I have a 2007 sel V6 fusion I brought with 119,500. Always wanted one so glad I got one. Even used it drives like new so smooth handling is excellent. I love this car. With normal maintenance I should be able to get another 200-300,000 miles on it. Such a beautiful car. Get u one
@@ChoppyGang oh yeah I got a newer car already so I don’t have it no note but I think it got to 250,000. Ford is a good if maintained and cheap to repair either ways
@@trilliamc5185 thinkin about buyin one for my first car is it worth it ? For like 4500 but the air bag in the passaanger is bubbling up a little bit and the brakes are iffy
I have a 2009 Fusion 6 cyl SE with 170k now and this gave me flashbacks. Pretty much the same sequence of repairs I went through at about the same mile intervals.
I like that you said all the repairs that have been done on this car! This is what makes your car review video better than the other youtubers and more useful to potential buyers like me!
I test drove one of those when I was car shopping because I always liked how they looked. It was a fully loaded model with 40,000 Miles. I was surprised how much cheep plastic (not that plastic is an issue, but cheep plastic and quality plastic make all the difference) there was for such a loaded and expensive car. Ended up with a 2012 Passat SE which I loved but recently traded for a 2007 Tahoe LTZ which was the best decision ever.
gmancarini1 A VW Passat? They will almost give those cars away...just sign and drive. VWs are really crappy cars, so it was a good idea to get rid of it.
He did I had a 2009 SEL with the SAP 18 inch on Goodyear RSAs and I replaced them after 7 years at 68,000 miles. The sidewalls were separating at the seams.
I have a 2011 Fusion and it was fine until I hit 175,000 and it’s been absolutely nothing but issues since. I’ve basically had the whole engine replaced, I should say the majority of the components . Idle pulley 3 times. Most of the steering components. A/C compressor kit. 4 wheel bearings. It was one of my most favorite daily drivers till then. This might not be the same for anyone else just thought I’d tell y’all my experience since I’ve owned my Fusion since 100miles.
Masta Hyper Snyper that’s because the last good fusion was the 2009 model year. the 06-09 fusions/milans are mazda6’s so they are very reliable cars. then in 2010 ford put their crap into it and ruined it.
I bought a 08 Impala LTZ. About a year and a half ago. It's my first car and I love it the Bose audio everything. The car has no issues at all. I bought it with 137,000 and I now have 150,000 miles. I simply really like driving it. The V6 is responsive and plenty of power for passing and getting on the highway. I hope it goes to 200,000 miles.
I am also thinking about getting an Impala as my next car. My grandparents are on their 3rd one. I know it is more cheaply made than my LeSabres(Impala logo fell off the side of the car and the cruise control stickers on the steering wheel rubbed off). I like that they are big and powerful and can ram through snow drifts on my long commute to work. I have heard my friends say that on theirs you hear a thumping in the dash from the vent door actuators failing every 50,000 miles. Amazingly my Grandparents never had that issue, but they only have 67,000 miles on their 2013 model one. They just did have to replace a front wheel bearing at 67,000 miles and they have the hard press fit ones, so I heard it was a bear cat to replace and they had to use a puller on it.
My cousin also had to have his throttle body replaced on his 2009 Ford Fusion 2.3L in 2021 and the mice had chewed some wires as well. The repair bill was $2000 at a local mechanic. He said the car gets 31 mpg and seems to have alright power. I also see that all the interior panels in the dash are starting to warp and it looks terrible. The gas cap door doesn't want to stay shut either. The spring is really weak. It is actually a pretty big car and has 16" rims. The trunk looks just a little too small to fit a scoop shovel in for the winter, but each of the back seats can be folded down to accomodate for that. I had been looking at buying a Fusion, but I don't think it is a good fit for me. I have been driving Buicks LeSabres all my life. Other than oil changes, nothing breaks on them up to 200,000 miles. I did replace one front wheel bearing at 175,000 miles and it was only $73 on ebay and it is the slide on hub style, so it is really easy and only takes 30 minutes. You did a great job on the video!
this many issues with a car in 150k miles is 100% normal, people buying car's thinking they should never have an problems should not be driving. or people thinking because they had a problem it should be recalled. Daniel and i both have dealership experience and both have heard the complants
Japanese cars don't have as many issues as American cars. American cars are poor quality. Even my 237,000 mile Forester didn't have that many issues when it got up into higher miles.
