The roots look gorgeous on you in my opinion, actually! You look amazing, fantastic, beautiful, and I absolutely adore all you put out. I'm a Romantic with rose gold hair hehe, I went for such a soft colour because I think it suits a romantic. I've learnt so much through you 🥺 it is the time to glow up to be best me after my ex left me.
I really think you could be a nuclear physicist or something. You're so precise, systematic and brainy with excellent presentation/ communication skills ♡
Wow what a detailed video. Finally someone explains exactly step by step and especially with the respective effects. Work at the highest level. Thanks a lot for this.
From Amazon, order a “3 way mirror for self hair cutting”. It fits over the door - some are lighted….can travel with you. Save yourself the hassle of what you’re now doing 😂🤣
Wow, this process takes soooo much patience and attention to detail. You're such a pro!! I love the way you explain things. So thorough. Every time I watch one of your videos I learn something new. Super interesting video. 👍
I'm also Russian and have the same hair texture, it's really fine and it's bleached platinum, like yours. I love it. But I go to a professional. so scared to do it myself. You are the bawse!
I’ve been platinum for a little over a year now and I like it waaay more than I thought I would - it became a personality trait. People keep telling me I’ll lose all of my hair if I keep doing it so you gave me some hope !!!!
Fyi, I bleached my hair lightly, only 3 minutes of bleaching, every 6 weeks for 20 years, then one time half my hair immediately fell out, permanently, on top of my head. It was gone when I got out of the shower. I didn't have any scalp reaction, so I was puzzled how this could happen. Just last week, though, I found out that bleaching can trigger female pattern baldness. That described exactly what happened to me.
I dye my waist-length hair about 10 years. I had worse and better hair during this time but a hairdresser will never do them better than me so I 100% understand what you are doing. I also come from Eastern Europe and I notice similar things. when I started dyeing nobody in my country talked about toners. it wasn't a thing back then😂 I have always been amazed how it is possible that with 2 tubes of colors I can make a better color than a hairdresser who has a dozen at his disposal. I do the same with developer( one strong and one weak) I don't use a bleach but a cream lightening dye. Thanks for your videos 🌞😁
I agree! I naturally have level 2 hair and no hair dresser would attempt to go lighter than a level 7 on me because they were scared or they had no idea which technique which best. I have a lot of hair, so usually, they would have 2 people working on my hair at once so that it doesn’t over-process in certain areas. A lot of hairdressers like to give us a hard time when they hear people like to do their hair themselves, but they are used to working on people with fine hair or people with medium brown or lighter hair, so they have no room to talk. Smh
@@ruthie_rosario I hate hair lightened to 7 level. it only looks great after leaving the hairdresser and washing it a few times later. Then hair get copper-gold very quickly and waiting for the next visit for 3 months looking like a goldfish is a no no. I am go lighter or go home person😁
Last time I went to hairdresser when I was 4. Now I am 20+ and I cut, bleach and dye my hair myself and everyone is amazed how good it looks. I also cut hair on my mother and hair and beard of my husband. We save money and look good that way, cha ching.
I dont understand how you dont hv many subscribers you are so intelligent and explain things so simply. Ive learned so much from you,no matter the topic.
I love the factual detail that you give Ally. So thorough and well researched and referenced. You’re my absolute favourite you tube Beauty content producer. It probably helps that I am a Natural Blonde also (Medium Golden Blonde - about Level 8j ) from my Irish Dad. I also have a similar skin tone to you. Like the Deepest Neutral Ivory. Any foundation marked “Cool” makes me look grey, and any “warm” makes me look orange of yellow. It MUST be a Neutral undertone This helps enormously as I can relate to, and apply on myself so many of your hair & make up tutorials. Your my go to Girl ❤️👊🏼🙏🏼x
Your eye for detail makes you so good at coloring your own hair, I'm the same and why I love your channel so much. Also, your regrowth (roots) are very light! It doesn't look that bad when it's grown out a little, so lucky that you don't have to lift your hair too much. I just covered my grey hair today with an 8nn. I saw on youtube than the nn is good for covering grey. I used a 7nn last time and it came out a little too dark. I had to help my Dad with something and I ended up leaving the hair dye on too long and I think that's why it was a little brassy, it lifted my natural color as I am not fully grey. The things we women do for beauty 😂.
