X-Rays reveal that there were a number of needles broken off in his arms. His OCD was evident early on but went undiagnosed , it is seen in the photo with the H1 after the crash in the beet field. Who knows, if medicine had been given that it would have change the course of history. His right hand man Noah Dietrick would be the one that knew most of what Howard Hughes was like. Both were brilliant businessmen

You're both wrong. Hughes survived four airplane accidents: one in a Thomas-Morse Scout while filming Hell's Angels, one while setting the airspeed record in the Hughes Racer, one at Lake Mead in 1943, and the near fatal crash of the Hughes XF-11 in 1946.

He was actually really handsome when he was young. His story is so sad. I was diagnosed w/ OCD when I was 16. It's 2020 and some people still don't understand what it _really_ means. At times, it's like a form of torture. But at least now we know what it is. I can't imagine what it was like to live w/ it (or any mental issue) back then. It would've been difficult, and probably a kinda scary, for everyone around him.

I didn't know about the sea plane crash.....I met people who knew Hughes. They told me he was hard working, very down to earth and direct, said what was on his mind. .he was very intelligent, even knew more about corporate law than many lawyers....

How could you have left out his role in CIA mission to raise Russian submarine K-129 during the cold war?! He was part of a cover story involving the mining of manganese nodules from the sea floor, using the Glomar Explorer as a "mining" vessel. It was in fact a floating dry-dock with claws designed to reach down and grab a recently sunk Russian submarine from the bottom of the ocean. His role as an entrepreneur and speculator in "funding" natural resource exploration and mining was part of an elaborate cover story for an operation conceived, planned and funded by the CIA... by far his most interesting escapade.

What a shame for Howard Hughes later years. I also wonder if he ever gave to charitable causes. If he did care about the lives of others then maybe he did.I realize that the very wealthy,rich become suspicious of others possibly wanting to take advantage of them and this may have led to him choosing to live his life in seclusion and secrecy. 😐🕊

Hey Charles! Stan Lee released the first Iron Man comic in the late 60s, before Elon was born! Stan Lee was inspired by Howard Hughes. And if you listen carefully in the past we said that, in the Iron Man movies (with RDJr.) Tony Stark was modeled after Elon Musk. Basically they needed a real life 'genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist'. Btw, did you see the flamethrower that Elon put up for sale... it's crazy!

This is just one of the legends we have forgotten about. If we want to do another period piece movie bring this guy up again. I believe I heard about him in the original Rocketeer or maybe an Indiana Jones' movie but I mainly remember him from a slight memory of Spruce Goose in a movie.

They make no mention of how he earned most of his money. Government aviation contracts kept coming through WW2, when he was hauled in front of a senate subcommittee for breach of fed contract because he refused to hand over design details.

It seems part of his eccentricity & seclusion from the outside world in his later years was the various accidents he was involved in his younger days, where he was administered morphine for pain management that was followed by codeine that he requested & administered himself for the rest of his life….
