I believe so, since I've been hearing a lot more people getting the Mazda 6, instead of a Camry or Accord. I live the styling and I got one of the newer ones, instead of my Avalon. Problem was, was that Mazda did not come to mind naturally, like Honda and Toyota did.

Carlos Leon they’re waaaay better than they used to be. They consistently hold a position on lists of top cars. I have a 2017 Mazda 6 touring and it’s amazing for the price. And the reliable is just as good as its competitors from what I’ve heard (compared to what it used to be)

Dave M I work for them. It’s because they do the shittiest job in marketing and getting the word out. Unlike most car brands they lack mass marketing and rebates and incentives. They spend all the money is making a great car and seamless connection with car/driver but no one knows about it until they come to the dealership.

son huynh I totally don't agree. I have worked for them before too. They are doing all kinds of marketing and advertising. What sells cars is not commercials. Its the reliability and test drive. Reliability can take 10-20 years to establish. Test drive comes down to the performance versus the competition. Also, people tend to go with the top dog in America. Toyota is at the top worldwide. So Mazda needs to work on making parts for longer and supporting maintenance better in older cars and it needs the performance in the big 3: power, handling, braking to be at or better than the rest.

Everyone else is currently playing it safe and only incrementally improving current technology. Any company that uses a throwaway cvt trans to save fuel is a sellout (nissan, toyota, honda). Mazda is a pioneer, carves their own path, goes against the grain and continues to reshape automotive innovation. UNDERATED!!!

I think Mazda's future is so bright we'll all have to wear shades. They have developed the SPCCI engine (Skyactiv-X) and have it working well enough to introduce it on the next gen Mazda3. They will own the segment. Next up, Skyactiv-X for the CX-5 and they'll own that segment too.

As long as they don't release it before it's "fully baked". That's why they had to replace so many RX-8 engines the first couple of years (like mine). The 2nd-gen RX-8 engine (which they replaced it with) is a thing of joy and beauty.

I believe you meant Henry Ford II, the grandson of the original Henry Ford. He was the son of Edsel Ford. He was the genius who fired Lee Iacoca, the impetus of the Ford Mustang. HF2, as he was sometimes called, tried to buy Ferrari in the 1960s. When they wouldn't sell, he had Ford Motor Company build the GT40 race car.

I test drove multiple sedans and was on the market for a month before buying my Mazda 6 back in 2015, it had two miles on it and I instantly fell in love, almost 3 years later, I love my car. I can see, feel and appreciate the work put into the vehicle.

SnoBoardnRN It was ok initially due to all the plastic covers under the car (lost a couple of covers) but after 3 years of owning my car its a bit worse especially IF you have no music on. To me that is not a problem because I love the Audio quality so Im always jamming to music, most of the time loud enough not to hear anything outside lol.

I used to sell these beautiful vehicles! Mazda doesn't want their market share over 2-3%. They have one of the BEST resale values in the market! Also, they really don't consider most other Japanese car companies competitors. Mazda considers themselves a more premium brand, similar to BMW, Audi, or Acura.

@@DavidMartinAustralia I don't know about that but i do know that back in 1997 BMW sold 63000 cars in the UK which was the most they had ever sold in one year.The following year they capped new car sales in the UK to the same amount of 63000.The reason they did that was because they didn't want their cars to lose there exclusivity or in other words they didn't want them to become too common.I know this is true as i used to work for them.

On the other hand, the RX-8 is the best-handling car you can put a 6'4" person in the back seat of (I've had a couple in mine, with headroom to spare). While I agree the RX-7 is even better to drive, it's not the best 2-seater at anything.

I've been driving a Mazda 6 Signature since 2016 (new one in 2018). I have every tech gadget the Cadillac CT6 has for $52000 less. Mazda quality, looks, and reliability makes it a fantastic vehicle. However, too many Americans are unfamiliar with the brand. Increased advertising in ALL media is necessary to change this!

We live in New Zealand and we brought a new Mazda cx5 2.2 diesel 2014 model and we love it cant bring my self to trade it in for a new on as this one is a super model 40000 thousand km and good for hundreds of thousands of km more I keep the service periods exactly on schedule.

I settled on the 2018 Neo Sport and it actually feels just as nice as the higher-level trim variants. I'm glad that Mazda don't purposely bastardize the base model with steel rims or cheap seats, it's a real win for the consumer.

"Started from the bottom, now we here":)) I had a 1985 Mazda 323 back in 2004 as my first ever car. It was so rare in Romania at that time. I still regret selling it since I was going abroad again. Many years later after going through different brands, I just bought myself a 2015 Mazda 6 estate Sport Nav in Soul Red and couldnt be happier. CX9 not imported in Europe but I would love one:D

I'll concede the rust problem, but I'm having trouble remembering one Mazda outside the RX models that can be described as unreliable, and even _those_ can be pretty dependable if you at least know how to drive (and maintain) them properly. They're fickle rather than all-around poorly built, cause rotary engines are underdeveloped tech. I don't know where you got the shit reliability idea from, but it's plain not true. Even in the eighties and nineties Mazdas were every bit as trusty as any Toyota or Honda you were likely to find. And that's with them sharing parts with Ford during the latter decade and through most of the 00s.