The blonde me range is amazing it's so important for people to realise they need to protect their hair while bleaching the real cheap stuff fries the hair. Great video u are beautiful!!!!!!
You are so thorough and give some amazing tips. I have noticed for ME that doing a shadow root after my bleach out (level 2) allows me to go about three months without noticeable roots. My hair has been so much healthier doing this since I do not have to bleach every month. The balayage does mess up re-bleaching the roots, though, since the line of demarcation becomes blurred and not so obvious. Just have to be extra careful. Thank you Aly!
Since doing hair as a professional I CANNOT bring myself to use Sally’s color. But I’d say as long as you’re using a demi permanent and not Wella t-18 which has ammonia and will lift and cause hot roots as well as hella damage, you’d be fine
Your hair looks absolutely stunning- just gorgeous. I’ve been bleaching/toning my hair myself for a few years now too, because the salons could never get rid of the yellow. I use the same exact Schwartzkopf developer and powder for bleaching, and I get fabulous results. Schwartzkopf’s toner in “Ice” is fantastic, and if I can’t find it, I go with the trusty Wells Color-Charm in T-18.
I’m so curious about how Gwen Stefani’s hairdresser lightens her hair without bleach, but he will not tell exactly what he does. Please, Aly, if you find out how share it with us 🙏❤️
He uses a high-lift level 12. It’s just as damaging as bleach because you have to use a 40 sometimes 30 volume developer but with Olaplex her hair is great!-pro
I am dark brown, roots are black actually before lightening to more of a brown with sun exposure. I dyed my hair with a high lift blonde. It lightens it to a maybe 7 blonde with a lot of gold in it, just a shade or two less than orange.
I lighten my hair with just 20 developer and a wella toner. I was born blonde though so maybe you can’t do this if your naturally darker than “dirty blond”.
Such a great tutorial your hair is beautiful. I would love to do this myself. My hair currently is colored with highlights and pretty healthy and shiny for the most part. If you could do a tutorial of how to start from scratch that would so appreciated! ☺️
Your so right bleach hair definitely does not work well for everyone. Looks perfect on you tho. You are lucky! Doing my own highlights is very difficult☹️
I am Russian too & i also have a natural very light blonde hair but i really love the dark gothic look & i am often coloring it raven black & it looks so beautiful.
Aly could you talk a little bit more about who would look good with bleached hair? Because there are so many exceptions in relation to kibbe body types rules, and I always wanted to bleach my hair but I'm not quite sure, hair is a very confusing subject. If you could make a video about this exceptions it would be really helpful!
My skin is pale, but my hair is dark. I used to think there's no way i look great with blond hair. But as i dyed my hair pink, yellow and other bright colours, i had to bleach it totally. One day my dye was washed off completely by the salty water from the sea, and i saw a nice baby blond, surprisingly it suits me fine! I wanted to leave it as it is, but as i planned to make a hidden rainbow, i decided to tone my blond. It's in order to make it more resistant for getting dirty with all the rainbow colours 😅
@Sylvie wrong. I'm naturally brown, and I've been blonding my hair for years. People usually think I'm a natural blonde who maybe lightened a bit, my skin is fair, eyes blue. If I've ever dyed it brown again, most people say it doesnt suit me, and I should stay lighter. So for some people like me, it almost looks like we should have been blonde all along
Yeah it's definitely tricky, and a lot about contrast. My hair and brows are the reason I have dynamic contrast, so to maintain my color palette, I can bleach to a platinum blonde or remain natural, a cool toned (almost black) dark brown. Other colors would look good, too, as long as I kept a rosy or peachy but not golden undertone, but I'd either have to keep my roots dark and keep some depth throughout my hair or change my color palette to suit the hair color. It's easier to just stay natural for me lol
@@SuShiiAeLin yes, but it doesn't talk about exceptions in kibbe body types Rules. For example, for romantics is not recommended to go for a dramatic change but Marilyn Monroe looked amazing in her iconic platinum blonde and she's romantic
I got this 3 way mirror called self cut system. It was exactly what I needed as a professional hair dresser to do my hair unfortunately the mirror quality is sort of weird so it makes it kind of hard but it still allowed me to do the back of my hair without winging it. I love shwartzkopft I almost always use 7vol with Olaplex The power of bleach is in the powder ALWAYS not the developer as much and Shwartzkopft is the strongest on the market. Make sure you’re using Olaplex or Brazilian bond builder
It's a lot of work. I don't do my own hair anymore. I finally found someone who will bleach my hair with 30 volume and it still takes about 90+ minutes.
