I had 7 children my youngest is now 17 I get my mommy makeover in two weeks!!! Tummy tuck here I come I’m so excited for this!! Plus I’m getting some thigh lipo and a breast lift and augmentation.
He’s telling the truth about pulling the drains out without you even knowing. I didn’t even realize it bc my doctor was talking to me and I didn’t see him or feel it. I was so thankful!
I am so excited your videos popped into my feed yesterday. I’ve looked at before and after photos of many Mommy-Make overs and the high up long scars scared me plus the slit for a fake belly. button. I’m 47 and have had 5 children. I’m done having babies and want my body back! Thank you for this vital info that has given me so much peace and I will be seeing you in the near future!
I think when a drain is not used patients are more prone to getting seromas but I have noticed a lot of these new doctors are not using drains. Also I think flanks should be added with a tummy tuck because patients are still having love handles after the tt.
Dr. Barrett I’m so happy with my tummy tuck❣️Dr Barrett is the best and very honest. I love my results beautiful if I had do it again I’ll do it. What I love about Dr Barrett he does miracles amazing doctor great staff❣️💯🙌
I checked one doctor in boise while living there ! His vibe was rude ! Paid 100 dollars for a consultation , went back home cried for 2 days ! Last year Was my first consultation ever !
I really like to watch your videos it is a lot of good information. Just by watching your videos I don't have to meet you in person to know that you are one of a good one. One of a kind :).
Hi doc, is blood clots usually happens during surgery or after? And how do you prevent it during surgery? And what causes heart attack during tt surgery? Thanks doc
Oh how I wish you were here in Scotland!!!! I’ve lost 63lbs and want to loose at least another 20 lbs…but as you said in one of your other videos, it’s not comfortable to exercise now, I’ll carry on and do my best to get more off. Trying to find a reliable plastic surgeon is difficult. Even although I’ve worked for the NHS for 40 years….I started when I was 17 😂🤣🤪….it’s not really something that comes up in conversation……thanks for all of your information, I’ve found it to be very helpful. Take care….Covid-19 is still out there……Jane…..
Yes about that fleur de lis scar!! I’ve been watching that new Netflix show “skin decision” and the plastic surgeon was giving out fleur de lis tummy tucks left and right!!! To people who didn’t even look like they needed it!
This makes me reconsider getting a tummy tuck. I went for a consult and he said I’d need a hip to hip incision and invest in a walker cause if I am straight up right or sneeze I’d pop the stitches internally. Same with another video I watched of yours about breast lifts I asked him what options are available and he said I needed a inverted anchor. My breast aren’t that low but he said that’s the only option he’d provide and I don’t like the results with those plus he wanted to do 550 cc in silicone and I was looking just to make my breast fuller, like when I was breast feeding. I like that you seem more accommodating and informative than most plastic surgeons. You seem to really care not only about results but pleasing your patients.
Finding the right Dr. is extremely challenging especially with the number of online platforms and resources available. There a lot of great Dr's available. Definitely check to make sure your choice specializes in the procedure you want and spend the time to read through patient testimonials. You can always pick up the phone and call around also, find an office you feel comfortable with and set up a few consultations.
it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.
Another issue the a TT will help with is to repair ab muscles to work better. Duh right. No guys, for years I wondered why my back, specifically my lower back was hurting so much. I blamed giving birth and day in with kids all day. No! when ever I did work around the house and kids I couldn’t use my ab muscles bc they had been severely separated. So I ended up using the only muscle I had left...my back muscle, specifically lower back. They say strengthen your core, well mine was messed up. I tried to use my legs to do work daily but my legs needed my core’s help. So I ended up using my back muscles instead. 😭
I experience this as well I realize my right flank muscles are doing all the work now for years. I’m totally out of balance and have back pain. I dance so I really notice the right side dominance.
Do you recommend having a tummy tuck revision due to a wound breakdown scar tissue hardening around the tummy tuck scar , have a bbl and a breast surgery all together
I'm scheduled in 3 weeks sooo scared bc i had a DVT 3 years ago and i'm on blood thinner, I have a factor v leiden and may-thurner syndrome. My dr said it's OK to have it done but I'm still not sure if it's a good idea!
I'm not sure if this was asked. And almost feel like this could be a silly question.... using topical products such as "sweet sweat" and other stretch mark creams, should I stop the use of these products if I plan on getting a tummy tuck? Could these affect the integrity texture and/or elasticity of the skin? and can this affect the final results of a tummy tuck/liposuction? Thank you for your time!
Hi Dr Barrett thank you for this video. I had a tummy tuck about 2.5 years ago and the Dr didn’t tighten my muscles properly so I was considering a second tummy tuck. Is it safe to have a second tummy tuck? What about the cut will it be across or straight vertical line down the abdomen?
great information. I am healing 3 1/2 weeks after tummy tuck. Due to a hernia and the stem of the belly button was destroyed . My surgeon make a new belly button which is very slow to heal. I am putting saline on gauze 3-4 times a day and have been on antibiotics. Any suggestions for this slow heal?