I fully agree you just cant beat the Japanese. My first car was a 95 Lexus ls400 that I traded in last year for a new ES. And that car had 287k and ran almost as good as my new one. the only thing I had to do was change the timing belt and water pump.
+Ricardo 里卡多 It has nothing to do with country of origigin. Of course an Accord is going to last far longer than this. But say, a Toyota Avalon, while very reliable, still isn't as reliable as the Ford panther platform. And as far as constrution goes, the Avalon can't even compete.
I have a 2008 Ford Fusion AWD V6 with an Aisin 6 speed. I've replaced all 4 wheel bearings, and I've already replaced 2 of them a second time. I've also replaced one of the driveshafts, the entire sunroof, the flex pipe, resonators, and the Y pipe, and twice I've had to fix broken door locks/handles Finally, I don't like the 17 inch wheels and tires at all. I recently upgraded to 18 inch 10 spoke wheels out of a 2011 Sport Package (not 3.5L sport model) and the handling is like night and day. I can take offramp at 10mph faster than I was before. I will never go back to 17s
@@manuelesquivel2107 they arent known for their robustness, but I have 190k on mine with no issues. Ive put 10k on it since may and it drives just fine! It still shifts quite smooth
I sold my 2006 Fusion SEL, 4cyl with a 5sp MANUAL at 350,000 miles. Get this, ORIGINAL clutch... traded it for a 2008 Taurus X AWD Limited, and just recently purchased a 2010 Fusion Hybrid with every option.
I have the SE with black interior and leather seats. Really nice. Im jealous of ur SEL tho. It comes with that automatic climate control. The SE I have doesn't have that.
I live in the mountains and have the same complaint with my 2007. I just put it into second and modulate the gas pedal to prevent the shift down. Of course you don't want the motor screaming either. been a great car otherwise.
We have a 2009 Ford fusion we are having problems with it not shooting out air from the top vents very well. Very weak. Bottom vents are fine. What could be the problem? It has no filter in glove box for this year model.
i owned a 09 fusion sel it was a decent car but there were cheap areas of the car i didnt like. the back was made of either very thin cheap sheet metalor or alumnium it would dent so easily. the grab handle would hang down after a while and wouldnt retract back. the gloss around the center console started peeling up. just little cheap things that ford could have adressed to make this car better, but overall it was a decent car.
I have am '06 that has 160k. I bought it from my mom at 50k, she bought it around 25k. I had the same thermostat issue, and had to change the battery. I changed the brake pads at 120k (and mom had never had them changed). I changed transmission fluid and filter at 80k, and it has a bit of a slip now so I imagine it's due. The CD player crapped out long ago, and fuck Ford for putting the same radio in my friend's '06 F150 but putting a clock on it. Can't take the transmission out of overdrive. A piece of plastic is broken in my shifter, so while it still finds gears normally, it twists back and forth a lot and will sometimes not trip the switch to release the key. I haven't changed plugs or fuel filter, those are coming soon. Overall it's a great daily commuter. I'll probably push it to 200k, and hand it off to my kid when he turns 16.
I had the same car I never saw 28 miles to the gallon, now I'll see that on the highway but around town maybe 24 or 23. also yes that drive to low mode was very very irritating and could not figure out why in the world ford did that. they should have had a way for you to go from 5th to 4th even to third.
Don't do it. My friend had a 2012 Focus with the 6 speed auto. Nothing but issues with that transmission at only 86,000 miles. She was so happy when she finally got it sold. I have not heard how the Fusions are though...
I see these 1st gen fusions everywhere and all above 250k. Name me a company that hasn't any issues with age? I bet Chevy, Dodge and Toyota has had their fair of issues. All these are minor repairs
I pray you don’t be a fool. I got a 2011 6.0 with 164.000 miles. Brought it with 143.000 miles. For 13 hundred. And they fix something’s on it like break’s routers and a few others things. That high
@Stuart, i'm not even sure the thing has any grease fittings, to be honest. I would think there'd be some . Anyone here know? ..are there grease /zerk fittings on the suspension components (tie rod ends, ball joints etc)? or are they factory greased and self contained. SImply meant to be replaced when worn. I dunno stuart. We can use a needle adapter to shoot grease into joints with no fittings.
