I had a co worker hit a car riding a r6 at about 100mphs. He was racing with 2 of his friends while on break from work one night on the overnight shift of Wal-Mart. We used to have hour breaks so allot of us would leave to get dinner or just ride around. He wore full gear and a helmet. He broke his neck hitting a sign post. Not sure if he was killed when he first hit the crown vic that pulled in front of him, but he was definitely dead after his neck wrapped around a sign post. RIP STAN!!!
"They" meaning all your nephews? Or all people that ride motorcycles? For what it's worth, lots of people who ride do think about what happens if you don't die in a major motorcycle accident. In fact, one of the rather perverse justifications for no helmet required states was a medical study that showed that although helmets reduced major cranial injuries at lower speeds, that above 30 or 35mph it tended to break the neck leaving people quadriplegic. If they survived. I wore a helmet when I still rode.

Not one of these bikers who run seems to be able to ride. You could tell he was afraid to lean the bike. I'm surprised he didn't take himself out sooner.
Not the ones who make these channels anyway. How many videos do you think are available to be published, but never are because the rider is gone in under a minute? Probably 10x the amount you see who get caught.
I was coming back from the beach in 1983 on my Yamaha 750 bike. I was wearing shorts, no shirt, and sunglasses. Then I ran into a hailstorm at 70 mph. The hail felt like bee stings. What a wild ride that was!
A guy that got me my first real job, rode a big bike. He raised 2 boys on bikes. Within 1 year he lost both to crashes. He hung up his helmet after that. Back in the 70's in Atlanta.
The amount of factors that go into surviving an accident are crazy. Ive seen and heard of people dying because a turned into them at a stop light. Seen someone die getting tboned by someone only going 15mph.
This cop was completely composed and had his emotions in check upon exiting his car and approaching the rider on the ground and exiting his vehicle. No overreacting, screaming, landing with a knee to the back etc….he totally knew the pursuit was over and the scene was immediately safe for him due to the magnitude of the accident. I appreciate his concern for the rider’s injuries. This is all part of the job the signed up for.

I can imagine what the trooper is telling him. 😊 My brother was on one years ago and T boned a car flew over the hood and slid down the pavement not nearly as far as this dude did and his life was a living hell from road rash for weeks. This guy is in for quite an experience. Plus after he heals he’ll have deal with the consequences.

Cyclists have to obey the law if they want to ride on public roads. If they want to drive around over twice the speed limit, they need to be taken off the street. I used to work as a mechanic with my local Police Department. After every pursuit the cruiser had to be taken Out of Service, the officer wrote a description of what stresses that the vehicle had been put under. Then the entire vehicle had to be inspected, brake linings recorded and special attention placed on any systems on the cruiser that could have been damaged by those stresses before it could be returned to service. Holy Crap, where do you start on this one? The kid on the motorcycle is lucky to be alive but he put a lot of skin in the game.

Our car was hit from behind by a crotch rocket motorcycle in Florida back in 2007. It split the car in 2 clear up to the steering wheel. The driver and his passenger each died and I wish I would have, too. My back was broken, my pelvis was broken, my rotator cuff was torn, my biceps tendon was torn off, and I had a concussion that lasted over a year. Others in the car faired much better but still suffered injuries over a 24 year old and his 16 year old girlfriend mad at the world speeding down the highway. Invinsible, or so they thought.
How unfortunate.. my sympathy to you. How have you been now that it is 17 years later? I am sure getting older does not help with your pain and mobility but understand that you displayed powerful strength and spirit to experience such an event and come through to the other side alive, you are still here on Earth which is a testament for yourself. Although he should have stopped, as long as he didn't rape kill or rob a bank, he should have backed off. What do you think is going to happen at that speed. Was it worth it to the cop to give him a ticket to see him get killed. Somebody'son, dad, brother, lover. Maybe that wasn't a good choice on his behalf but it's not worth getting behind the guy and chasing him at 150 Mi an hour and pushing him to see if he can wreck and get killed or kill others. Just isn't worth it. And if you don't care about him, you can at least think about his family and people who do care about him. Where I live, if it exceeds 100 mph, it will be called off. It's not just the biker going that fast. The cop could have an accident too. If his car hit another at 150 mph., every one involved would probably die or wish they had. Chases at that speed are very dangerous and if the runner isn't going to stop, then the cop should call it off. Giving out a ticket isn't worth the lives jeopardized in pursuing the guy. Common sence!!
Many years ago, as a volunteer fireman, we had a call to a motorcycle accident. When we got to the scene, the cyclist was sitting in the middle of the road at the end of a very long streak of blood and flesh. He had his legs outstreched in front of him. He was completely lucid and knew his name and phone number, etc. His buttocks were gone all the way to his pelvic bone. He had fallen asleep on his bike and came off the back and slid on his butt until it was gone. We didn't find the bike until about an hour later in the ditch, about 600 feet from where he was found.
One time I rode past a motorcycle crash in the Boston tunnel and a guys torso was in like 3 separate pieces. Apparently he was racing and clipped the fencing along the wall at like 150.