I would like to know what to do about hard scar tissue under the incision scar. I had my abdominoplasty one year ago. The scar is not too bad. It’s low. But I have some areas of hard tissue under the scar. I had five sessions of lymphatic massage over three months beginning three months after the surgery. I also have been rubbing cocoa butter in the area and using a hand massager along the scar but not every day. It may be improving some recently. My question: will the hard scar tissue resolve completely at some point?
Thank you doctor ! I live in arizona , was thinking about turkey cuz its cheaper then the states but now i am listening to you ! And kindda scared to go over seas right now 😉 even my husband was worrying abt me traveling there , i want to have a breast aug and lift , full tummy tuck ! your advices are great ! Am considering your clinic right now .
Dr Barrett thank you so much for your important information! This is very important for most of us women’s! I have a tummy tucked done year’s ago it was okay but up to this day i am not satisfied! You mention about belly button is burned like deformed! Can it be corrected??
Hi Dr Barrett. I’m starting my research for my future tummy tuck. At this stage I’m just gathering info on what to look for and what to avoid etc. I’m from Australia, I’ve decided to have my surgery in Aus. I did think about the overseas option but weighing up everything, it makes sense to keep it local. I do have a question about loosened skin around the back, back of hips etc. I’m looking for a surgeon performing lipo and full tummy tuck at the same time. Will they be able to remove the fat and excess skin around that area of the hip and back?
I understand your concern. It is best however that you consult with a board certified plastic surgeon to determine whether you can have several aesthetic surgeries in one session, as this would depend on various factors including but not limited to your general health condition, the type of anesthesia that will be used, and the type of surgeries that will be performed among others.
Have you worked on patients with asthma? If so how were you able to? I find that the anesthesia cause calapsed lungs. I'm asking because I want a tummy tuck. I have asthma. it doesn't feel severe to me. Haven't used an inhaler regularly in 15 years. because I haven't need to
as long as your asthma is well controlled and you get a clearance from your doctor, you might be a candidate for a surgery. Feel free to contact us at www.drdanielbarrett.com/virtual-consultation/
Hello i wanna know if you were to do my surgery i have spina bifida and i have alot of skin hanging and it is hurting my back so bad and pulling on my scar on my back I had lost 80lbs and then I had a baby and then I lost weight from being pregnant i hate the way I look but I wanna know if this would be covered by my insurance because it is for health reasons
most of them stay close in early postoperative period. You can get more infor on podcast on my website www.drdanielbarrett.com/the-natural-plastic-surgeon/
Hi can I ask a question please. I had a muscle repair and 360 body lift a year ago. I still have pain where the muscles where repaired. In centre above belly button. I’ve had mri and it showed nothing. What is the cause ?
every plastic surgeon has his own postoperative protocol which he recommends to his patients. If you had a surgery, I would suggest you to discuss this with your plastic surgeon.
I've lost over 200 lbs throught diet and exercise and really would love a tummy Tuck and skin and fat removal from my inner thighs....do you have people from out of state come to you for their procedure? I'm in PA. I worry because a bleeder... when I delivered my twins babies 8 and 9 I lost 2.5liters of blood. Am I more likely to have significant blood loss with these surgeries?
Hi Dr. Barrett- I’m a 19 y/o female who has lost 30 lbs and I’m looking to lose around 30 more. I’m 5’0” and have ALWAYS had a larger lower belly and am interested in a tummy tuck eventually as my belly is my biggest insecurity and always has been. Is it ok to get a tummy tuck at my age?
generally speaking, you want to reach your goal weight before you consider a tummy tuck, otherwise your results will be suboptimal if you continue to lose weight after the surgery.
Hello, do you by chance recommend other doctors for people who live so far away? I’d there someone you could recommend (that you have confidence in) in or close to southern Illinois? St. Louis, MO ?

Make sure he/she is a board-certified plastic surgeon. Definitely check to make sure your choice specializes in the procedure you want and spend the time to read through patient testimonials. There is a number of different sites where you can check for reviews (Realself, yelp, google, etc.). generally speaking it would be better to be close to your surgeon at least in the early postoperative period. I have follow-up examinations in the first week and at the end of the second week. Also, we have a lot of patients from other states and most of them stay 1-2 weeks.
Hi. Im in Florida and i have been to 2 doctors and they both told me different things so now i am confused on what i should do.They both said i am definitely a candidate for a full tummy tuck. they looked at my stomach and one said i have a small hernia nothing I should worry about though....The other doctor didn’t say that. One said i need muscle tightening and the other one didn’t but if wile in surgery he sees that i need it he will than do the muscle tightening. Should i continue seeing doctors? I have had one child 20 yrs ago im 5.0 feet 120 pounds
it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations. Make sure that you feel comfortable and get all the answers you need to make a decision
Barrett Plastic Surgery let’s say i go with the one that will not do the muscle tightening even if i need it . Will that be a problem with my tummy afterwards? Will my tummy still be flat even without the tightening?
in most cases, you will need to get a clearance from your cardiologist prior to surgery. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.
