The guy who owns it obviously knows exactly what works and buys quality gear. I'd have loved Ronny to have asked him how much it all cost. The only way I could take seven months off work to drive around Australia would be to win the lottery. Really wished I'd have studied harder at school.;-)
Studying at school is kind of irrelevant, I've got mates that hardly even went to school that are seriously cashed up. Just worked hard and smart, mostly by running their own businesses instead of being employed and working for someone else's dreams.
Great Modified. What a setup! If I had a dream list of mods - I think this one would tick everyone. Seems a really easy going bloke, who spends he’s hard earned on something he loves. Good onya 👍
Its better than the troopy. Its automatic, has got rear doors, is better on Tarmac, more modern and is less noisy and lighter.Troopy only wins with space and extreme off road driveability.I would take the prado anyday
Great work on the prado. I thought I had gone a bit overboard with mods but you leave me for dead. Only thing though have you weighed the prado, I have the Lovells 3500 kgs GVM upgrade no upgrade on fuel tank , no water tank, no rear bar with extra wheel and only my wife and I and with the 240 kgs for towball weight from our caravan and we are near the limit. Other than that great job.
Great review and a really well setup Prado. Have had my 150 for almost 9 years and have been in every state in OZ in it at some stage, all be it briefly. If I add one locker, a water tank, long range tank, rear wheel carrier, GVM upgrade and a solar panel, i will be very close to this one. In 2 years when I can start to travel a lot more, a couple of these mods will be added along with a new clutch to my old school manual.
Nice, cool truck...kindly tell me about the following: 1. I hear that Prado's suffer from " overturning " easily...How is this taken care of when you build a rig like this? 2. Having a off-road like this in Africa is so attractive to thieves and robbers...when parked, or visiting remote villages...How can one take care of this? 3. How much (approx.) does this kind of build cost? 4. Suppose someone wants to import an already modified truck like this from Australia to Kenya? ...Possible?
Great video Ronny , he should buy a cheap good quality OBD reader , any sensor issues , you can delete the code and it will allow you to change to 4lo , just for back up , the code will come back eventually . In my app you can save the code and all the readings for future reference before deleting, helpful when you really need it .
@@burnsie4x433 oh okay 👍, iv had a repetitive issue with my 2010 prado o2 sensor , it kept showing the 4lo, engine and traction control combo warning lights , i would just delete the code when i needed to till i could fix it . Just thought i share , love your rig
He mentions that 32.5 inch tires are the maximum legal size tires on a Prado while Ronny has 34.5s on his 70 series. . . How does Australia determine max tire size??? Here in Europe--like in the USA--there are no limits.
We're allowed 50mm larger diameter than the largest size stated on the tyre placard. So a 265/65R17 is approx. 776mm which means you can fit a tyre up to 826mm overall diameter. The largest tyre that can legally be fitted to this vehicle is a 275/70R17 with an overall diameter around 817mm. Hope that helps :)
Should have been titled "The Prado Swiss Army Edition" Only thing missing is some Gull-Wing rear windows. I'd love to see his Vehicle Insurances Additions section
A soon as I saw your 150 I siad , thats over GVM but at 15:10 you have the upgrade, good work. I had ST MAxx on my GU about 7 years ago, never again. I had the fronts replaced to splitting and saw toothing 6 times! At least Coopers covered it but it was too inconvenient and I ended up with mismatched tires for wear as the rears were fine. Also they had NO grip in the wet, at all. Bit like BFGs, not for on road at all. Currently running D697s on the 150, and at 50,000kms they are hard and brittle, will do for school runs but not staying. The Amarok has Falken ATw3, these are GOLD. Check them out, really bloody good tire! Currently have the same model as you, and a V6 Amarok (lifted and 31"), debating which one to deck out for trips, my heart says Amarok (power!) and my head says Prado (dependable!).
Love my prado , he’s setup is full on however I’d like to know what the GVM is .I don’t have half the amount of gear he has and I’m already on 2.7 t . GVM I think is about 2.9 t so not much room to move after you put the family in mine .
Great Vid as always.. love your work.. great set up in the Prado and Chris is a very nice fellow.. had the pleasure of meeting him on the Iraelite Bay trip.. Joe...
Really enjoyed seeing that awesome setup with all the fruit. This otherwise fit Dad got a huge tummy at 26mins + when talking about pies, that tyre placement was unfortunate LOL. Gee that beers didnt touch the sides Ronny. Good video mate
Great build. Cooper STmaxx is great in every terrain, last long. Yes, a bit noisier and bit less grip on wet road, but not by much, surprisingly well on bitumen. AT3 as good as stock on bitumen, but a lot softer structure than STmaxx.
I’m curious whether the 3.0 diesel power is enough to handle all that load, and how much the fuel efficiency suffered with all the mods. Also whAt’s that trailer they are using? Seems its size is perfect for prado
A question I have is; Was there any modifications done to accommodate the 275/70/17 other than a 2" lift? Any cutting of plastic ect. As I noticed the front Mud flaps are still in place. Any help feed back would be greatly appreciated. And as usual another fantastic vid with spot on content.
