Hope you succeeded in building your dream! I built my first at my moms when I was 15. Pond and fish were still doing great when my mom sold her house 23 years later. Now at 41 I’m just about done with my second dream pond at my own house.

I build ponds and play video games so not sure what you mean't by that Greg! I'd argue that the video games I've played, have helped with the creative side of pond building, so I wouldn't use video games as a negative things kids do instead of working with their hands. This is coming from a man that's grown up playing video games and being a hobbyist of fish keeping, tank stocking, and pond building.

Obviously, I'm not Greg and I can't speak for him, but I don't think he really means it the way it sounds. There is a lot to be said for balance in your hobbies, as well. Playing video games is not problematic in and of itself, but when that's all you're doing and you're not pursuing learning, growth, and creative development, it could lead to stagnation and missing out on a lot of potential. The same can be said of couch potatoes sitting on the sofa watching tv 24/7. (this is coming from someone who plays video games, reads, writes stories, draws, paints, spends days wandering about in nature, keeps fish in tanks, maintains gardens, etc.)

That is an amazing pond for sure. He's definitely got a good future with a hobby like this. This is a perfect example of good parenting, he's got the support to do something he loves and an amazing example of positive role models here with Brian and Greg.

this video is by far my most favourite! the kid is awesome! he's got lots of talent and working with aquascape would put it all in the right direction. I can see his as the next greg (turning his hobby to a profession). Man Ed is full of knowledge man! I could listen to him all day. Every time he starts talking, its just knowledge and experience pouring out. Sometimes I feel like breaking his head open and eating his brains (not offensively and neither am I a zombie. I just want to take in all that knowledge and wisdom and whatever he has up there for myself!). Hey, Ed if you read this, Its out of love buddy.

my mom and dad thought the same about my pond too in our new house, they thought it would be aweful but they thought wrong, I did it only using with what the previous owner left behind. My parents would not let me dig a tunnel to put the power cord for the filter into the garage though. lol look at my channel to see my pond please. (the only thing not from the new house that I added were the fish and the filter)

I have a question. How do I disinfect pond plants

3% hydrogen peroxide, the stuff you can buy at any grocery or drug store that is commonly used as first aide disinfectant/antiseptic. Get the bottle that has the trigger sprayer, makes it easy to use. Just rinse your plants off with a garden hose (or in the sink) to clear out any large pieces of dirt and debris, then thoroughly spray it with the hydrogen peroxide. That's all it takes. You can drop the plant into your pond right away. The beauty of hydrogen peroxide is it simply breaks down into water and oxygen, doesn't contain any nasty chemicals.