I dunno about that, there was a woman in Arkansas who got ejected from her car during a pursuit; she was going 122 mph and she didn't have a helmet or protective gear. If it's not your time, it's not your time.
The other part of the equation is: how fast was the car going at the time of impact? If the car was going 75, and (I doubt that the bike was doing 135), then subtract the car speed from the bike speed and you have the impact speed. I doubt the impact speed was much over 30 MPH, so he certainly could have survived the crash with minimal injuries.
Short lesson: you aren’t likely to outrun a police interceptor, no matter what you think. Longer lesson: you can’t outrun police radio. Life lesson: riding without proper protective gear is probably gonna hurt…or kill you.
Only on open roads do you get caught, easy. Easier in New York suburbs with the labyrinth roads to lose the cops. Any teen without a license can verify.

This is the first chase video I have watched where the all of the drivers (except the perp) tried to get in the right lane as soon as they heard/saw sirens behind them. Its about time!

That was 100% voluntary, all he needed to do was comply and stay safe. I think he under estimated how fast the state trooper was. Had a big lead but the charger and trooped closed the gap, I hope the court keeps him of the roads for the next several years.

The officer was an excellent driver. That cruiser was cruisin !! Why didn't the kid just stop I cannot believe that kid survived that accident! He should thank god for a second chance in life. Incredible.

This guy was a rookie rider. You don't run from cops on straightaways for one. Bikes are fast but they're even better at breaking and cornering. That's where you need to get them down. A windy road that the cop can't stop at 140 mph for the corners
In that sort of restraint Overkill, in my hospital any of the inmates from the nearby prison that have to be admitted have to have two guards and be shackled. It's not unusual to have a comatose intensive Care unit prisoner on complete life support chained to the bed with two officers standing by.
I got stopped after going 120 in the desert on s bike, but since I complied, the deputy wrote me for a lower speed. I lost my licence for a while and became a good boy to avoid jail. This poor guy is paying dearly for his education.
I worked with a fellow who used to ride motorcycles. One day, he woke up in the hospital, they told him he had been there two weeks, he was missing a leg, broken bones, and had a head injury. He remembered nothing about the crash. He said when he rode his motorcycle, he would go crazy, and would go over a 100 mph all the time. He said losing his leg saved his life, as he could no longer ride a bike.
First thing that came to mind when he stopped skidding, "Strawberry Fields, Forever." What a schmuck. Next thought was story relayed to me by a CHP officer years ago. Same type wreck out, suspect transported to ER. When officer walked into ER to talk with the suspect, the suspect was laying on a exam table and lift himself up to speak. Officer said the sound made before the screams were, "Rrrrrriiiiiiiipppp.' The scrapes had oozed themselves to the tables surface and peeled loose upon arising.... This jack-wagon probably experienced the same 'joy'. Bobby Joe Skidmore....
See, where I am they won't do that. A flashy lawyer will argue that the dummy needs his licence for work and if his licence is taken away that means he is being doubly penalised. This rider should have his licence revoked for a couple of years and his biked squashed in a compactor and left on his front yard.
A buddy of mine ran from the cops on a stolen bike. He ended up T-Boning a car going about 100mph. He broke both his legs. He had some serious compound fractures going on. I walked up on the scene before the ambulance got there and was chatting with him to make sure he didn't go totally into shock. He stopped stealing cars and bikes after that.
In this case there aren't a lot of exits and once you get off not much traffic to get lost in. His best bet would have been to gap the ASP quickly and get off so the cop has to guess which direction he went and then shut it down
If nothing else, he could have stopped on the left shoulder, then cut through the trees to the other lanes. The cop would have had to go up to a break in the trees to get turned around. the extra minute would have added up to the bike getting away. Of course, they guy couldn't really ride. He gave up speed constantly in corners. The cop caught him far too many times.
People... listen... when a biker flies past you on the freeway at 150 MPH, MOVE THE F OVER! BEFORE you see the cop chasing him! You KNOW he's back there!
I think the driver in the white car started to move over to the right lane, but the biker was already changing into the right lane to pass the car, thus resulting in a collision.

But I was specifically talking about all the other damn fools when the officer was coming up on them at 149... just lolly-gagging along in the fast lane. Oblivious to what was going on. My guess is the trooper was pulling him over for speeding, since the trooper didn't immediately put him in cuffs. Get the license plate, run it, if no felonies come up back off & have the state mail him the ticket & license suspension.