Mazda makes some of the best looking cars. I recently had to say goodbye to the best car I had ever owned: a nice 1996 Mazda MX-6 LS. It was a hoot to drive and was completely reliable for 9 years!! I loved it. A driver with no headlights on hit me. What a good car it was. 5-star NHTSA RATING. Rip, Owly.

Romy Kim I wondered if anyone would mention Hiroshima. More on that part would have been interesting but probably would have made the video controversial so it was left out with just a reference to their building weapons, which I imagine a lot of families of the Allies thought made for tragic deaths from their point of view although that wasn't stated or implied, and the tragic death of the builders, which was. No.7 is incorrect. Mazda is not name after the god , It's from Mazda's founder "松田重次郎", "松田" in Japanese is pronounce "Ma-Tsu-Da" and transfer to Mazda.It's just coincident that the name is also the ancient religion "Mazdayasna"'s god "Ahura Mazda" , so Mazda's trade mark was fire-like once.

Henry Ford died in 1947. Maybe you meant Henry Ford II? Ford had Rotary prototypes in Mustangs in the 60's and GM had a Wankel License in the 60's Maybe your editors need to do better research?

More likely it was Henry Ford II (“Hank the Deuce”) if it was 1972, as old Henry (his grandfather) had died decades earlier. The only lingering doubt, of course, is HFII’s infamous disdain for “Jap engines” (his word).

When is Mazda going to make their own version of a Dodge Challenger with a power engine? Mazda good at making small sport cars and SUV, maybe sometime in the future make a Japanese muscle car and loosely based it on the Dodge Challenger. Those sales would put in the number three spot in America.

Whoever these ALUX people are, they are lousy researchers. Henry Ford did indeed fly to Japan to discuss the rotary, but NOT the Henry Ford depicted. The person in the pictures is the first Henry Ford. His grandson, Henry Ford II, was CEO of Ford in the 50's through 80's. Also, "marque," a word that combines the meanings of the words "make" and "model," is pronounced "mark," not "mar-kee." A marquis which IS pronounced "mar-kee," is the big sign that hangs in front of a movie theatre. Finally, discussing Mazda cars without even mentioning the RX-7 is just plain ignorant. Who are these ALUX bozos anyway?

MAZDA are you still trying to play catch up games with the other Auto giants? If I am Mazda's CEO I would introduce the world especially in North America market the new mini or subcompact pickup truck with their proven reliable 2 liter and 2.5 liter engines. That should shock the other Japanese giants and north American players with a product for urban DIY instead of those monster size soccer ma & pa groceries getter pickups. Instead of trying to get the rubbish RX8 back to the market for a few RX diehard fans. Get rid the rotary engine and built a Sky Active V6 instead.

I’ve been a long time VW fan, currently drive a ‘12 Golf TDI DSG (should’ve held out for the manual though) and when the time comes for another car, it’ll most likely be a Mazda 3 hatchback, as they seem to also be very driver focused and great handling, it’ll also be a manual. One thing I really appreciate about Mazda, aside from h their driver-focus is that they refuse to use those shitty CVT automatics, yes they use the equally boring planetary automatic, but at least those are reliable, unlike the shitbox CVT CVT needs to die in a fire.

My Mazda 6 sport kombi, 2007. is an endurable mule. After a big service done (changing all belts, all pumps, all oils, filters etc.) on near 200.000 km, and get checked everything, the service man told me: see you again after 100.000 km. Regularly serviced. The major investments till now: small services, brake tiles and discs replaced, rear wiper, tires, navigation maps update!

Miata is always the answer. Learning how to drive? Miata. Commuting for 1 person? Miata. Want to go to the track? Miata. Dating? Miata; no fat girls, car is small and will scrape. Married and have kids? Miata and CX5. Want something more executive? Mazda 6. Want something bigger than a miata but still economical? Mazda 3 hatch.

Back in 2018 my wife and I test drove a new platinum highlander and test drove the Mazda CX-9 grand touring, we bought the cx9 due to better drivability and so much more fun to drive.

Merging with Ford was a bad decision for Mazda, I am glad they got out of it and separated themselves from Ford. Up North, in Canada Mazda products are very popular. Can't wait to Zoom-zoom in my new Mazda-3

I have a Mazda 3 and love how everything is driver centric . It is not just marketing the placement of controls just work . I just wish they were easier to buy . I live close to one but I have 2 Honda dealerships 4 Toyota dealerships and 2 Nissan so it is hard to actually buy the car and they need to release the Mazda 2 here

I believe the quality and stye of the cars should result in a growth in US market share, but it depends to some extent, I think, on expanding their dealership network. They should also upgrade the physical appearance of the dealerships . The current look is a bit "down market" in my opinion. But that last point is based solely on my experience at two dealerships in my area. Great cars, I am planning to get the Mazda 6 Signature. Oh, one last thing, an AWD version of the Mazda 6 could also help.

Mazda is the best because they have what they call Skyactiv technology Which Is a good engine model because it has lots of things including a powered tailgate

The Roadpacer used a body and interior of an Australian Holden car from the mid-70s with a Mazda rotary engine. The vehicle performed poorly as the power of the engine was insufficient for the car’s weight. In Australia, the Holden version was powered by either a 6 cylinder or V8 engine.

Had a 2007 Mazda 6. Had a radiator go bad and in order for it to be replaced you have to disassemble the entire front end. No more Mazdas for me. An easy repair for a Honda or Toyota.
