He's looking at the OBS meter and EVERYONE knows that the OBS meter is not a good indicator of actual mic output. This m0r0n could do a test recording or use the MONITOR function to observe the audio level of the mic. smh.

Got a starter setup 10 years ago and won’t get new equipment to improve the setup. Others slowly upgrade equipment so they don’t get left behind. Phil won’t even update his damn windows because the system “isn’t broken” yet constantly complains stuff isn’t working.
To be fair to focusright, the scarlet box is perfectly fine, people use them in home recording all the time which is beyond what he's doing. If I had to guess, he's using an active mic without giving it power. There's a button right on his interface that says like +9v or similar that should fix it, but don't tell darsfadill.

he's gotta let everyone know that his just above quality of a USB headset/mic XLR mic, is professional. If it has a an arm and an amplifier, it's professional grade. It doesn't matter what components are inside the plastic, oh no. DSP doesn't want you to know all of that. If you bring up specs and how they perform you will be known as a detractor! You approve of his bad tech choices and you be thankful by giving the gout king money.

1:13 wait huh??? Wtfdym it doesn’t have mic booster feature? Gain filter boosts mics like mad. In fact, my mic without filters will pic up tv downstairs with crisp clarity. And even then, after compressors, limiters and noise cancel i still add gain to my mic. I’d rather give ppl option to turn down my stream to their audio comfort level than them struggle to hear what I say. OMFG, how lazy are, Phil???? Simple YT tutorial taught me how to set up my mic. It’s not perfect, I’m still struggling with fine tuning noise cancellation & third-party filter to make my voice a bit warmer and cozier sounding, but overall, it works. I’d like to add auto-ducking too when my voice is auto elevated over the in-game audio. He cant even be bothered to do smth so simple. OMG! It’s not an OBS issue, it’s YOU! AGAIN! 6:17 that artwork is so early 2000s garbage… Sorry, not sorry. It’s good for personal use or practicing drawing skills, but pre-stream slide show is so outdated, it’s cringe Now, to be fair, I’ve been having some issues with OBS myself. Even considered to switch to SLOBS, but the CPU use of the latter put me off the idea. My OBS tends to stop working when I end streams. I re-installed it fresh, so i’m gonna test in the nearest future how it works

Screamy vocalist here, been using Scarlet Focusrite for about 10 years give or take. Its got three knobs, two for individual audio plugs and one for overall volume. The fact that he never thought to twist one of the three knobs over 10 goddamn years has now made me ascend to a whole new level of frustration I never thought possible. I do a lot of my audio editing in Logic Pro but even the most basic indie artist knows "turn knob, loud go boom". Jesus Christ.
