which both belong to Bosnia and Rep. Srpska. 17 cantons, 10 are Bosnias and 7 serbs..also Brčko district, and it preety much belong to both regions but it does govurn itself, so its our 3rd region. Well its wierd right... even us Bosnians don't understand this correctly..
_In Belgium🇧🇪, you can get money for not working... and even getting a (small)house for free._ *That’s probably the only thing that new inhabitants know when they come and live here*
@@gromit3315 I am half Muslim btw (my mother Belgian, my father Arab/Muslim), but the problem is that I work and pay taxes, I should stop working, go out, then come back and they might give my half a house.
Amghannam, that’s a no go for you. You already have a job and a house and you pay a lot of money for your brothers who are not as honest and hard working as you. Sorry mate.

In Belgium we are obligated to learn about our bad history an Leopold the second, nobody in Belgium thinks of him as a Good king or builder, and also Congolese people don’t get discriminated by the general public an aspecially not because they where Belgium’s Cologny, that woul be messed up...
Vishnu Mate Cuz they played like through frenchmen, dirty and pussylike. Btw just Dont say That on Belgian soil. We Dont have much crime But you can single handedly increase That :P
As I Belgian, I didn't even know that fries with eggs were a popular choice LOL. Most people here just top it with mayonnaise or sweet mayonnaise, I prefer Joppie sauce though (which was invented by the Dutch LOL). :D
Cooooooool! Chips are from belgie! Lol cool!that's awesome because our country doesn't allow same sex couples to adobt kids and I'm heterosexual and i disagree with that. I so want to move to Belgium!
chisa tatum I never expected someone to be so exited about our country... also if u like beer there is one specific beer(best beer in the world) that they only sell in Belgium, it is even so good you can not buy it in stores and you have to buy it in the brewery self. Oh yeah- don’t eat fries with egg, we never put an egg on our fries eww😂
Huh, i'm from Belgium and had no idea about 10 and 11, really didn't knew the boerentoren was so old! 14, I don't agree with... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Divorce_demography neither in crude divorce rate, not in divorce:marriage ratio are we the highest, .. almost same as for example Spain... I did read about more senoirs divorcing, that lived together for decades to divorce after pension age, sometime at the age of 80.. That age group had indeed not really dared to divorce first, and later had good routine not to be to bothered with each other in the cases there was no real big love.. and divorces only come with them seeing each other so much more after pension age :-).
I'm from Belgium and my first language is Dutch. But I've never heard of 'min' meaning 'love'. 'Love' is 'liefde' in Dutch. Min is more like minus, you know in mathematics. But in the context of the lake, 'minnewater' is just the name and while it's true that it's called the lake of love, the name has nothing to do with it. There are uncertainties of where the name came from but none of the theories involve the word love. Try doing a little more research next time, because you're just spreading false information and that's really sad. Just my opinion as a Belgian. The reason it's called the lake of love is because of a story that's linked to it, that goes as follows: "At the time when the Romans had begun the conquest of Gaul, an old sailor had said goodbye to the sea and lived with his only and beautiful daughter Minna in Bruges, which was still a small settlement at the time, surrounded by forests and marshes. Knowing that he did not have very long to live, he looked for a suitable groom for his daughter. His choice fell on Horneck, a young man who occasionally visited. Minna, however, had already set her eye on Stromberg, a young warrior from a neighboring tribe. She kept this from her father, because she knew he didn't hold the neighboring tribe very dear. To avoid disagreements, she kept postponing a final decision. When the Romans invaded the land, the warriors of all tribes went to battle. So did Stromberg, who had obtained the promise of Minna's love and loyalty from before his departure. For some time Minna was able to convince her father that marriage was not yet right for her, but his patience ran thin and he decided that at the third sunrise her marriage to Horneck would be consummated. She was distraught, torn between her promise to Stromberg and her father's will. The night before the third sunrise she fled into the woods, never to return. Some time later Stromberg returned. The Roman danger had passed. Hearing that Minna had disappeared, he began an arduous search. Finally he found her, hidden in the thick undergrowth, on the bank of a wide stream. However, it was to no avail. Minna was exhausted from the long wandering and she died in the arms of her beloved. At first Stromberg wanted to take his own life, but he decided to venerate the place where Minna had died forever. After building a hut, he made a dam in the stream and in the middle of the dry bed made a grave in which he laid Minna to rest forever. Then he let the water run its course again. On the bank where he had found Minna, he placed a heavy boulder on which he, in memory of Minna, engraved the words "MINNA-WATER"