20 years ago, son of sheriff deputy driving a cycle in south east Minnesota on hiway 61 was clocked at 205 by helicopter , 140 mph over the limit, a quarter mile in 4.37 seconds. Record speeding ticket in the state. No license either. Driving a Honda 1000, with modifications.
This guy was miserable for weeks. I had severe road rash from 40mph and couldn't sleep from the pain, when I finally did I would wake up immediately because I bent my knees sending fresh cracks through my 1/4 inch thick scab that covered my entire knees. At the hospital they used a firm bristle brush and a bowl of iodine to get the rocks out of my hands and knees before the stitches and dressing. It seemed to take forever! My butt still puckers thinking about it.
And I presume you were at home in a comfy bed, he's going to be dealing with that in a jail cell. Well, he'll have weeks of pain to reflect on his stupidity I guess.
If you think it hurts having the hospital nurses do that to you, think how it feels having to do it to yourself. First bike I bought I'd dropped on a residential cul-de-sac. It was about 30 minutes later until I was home. I then had to start picking pieces out of me, scrub brush, soap and water, and iodine. Pieces I didn't get would fester a few days later and I'd have to cut them open and dig the grit out. My sister got a lot of it out of my shoulder where I couldn't see or reach.

In the UK.. the police would close the whole road down as a priority in moments of the incident. No traffic in either direction would be allowed to pass until forensic investigators had thoroughly inspected the scene. That has good and bad points. In the UK even a small collision (especially when involving injury how so-ever caused) can shut the whole free way or motorway down causing tail backs for miles. Often drivers get really frustrated later when they finally see the reason for the hold-up and discovered it can be a fairly trivial event.. but that's how they police in the UK
Yeah....... Not a lot to investigate though as camera shows everything. Had a similar smash myself at half his speed on a two lane road in Scotland and police just directed traffic around me lying on my back in the rain with my helmet still on!
On divided roads, or multiple lane ones wide enough to do so, they also get out the plastic poles, insert them in the reflector housing, and redirect traffic into other lanes. US cops almost never redirect cars anywhere.
Yeah he's lucky, I once collided with My Motorcycle into a car at a high rate of speed out on Interstate five in wilsonville oregon right after Leaving a Construction job site. As a result Of coming in contact with the freeway Asphalt I crushed my cell phone through my rib cage, It resulted in puncturing my lungs and it bruised my heart along with dislocating my fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh rib Off my spine only to brake my back and dislocate my shoulder. It was a bad day, That was back in november twenty fifth, two thousand six, three months later on February 6th I was Jack hammering out on a dam in Estakeda oregon! I was in pretty good shape back in those days, I was just about five years right out of prison at that time Working construction, That was an incredibly fast recovery, I have continued to tear this temple down! Although I'm not healing as quick these days at sixty four years old I'm still working construction but hopefully, only for another year or so!
you're probably right. .judge will let him off easy because of his (self-inflicted) injuries. .he'll spend a few days dreaming up a story making it the cop's fault for not breaking off the chase. .then he'll spend the rest of his useless life bragging about all his exciting motorcycle adventures.
This officer did a fantastic job, he was very professional and had total control of himself and the situation. He should be teaching this to other officers. Honestly, this is the first time I've seen an officer so composed and in control....what a super great job, this officer is to be commended, and this comes from a retired 30 year law enforcement veteran.

I'm a former deputy sheriff, and usually at the end of a pursuit, it can be chaotic. When you see a guy on a bike you've been chasing crash at 100+ mph, you instantly go from expecting a fight, chase, or shootout to shocked and wanting to render aid.
The rider was dumb. But the cop was dumb too. If an innocent bystander gets killed as a result of this chase the narrative is very different and the cop would likely be looking for a new job.
I really think it would make great sense to limit acceleration (and top speeds), with both motorcycles and cars. Situations like this put the police officer in a nearly impossible fix. The driver has no intention of stopping and the officer can't "catch" the bike. Not only is the enforcement person being put at risk at these speeds, the general public is in peril too. Yet, often afterwards, the pursuer is faced with questions and hatred even though the "runner" was entirely at fault. If I had a say, I'd lean toward that driver having his licence pulled for the rest of his life. Isn't this why we have Police, to protect the innocent.
Do you know how many idiots I see speeding on bikes on Florida's roads wearing flip-flops, shorts and t-shirts? What do they think is going to happen to their skin when they "dismount"? Leathers are the way to go.
I live here in NE Florida. I don’t ride my bike during the summer. It’s just too hot to wear all my protective clothing. So the bike stays parked until the tropical airmass drops back down to the southern part of the state. Even when not wearing leathers, I wear a fully armored shirt, complete with full pads on areas most vulnerable to an accident.