I have an 06 with 104K and I have had a few of the problems he's had but not all of them. I have had the valve cover gasket, the battery has been replaced (but I didn't have the PCM problem), both ball joints, and brakes and brake pads. As far as tires go if you put cheap ones on this car (I had Douglas tires from Walmart on it) they DO NOT last long. we've put quite a few tires on it but we've put more expensive tires on it recently and the do last a lot longer. its a great car and I do recommend one to anyone.
Most of the things he mentioned are normal wear and tear. Battery, brake rotors, tires, plugs, etc. The 2006-2012 Fusion is a very reliable car that rides really nice. I have a V6 Milan with 125,000 miles. Time to get a new car, but I hate to part with the Milan. BTW the only thing I've replaced is the battery and tires. And the CD player quit working about a year ago.
I have an 2010 with 150 thousand miles and had no problems besides a broken tie rod on the driver side and thats it other than being hit five times it still run perfect other than some dents from being hit and not having the money to fix it i love my car
I had a 2007 Fusion with a V6. Bought it with 7000 miles and sold it with just shy of 100,000 miles on it. Had 0 problems with it. Just oil changes and a battery. The car had great power and decent fuel economy. My only issue was that the interior door handles felt cheap. They didn't break on me but I was always real careful of them. Loved the car!
You took real good care of that car. It looks great. I drove a 2006 Fusion SEL V6. I bought it with 72k and drove it until 168k. It was a good car. The problems I had with it other than regular wear items were: Trans line failed at 73k (not a big deal) Right front blinker stayed on, had to pull bulb to keep battery from dying- Ford wanted $750 to fix (yeah right) Belt pulleys were cheap and were replaced three times Throttle body replaced at 100k Water leak into driver side interior that started around 130k Cheap interior drivers side door latch broke. Dealer wanted $350 to fix, I fixed it myself for $25 Possible MAF sensor problem developed when it was hard to start the car when temps were in the 40's Pros: Lots of power for a 3.0 V6 Excellent stock audio system Nice styling Considered it a reliable car 6 speed trans shifted very well with only 1 trans flush/filter change at 73k.
2012 SE with the 4 cyl. Got it from Ford used with 80K and it just turned 160k. It's been highly reliable engine wise. Expected wear and tear with a battery replacement, front break job 1x, and tires. But I also had to replace both tie rods, the AC switch and recharge, and just recently, the power steering went at 156k. It's a recall and I took it to the Ford dealership where I bought the car per my mechanic's suggestion. However, Ford then said the recall warranty was only in effect up to 150k (I was 6k over and never received a recall notice) and after spending a day at the dealership service station and then fighting with Ford corporate over the phone for multiple days (which they outsource their customer service, btw - an American company like Ford!!!), and after all that they declined to repair it. It's a defective part regardless of milage according to my mechanic and they should have fixed it (Not to mention I was 1 oil change past the milage limit for the recall repair! The right thing to do was to fix it). Ford said it would cost me $2,500 for them to fix it! After I obviously declined the dealership's offer to rape me, they then had the nerve to charge me a $189 diagnostic fee!!!! I will never buy a Ford again and I was a Ford guy. Btw, my local mechanic fixed it for $950. Still a lot and it's a defect!
I met an Uber driver with this car and he had 200k miles 170k from driving Uber in 5 years. I was surprised but looks like all Ford's with v6 engines are reliable because they don't put much work on the transmission.
Saw a 2007 Fusion V6 with 89K Xlnt condition, on craigslist going to check it out. and 50K miles on Tires is just fine with me. Did my homework on this car, very good reviews across the board.
I have a 2007 5 speed Fusion with 266,000++ and counting. Has been a brilliant vehicle. Bought it new with 12 miles. Still has original clutch even. Very minimal repairs on mine aside from normal maintenance which I do myself and has always been full synthetic oil Valvoline oil changes every 5,000 miles since oil change number 1. Have also done a couple rounds of full synthetic Amsoil gear lube for the manual transmission gearbox. I’ve not had any wheel bearing issues he mentioned. I got 123k miles out of the last brakes I installed too. Best car I’ve ever owned reliability wise, by far.
I have a 2006 Ford Fusion and I live in Canada with all kinds of weather conditions. Outside of regular maintenance, she's never in the shop. I love these cars!
@@ricardovargas1526 I have 110 kms (which is about 60K miles) on my '06 Fusion right now. I usually get about 300kms out of my cars. But hey, I really try to take care of my cars.
