I got some issue with my rebuild Linkert carburetor on my 46 Indian Chief. It starts briefly the first kick but won't stay running then won't start again at all. I've rebuilt several Linkert carburetors over the last 50 yrs never saw this problem before and can't see what it is.

see if the body is wornout around the throttle disc. plugged up passages would be next. make sure the spray nozzle is not crusted up too. tatro

Stovepipe with a float bowl. Better known as a Linkert. Replaced the one on my 59 with a Bendix. Had a friend go over it and after I installed it I was soooooo happy to have the fire hazard gone. Slightest bit of dirt and the float would stick and leak gas everywhere and if it should just happen to backfire you ha a flaming mess on yer hands. Bye Bye Linkert

dirt is dirt. get it in your carb and you are going to have problems. linkerts work just fine when they are set-up corectly. tatro

@@TatroMachine except for the vent hole in the float bowl flange which lets DIRT into the float bowl and also dumps gas everywhere when that dirt makes the float stick. It only takes one fire to burn it to the ground

Looks like a carburetor off a 1927 john deere D