Dr. Barrett, I had a hysterectomy 3 years ago to remove a very large tumor. My OBGYN did a nice bikini incision and proceeded to separate my skin from my fascia to make additional cuts to remove my fallopian tubes. When I was in recovery, he mentioned that he repaired by diastasis recti. Three years later, I still have a lot of sensitivity (he said I was a bleeder and he had to cauterize quite a bit). Is the sensitivity normal? I did not have drainage tubes. And what would be the process to see what's going on in there and insure that everything is okay or better than okay? I get that he is not a plastic surgeon, but I figured he had done this before and had been successful since he felt comfortable doing this procedure. I'm sure he didn't do plycation. I was not overweight and didn't have any extra skin, before or after. I have always been underweight and gain 50-60 pounds during pregnancy. Went back to being thin, no more than 115lbs. Now in my forties, I am at 150lbs due to no exercise because of fear of what might be going on under my skin and stress from finding more tumors in other parts of my body. Thanks!
it is really hard to tell without knowing what exactly was done and without an examination. It would be best to contact your ob/gyn who did the surgery and get an examination. Other options might be US or MRI in order to visualize the abdominal muscles
@chrissynelson4065 Thanks. It was wonderful. This video helped me so much. $500 worth every penny of that exparel. I can't even say how long it lasted for ME cause I didn't feel no pain after until they took the drains out 2 weeks later, Now that hurt a lot when they pulled those suckers out. I had 2 pulled one week later and the other pair 2 weeks after. uff, lol. THAT was the worst part for me honestly. I recommend Exparel to anyone that will get a TT.
I had gastric bypass surgery in 2011 I’m thinking of getting tummy tuck or lipo/ breast implants but idk if insurance will pay for it cuz my it’s not much skin no rubbing against each other?
insurance companies don't cover the cost of tummy tuck, liposuction, breast augmentation. These procedures are considered elective cosmetic procedures.
Thank you for this amazing video! Any advice on pre/post op nutrition? How much protein should someone have in the weeks coming up and immediately after surgery. I’ve heard this is important and I’ve also heard it makes no difference. Not sure what to believe 🤷🏻♀️
I understand your concern. It is best that you consult your plastic surgeon regarding post operative care and management (i.e including massage techniques and timing) specific to your case. Your surgeon knows your condition well and has preferences on when and what to use for faster healing and recovery. Post operative care and management depends on the type of surgery performed and the technique used during surgery among other factors. Generally speaking, protein intake is very important after surgery to improve wound healing.
I don't recommend traveling for plastic surgery. I've seen too many horror stories of people coming back with botched jobs and unable to follow up. What you need to understand is that its not just the surgery, but the follow up is part of the package and you want someone you can follow up with on a regular basis. You only get one body and many times once something is done wrong it can't be fixed.
@@babegurl3152 no, I found a surgeon in Washington state that I *almost* went with, until I found out he's only board certified by the ABCS. So it can trick people into thinking they are "board certified" but my research tells me they are very different.
Is it normal to be hard under the skin along (above) the incision and up to the bellybutton? I was drainless when I went home. I am 17 dpo and just very uncomfortable and the hardness is very sore in the area below my belly button near the incision. It is rock hard.
I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment it would be difficult to determine what is wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment. Only after thorough examination you can get proper recommendations and advice.
every plastic surgeon has his own postoperative protocol which he recommends to his patients. Aspirin can cause increased bleeding during surgery. I would suggest you to discuss this with your plastic surgeon.
@@barrettplasticsurgery My friend told me her plastic surgeon wants her to take 1 table of 325 mg of aspirin and arnica the night before tummy tuck surgery. I just wanna asked you to make sure is safe

I only had 1 child and pretty much I starved my self , and yes my sad belly button look I am so happy to go with a tummy T!💥💕 What’s sad is that specially fam considered it that tummy tucks are for lazy people, I had and will keep it a secret from family😂😅 Thank you for this video!!💕🙏🏼
Dr Barrett, I really want a tummy tuck. I have had three children and my belly button is saggy and I have some stretch marks around it my concern is that I don't have a lot of excess skin. I am a size 4 as i run a lot but I have a separation of muscles all the way to my ribs about 4cm can you fi x the muscles if i do not have enough skin for a full tummy tuck? How can i tell if I have enough skin? I dont have any fat on my tummy either i have an incision from a c-section so ideally would like the tummy tuck to go along the same scar if I am a candidate is this possible?
it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. Based on your description, it sounds like you might be a good candidate for a tummy tuck. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.
If someone is asking if liposuction will benefit vs a tummy tuck is because they don't have your knowledge Dr. Barrett. You being frustrated when patients ask is kind of unfair and discouraging.
Dr. Barrett do you work on patients with diabetes mellitus type II? I am strongly considering having a tummy tuck with liposuction within the next 6 months.
diabetes mellitus is a common disease. As long you your DM is under control, you might be a candidate for a surgery. Feel free to contact us at www.drdanielbarrett.com/virtual-consultation/ if you have more questions
