The bits on its rear end: They’re called ‘spinnerets’. It’s where the silk is produced and woven together.

Oh wow so pretty! I can imagine doing one with spooky colors, and making them halloween decor. Or like using it as an ice mold, and putting it in the center of a punch bowl at a party!

If you use some UV resin with some green glow in the dark powder, skim that around the mold randomly and set it. Then pour in some black resin, you’ll get a creepy but great result. I’ve done that with some skulls and they look really good, especially in the dark.

Here tarantulas are common. They can get big but not that big lol and live in holes in the ground. But they leave you alone and don’t typically bite unless you are aggravating the dickens out of them. Good bug eaters. We had to scoop one up out of roadway with a shovel so it didn’t get smushed. He is beautiful!

It’s about life-sized for a bird-eating tarantula. You should do a realistic one for Halloween decor. Bend the legs while they’re soft-ish, then attach it to your front door area.

The "fangs" in the front are called pedipalps. They are use as a sensory organ plus the enlarged ones on the males assist in mating. The two little spikes on the rear are spinnerets and used for making the web.

I love your new mold, I just wish I wasn't so far away or I would order one. The little parts on the spiders bottom are called Spinneret it is where the Web come out. Best of luck with the new mold.

Would it be possible to make a mold that had bended legs? So that it looks like it's crawling. I just watched my spiders, they always have their legs bent somewhere even when they're relaxing. The thickness and the bend of the leg is what makes them the most real I guess. It's beautiful it certainly better than I could do. It's still very endearing. I mean if you love spiders the way I do.

You could pull it out while still a bit malleable and manipulate the leg positions, I think. Though, from her commentary, I think they may already be somewhat bent the way you’ve described.

As Cynthia said see if you can flew the leg into the desired position prior to the resin setting solid. Two problems arise. 1 holding the legs in the desired position 2 getting the legs even so you don’t have a spider wobbling too and fro whilst sitting on your table or shelf. Anyone what would I know. I’m probably wrong but I hope you try to make one. Good luck.

One alternative, especially if you have a deep pour resin, would be to put flexible wire in the legs. Then when it's at the same stage she unmolds to make bowls you could pose the legs how you want them. I don't know if that is feasible but it would be interesting to try.

Cephalothorax then the abdomen and the two at the back are spinneretes. That’s around the size of an Australian Bird Eating Spider.

I measure my molds with 90% alcohol. Then I know how much resin is needed and it evaporates quickly