Thank you for this, Daniel! Looking at buying a 2008 Ford Fusion for $500 here with a broken idler pulley, and this confirmed that I am excited about the purchase! Also, HUGE congrats on recently surpassing 100,000 subscribers! 😁👍
I have a 2012 Ford Fusion, family had it since new. Nice car (now mine) but it was built on a Friday or Monday (legend has it workers slack off or are hurrying to get job done) Antenna noise on the radio (common issue) Rear oil seal leak (unknown to be common) If going high speed 70ish plus if no one is in passenger front seat it will rattle and make noise. After some time after a warranty repair I noticed groggy noise if low rpm going 41 mph. Ironically another ford has this issue but they said non related because my car does not have AWD. They said flex pipe rattles and it would be that. I bet that got broke when they took engine out for seal replacement. Great car and it is highly rated on consumer reports. I have 2012 and my dad got new version 2013. But he had transmission leak and a defect in the paint and a window trim part. His car is a first new model of year car, mine is last of last gen. Great cars though. Just telling my story. I hope it lasts long time. I put good synthetic in it and filter. One last thing that dealer said was that my AC was not at coldest temp and they charged to refill fluid etc. Was not expecting to do that. It is alot cooler now, I previously thought it did not seem as cold as it used to.
I have the exact same car with 137k miles except mine has 0 issues. I daily drove it for a year with 0 issues worst thing that happened is a flat. I've done 2 oil changes every 5k miles I got it at 125k miles I make sure to keep my fluids topped off I'm thinking of selling it for a newer car. She runs like a dream I'm not sure what price
lol wft? I bought mine at 90k miles, put 70k miles on it and have had NON of these issues. At 160k right now. Had to get the rockerpanels done because I'm in a northern state with salty roads and didn't fluid film every year.
My 08 has 160. I’ve only had to replace the thermostat, the thermostat regulator and strut bearings. Probably have to do a belt tensioner soon but it’s been a great car.
I have an 09' with 210,000. Bought it used with 82,000. Naturally the typical wear items like bearings, tie rods, steering and suspension items have worn but is largely trouble free. I got 267K out of an 01' Grand Am so I'm hoping I get at least another 58,000 out of my Fusion.
Thanks man, I bought this car and it's extremely well preserved but I will keep in mind everything you said I should expect. I heard trasmission can be the more expensive issue with this car but will replace the fluid and filter
I have a 09 2.3 sport package they offered five speed manual she runs great at 210k miles oil changed mobile 1 every 5 k miles. Other then normal wear has 18 factory wheels Had to replace front end parts bearing normal wear items no major engine parts have gone but it’s easy to work on when they do.
I have a 2007 with the 3 litre v6 and it has been bullet proof never changed anything on it except the usual maintenance; breaks, oil and battery in at 110 000 miles right now
My Fusion 08 SEL 4 cylinder is going to 170k miles with pretty much the same fixes. I did replace both Rear Hub Bearing because of play and noise. I haven't replaced the front ones. Had an issue with the serpentine belt tensioner with about 165k miles and also changed all 4 rotors with around 140k miles. Also had the issue with the thermostat stuck open with 130k miles (yes it's a hassle to replace it).
Good review! Ford Fusions are very good family sedans and rather sporty. Ur review of a 2nd yr Gen1 model shows they are well designed & very reliable. Ppl I know that have em seem to really like em! The recent models are even more sporty w/ Ecoboost motor options & ultra frugal if you choose Fusion Hybrid. I heard the top line Ecoboost motor gives close to 350hp ? Thats bonified sport sedan territory.. if true.
I hate my 2012. Ford makes you take extra steps to achieve your goals. Like removing the tires. The lugs have some plastic cover on the requiring you to hammer the tire iron into the socket well over them which eventually destroyed the included iron. (Maybe 10 tire removals). Then we get to the interior. I hate it when I buy something that i need to fix! The dome lights are not controlled by the driver (replaced with leds) the stupid chiming every time I turned the car on because of "service advancetrac" low fuel and driver door ajar. I know the damn door is ajar. I ajared it. If you open the door with by the key in the ignition it will chime untill you remove them or take apart the dash and remove the little speaker. Now I have to figure out how to get the turn signal noise back. Changing the extra quite stock radio messes up nav, advancetrac, abs, sync, and more. If you ar en youtubing a diy repair dont bother remembering socket/wrench sizes. They had to be special every chance they got. Kill me please
I have a question, so I have a 2006 Ford Fusion and I have a leak on top of the left side of the engine. There is a leak falling on the belt on the left side as well. It's basically filled with oil. You think you might know what it is? Thanks
I´VE FUSION 2007 MODEL VERSION SEL .. THIS ONE IS SIMPLY AMAZING .. IT HAS OVER 150.000 MILES AND RUNS SPECTACULAR. BUY IT NO MATTER WHAT YEAR AND HOW MANY MILES HAVE ON... JUST BUY IT...
