Was on a conventional bombing range in NM on a routine training sortie in an F-111F when the control tower asked for a “fly by” to impress the USAFA cadets that were watching the action on a tour. I flew 300’ at 420Kts for a safe pass and was ready to head home when the tower chief called the pass “weak” and asked for a re-attack. My next pass was 80’ and 540kts shaking the tower like a leaf. “Don’t do that again!” Was chief’s next radio call 😂.

Sounds like the "buzzing the tower" episode where SR-71 pilot Maury Rosenberg made a fly-by with full afterburner down the ramp at Sacramento airport. Which caused nearly everyone in the tower to dive under the table.

Aerosucre always had a problem with climbing. It's because they put too much weight in the aircraft, forcing it to climb skywards very slowly. By the way, all us Four Brothers were at the viewing platform when we saw the QANTAS Boeing 737 plane landing at Perth Airport. It's something we'd never thought we'd see, but it's lucky that they didn't crash. Besides, QANTAS didn't have any plane crashes since 1951, so it's a very lucky landing. Congratulations on making this video. We always watch The Weekly Dose of Aviation, and it's good. Well done.

I have never seen my dad afraid, only once. We were flying from NYC to Keflavik on Iceland and the turbulence was very bad, without seatbelts you would have flown out if your seat and there was stuff flying around the cabin. It took three attempts before we landed, and it was chilling in the first approach to see emergency vehicles prepared along the runway. I have never landed as rough. I've never experienced applause on an airplane as loud as that.

I have no idea if they can be deployed at any moment as the forces exerted during overspeed are (of course) much bigger than in normal use. Though I expect them to be able to take quite a bit of extra torque on the actuators, I expect such an event to result in critical failure of a few parts (I do hope that critical failure of a few parts is preferred over losing a complete aircraft though)

8:24 Arrestor cable on the runway? Naval Air Station?
@Brandon_SoMD
@Brandon_SoMD 2 месяца назад
Actually, any American military airfield has emergency arresting gear. Normal Navy arresting gear (as found on an aircraft carrier) doesn't have those really wide straps connected to the cable. Those are specific to the emergency systems. With the long straps, they can reel out a LOT further than Navy gear, because the Air Force arresting hooks are not built for the sudden stops of a Navy carrier airplane which has to stop in a few hundred feet to avoid running off the front of the ship. Longer reels allow gentler forces on the airplane. Navy bases ALSO have these longer, gentler emergency systems, but a few test bases (like Naval Air Station Patuxent River) have land-based versions of the harsher, carrier-style systems. This video is about the Air Force system: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CzNa1_0MtHo.html
