People get a lot of the fines wrong. I live in Singapore and here are some of the fines you stated wrongly. Spitting is fine in Singapore, however one is not encouraged to do it. If you spit in front of a police officer and he is savage, he can only give you a maximum of $100 fine, although some police officers don't do that. Connecting to someone else's wifi is totally legal. If it was illegal, i would be in prison a long time ago. Not flushing a public toilet is alright. They don't care. Chewing gum is actually legal. They only fine you if you do not throw it away in a bin and stick it somewhere. The only way to get gum is to import it from Malaysia. You can annoy the music instruments all you like as they set it up in the area without permission. Many of the laws are mistaken by Americans. Thanks for reading :)
I'm Singaporean and I think that I'm living in one of the safest country in the world despite it being a fine city. Yes, it's expensive to own a car but public transportations are very convenient and affordable too. Anyway, having strict rules doesn't interfere with our daily lives, instead they make our days better. Have a nice day everyone :)

The date thing is called SDU ( Social Development Unit ) , you will be more aware of it if you're in universities though , they tend to host alot of activities for university students.
you can get from one side of the country to another by taking the train, and it only takes about 1h-1h 30min, if you really want to get somewhere quick, just get a bike, a lot cheaper and way faster, only take 30-45min.

One of them being the flushing of toilets. Laws such as the ban of sale of chewing gum may sound absurd but it has actually improved the cleanliness of Singapore. Back then in the 1990s, Singapore had a massive chewing gum problem which involved people spitting the chewing gum everywhere in public spaces which made theses places look extremely filthy. Believe it or not, some of these laws actually make a country better

In singapore, an average salary is about I guess $6000 dollars. Plus, barely anyone gets fine for jay walking. Singapore is strict but have you seen the crime rates, they are low and don't believe this video. Bunch of Bullshit. If you litter, no one is gonna come and arrest you. The government is making our country better. Living in such a country, salaries are higher due to the fact land is scarce and a decent sized HDB (public housing) cost about 500k. I am a frequent visitor to Singapore and anyone hating on this beautiful country because of its rules and regulations should go there and see how they work. It's a clean , safe and welcoming place and if you aren't a spitting,swearing , WiFi stealing litter bug ,you will love it. The gay marriage thing is a bit sad but doesn't effect me so!

Singapore has a very close to excellent system that educate its ppl subconsciously to be well behave and self discipline as a person....the rate of Singaporean misbehaving in other part of the world is very low close to none..well there is still Singaporean who misbehave occasionally out of singapore but still the ratio is very slim. Why?..thanks to the system in singapore that subconsciously educate and program every single Singaporean who born and raise in the country to behave them self in almost every single way since young...like example the number of FINE and regulations that sometime we tot ridiculous. I'm a Singaporean but I didn't know SG was that rich. If you want to see like supercars, go to the city areas. Lamborghini, Porsche, Ferrari, Aston Martin are all there. Rarest to spot is the Martin. Alot of Panamera's in Orchard Rd.
you can chew gum in public. but not allowed to sell. you can buy chewing gum from malaysia and bring into singapore but the cover has to be open so that to insure that is not for salw
Tiger ezpi you are so wrong. I went to Malaysia, Kukup and bought some gums(less than 10. My daughter chose those with colourful cute cartoon wrappers) thinking it is in small quantity and my daughter could show to her friends in school. We showed these at the immigration to declare and explained it is to use as show and tell project. The next thing I know they grab those gums, shove my daughter, age 12 and me to the interrogation office. They let us go only after explaining the intention of buying those gums is for school project. They confiscate the gums and write down my name and ic no. and told me they will be monitoring me. And if ever I am caught again, they gave warning I will not be spared. I asked the officer before I left if it is for own consumptions is it allowed? She gave a stern look and said the law states chewing gums are banned in Singapore. It is an offense for sellers as well as consumers. So people please read those law again.

I live in Singapore... no one really cares unless it's an officer or uptight security guard. I'm 11 and I always eat gum... plus some of the laws instilled like the gum I cuz of ppl putting gum on the door of the MRT ( like if you know what that means ) and the door would not open
hmm well I knew most of these but I have lived in Singapore and has always loved it there but I must say that the fines is true but the police is quite ok and not as strict as that. as long as you are a nice person and apologise they will let you go and all is ok. but I still loved this Bec it pointed things out I always felt and you pointed it out as facts so thank you :) good video thank you

Ng Zi Herng I knew these laws but some Singaporeans frens said to me: effectively it isn't enforced and they are usual laws it's why when you are in Sg you don't notice these laws
To my understand as a singaporean. The law and order in the country to my understanding is unmatched. There is the reason why the summit could be happening in SIngapore. I could be wrong but could n't be more proud.
Those taxes are not strictly enforced in the city. I love how you are like any other typical news station, missing out information to make it sound more ridiculous.
The toilet flushing law doesn't really get enforced. There are no police officers or health officials standing in the toilets at all, and I'm pretty sure the fine for connecting to someone else's wifi only applies when doing so without consent. So no the rules aren't really that over the top as some make it out to be.
the laws on minor offences in Singapore like spitting, jay walking, littering etc, are actually not as strict as what foreigners thinks. Most people will just get a warning if caught
Tbh lots of people find that Sgreans are rude when they speak but we speak Singlish so it may sound mean sometimes but in acturl fact Sgreans understands it's like treating someone informally when you're comfortable around them.

The keywords here are "being exposed to public view". If you're naked in your own home but you're not exposed to public view, it's totally fine.

Obviously when you are having sex, the police won't be spying on you whether the positions are right or you need to go in deeper. Nahh..just walk around naked. well, I guess you can say that. However, Singapore has way too many restrictions on rights to speak etc. Personally for me, as a citizen, I find that the government has too much power. But hey, that's just my in my opinion. Heck I may even have to go to court for commenting that! :)