I have an 07 Se 2.3L 4 cylinder I bought it in January 2021 with 78k on it for $2,500 I talked her down from 3 grand bc it needed some love and care It’s now at 109k and some change but I’ve done a lot to her Valve gasket seal Power steering gasket valve All new sparks and coil packs Idler air valve control Cleaned the fuel rail and all new fuel injectors New Throttle Body just because.. New motor mounts New rotors New brakes in rear and one new rear drivers side caliper New oil drain plug😊 lol Also put 3 90 degree 1/2 inch pvc to fix the ac condenser leak from draining back into the passenger side of the car from watching this guys video actually!! New radio touch screen with reverse camera New tires at 100k Also put new leather seats in bc mine were cloth I found 2012 seats with the headrest for the back and I found 2008 seats for the front and had the matching passenger seat that folds down flat too! Tinted to 85% all the way around too! Next is to put taillights and bumper from a 2010-12 model bc I hate my tail lights BTW this is one of the best vehicles besides my 10th gen f-150 that I’ve ever owned
I have a 2008 Ford Fusion se with 211k miles and it runs great still. I’ve done some upgrades to it as well. I do need to change my control arms and ball joints asap though
@@hcsswest5047 okay so 10 months later after making my first comment, I will say the ford fusions have lots of suspension and power steering issues. Other than that my 08 fusion has been good ever since my first comment
I have a 2012 Ford Fusion sel just hit 160k great car only problems I had was breaks and rotors needed replacing (driving for Uber ) never again lol . The shifter lock Broke which wouldn’t let my key out of the ignition so had to unhook the battery to reset to let key out. $745 to replace at Ford . That’s all till now 2020 but went to get new tires and dude says I have a little play on my pass wheel. Should be an easy fix to do it myself. I hope to keep this car going for a while I just hate the new ones .
I have a 07 Ford Fusion SE , 4 cylinder and have a problem no mechanic can solved. When you accelerate from a stop the car makes a load rumble sound. You can only hear it inside of the car, when you place your foot on the brake and press the gas it still makes this loud rumble sound for about 5 seconds. If you accelerate slowly the sound does not appear...wondering if you seen or heard of this type of problem? PS: the motor mounts were changes last year we recently changed one mount again-the dogbone or tranny mount, still this symptom persists. Also one mechanic said it was the air box silencer, not sure that was the issue...you only hear the noise inside the car...if you stand outside and gas it while pressing the brake you will not hear this rumbling sound outside the car...
With 150,000 miles my 2009 Ford Fusion in the last 4 years has had a wheel bearing replaced, the ball joints, the cam shaft position sensors, water pump, some clamp thing on the brakes that was making them wear out prematurely and it’s still doing it, the head gaskets, the engine mount, the torque rod mount, and a few other things. Also now it’s leaking oil all over my garage. It hasn’t exactly been reliable lol
My cousin has a 2009 Ford Fusion 2.3 and in 2020 and 2021 he has replaced a lot of parts on it too and now he just had a $2000 repair bill, because the mechanic had to replace the throttle body and a bunch of wires the mice had chewed through.
I had an 04 Sport Trac, thermostat went went bad around 120k, car started to over heat, and the CD player also stopped working around that time as well. AC went out around 150k, it was a good vehicle over all though. I like Ford. They just need to make better thermostats I guess lol
Dealer I think ruined mine with other work at 42k miles. Havent felt like spending 80 bucks for one for the ones I have seen. Got muffler tape on it to try to help which it somewhat maybe has.
Mine has been an awesome car BUT something needs to be done because when I bought the car the brake pedal seemed fine although it was a bit soft. As time has progressed it's gotten worse and worse and it almost put my life in danger! Ford please take notice and fix this!!!! It's an almost 1,000 dollar fix just to feel safe and this is a very common problem!