It all sounds too complicated for me. You are so clever and certainly know the products, their effects..etc. I would make a terrible mess. I would not even dare trying…🥰❤️
Welcome to America! OMGosh! This is such a helpful video, thank you! Sally's stock is all about where you live. The more populated urban areas tend to have more variety. Thank you for teaching about the roots. Very helpful. I did not think of using variations of developer in bleach before, it makes total sense. (Thinking about the cream bleach, it makes sense as it seems it would not dry so fast... maybe we need a hair blender, like a juice blender...) I think you just helped me save my hair! :) Welcome again, and Best of Love to You!
Aly, So I have o genuine questions. Since you have been coloring/bleaching your hair for 15 years... 1) What is your natural hair color? Clearly you speak English, your second language, perfectly and with only a very SLIGHT accent. 2) Since you obviously are from Russia, but only lived here for a year, where did you learn to speak English? And for how long?
As a pro I tone my hair with Goldwell colorance 10V,10P, and a little 10BS. BEST ICY WHITE BLONDE! Occasionally I use redken shades EQ 10T, 10VG, a little clear, and a few drops of 10VV equal parts processing solution gives very similar color and zero damage
I love your haircolor! I`m using "Directions" to fight against the yellow.😁👊 But I will try your Routine, because your hair looks so healthy, and it`s stays longer.
I love bleached blonde hair. I have naturally medium brown hair and I dye it darkest brown. However I would love to go platinum. How will I know if blonde will go with my skin tone? I don't want to look washed out.
If your photo has your hair colormine is that color too..a warm golden blonde. When I was in my 20s and wanted platinum blonde like Aly I had to double process my hair because there was so much red in it. It changes the texrure rounghens up the cuticle covering and damages the hair. Then I had to use various products to try to smooth the cuticle down. Styles werre set into the hair back them so I use hot rollers...this further damaged thenhair so that I could not grow my hair any longer than shoulder top.It is very hard to get the red out of hair and if you have alot of red even if light like yours and mine it is quite an ordesl to get it platinum whitr. I am hoping my hair turns white with age as I do find that a striking color.
I used to use wella, it's just so harsh it was constantly destroying my hair and the developer was really irritating my scalp. I switched to all ion products and it's been working super well. I like the ion cream bleach more than the blondeme, and ion has a demi level 7 chrome color that works like a violet booster that you can mix with the other demi colors. My natural hair color and texture is extremely similar to yours and I bleach my roots to about a level 8 and ends to 9.
I have naturally very light ash blonde hair I used to bleached it to make it more white. But I am gonna stop and let the hairsalon make it copper again because that is when I feel most confident it actually suits my skin more. The really light blonde or the bleached blonde makes it overall look very pale there is no contrast nothing pops out. It is very boring. But you have sunkissed skin colour so you can have it. I personally think blonde looks more beautiful on a sunkissed, blushed or tanned skin than freaking pale like me.
I majorly damaged and messed up my hair when I tried to bleach it myself as a teenager and in my 20s so I’m too afraid to try again. 🤣 I did dye it myself for many years. I finally just let it go gray! I’m free!
FYI...I have been doing it a lot longer than you. Try using 40 volume and t11 or t28.i finally figured it out after years of experience . But, I always use a ph treatment after all the coloring. Which I get from Sally's .
I tried once with two mirrors, when I was doing the back part I started to feel dizzy, nauseous..I thought wth 🤦🏼♀️ why I’m doing this? 😭🤣🔫 I was very very sick! Thanks for sharing I will watch all the videos to see if I can learn something new
Thank you for sharing this with us. I had such a hard time coloring my hair after moving to the United States, because I could not find my Tone Vitality's toner here. So, I ended up purchasing it from Romania and have it send here. But recently I ran out of it and I had to color my hair and used l'oreal toner. It has darkened my hair from 10 to 8. Such a bummer. Today I went to Sally Beauty and bought the Ion hair color remover and it did remove the L'oreal toner and now I'm left to tone my hair once again. I am happy it did not damage my hair ( it's a powder in a purple envelope that you mix it with water). I will take your advice and try this Toner from Ion. I hope it will turn out okay. My hair color is similar to yours. I will mix it with my 6 vol (1.9%) activator from Vitality's. I've always used this activator with my toner.
23:55 yeah, that's what i did on my naturally medium brown hair around 15 to 10 years ago. it's not new products, it's just hairdressers pushing stuff on us we don't actually need to get the hair color we want.
I look good with both roots and without them + my hair is curly, so I can do my hair "whatever" and if it turns patchy, nobody see it - it even gives more dimension to curls. I'm a little cheater.
I wanna know... Lets say i have dark brown hair. Long hair ... And i bleach it to dye it all white Eventually Ill have to cut off my hair ? I mean... If you bleach and bleach your hair eventually you'll have to cut it off ?
I have black hair and I bleached two front pieces of my hair white. It really depends on how much your hair can take bleach, I had to bleach it 4x to get to white and it worked well but some people might get chemical cuts or fall outs. I would recommend you go to a hairstylist so they can check the quality of your hair, but if you're thinking of doing it at home like I did, its better you try doing a small segment to see how you hair reacts. If you don't have any type of chemical procedures like hair relaxing you have greater chances of your hair not having a chemical cut and you won't have to chop your hair later.
Wow 15 mins to apply bleach is very fast. My stylist takes about 50 mins on my short pixie. So it's actually on the back for about 1hr 40min. Level5/6 natural hair
I'm a dark brunette who has gotten more gray in recent years and the roots are becoming more obvious...so I want to go bright auburn but first will have to bleach so I'm studying 😁
I rewatched this bc I forgot what it was about (and I came from your hair color trends video) but I wanted to ask you if you ever tried the cream bleach? Or anything else in your DIY bleaching/toning? Your hair is so incredibly shiny!! Do you use an oil or serum or is that the ION Demi-Permanent color? Just wow!! I’ve never used ION bc I’ve heard it’s got metals (or something like really bad for the hair) in it, but this is an awesome outcome of shine that I think I might try it l! I’ve used Redken Shades EQ (usually all 3 types: gloss, creams, and the cover+ for my rootage area!) and I’ve not been able to see such shine from many at home or salon only products!! Anyways, If you change your routine will you do another diy hair video? 😁I love how you’re so informative and helpful and that you also talk color theory!! Many at home DIYS would go so different if the “OMG! My hair fell out from at home bleaching” or the “I turned my hair purple from at home toner” brave souls that trial and error their hair without these basics. So bravo you! And tyfs! ~Alli 😁
Its funny, I'm Eurasian with natural cool-black hair but when holidaying in Indonesia had my hair bleached platinum blonde for fun and had so many Russian tourists mistaking me for Eastern European and talking in Russian to me lol. That was pretty weird. I think maybe Ukrainian/Czech/Central Asian girls have similar colouring/look to me...? 🤔
I don't think it's only your facial features that make them think you are russian, it's probably because almost every russian/eastern european woman bleach their hair... at least everyone I know in my country...
Yeah, it's slowly killing the roots permanently (or emediately in some cases) making you go bald or with very thin and fragile hair. Not worth it. Plus with bleached hair it's so fragile that you can barely touch it for it to break, and if you have a boyfriend it's a disaster. They love getting their hands in your hair and can be pretty ruff sometimes. It's no fun finding like half of your hair lost every time you have fun with your guy... Not worth it. I stopped using chemicals on my head altogether when I was 22 and now at 51 it's curly (naturally) and super healthy. I've never had this good hair before and I get compliments every day. That didn't happen before. So to me natural is best...
