Just so everyone is aware, this is 100% my fault. This sub is 2000watts rated, and I was pushing 5500+ through it on music for over 3 minutes. If I had turned it down any sooner, the sub would still be just fine. No biggy though, I have a re-cone with a zv6 coil going in this weekend! Stay tuned :)
@@josecunsako31 You'll be splitting the power between two subs, and if you are going full tilt use all of your senses. Make sure you aren't clipping, and most of all, use your nose. If something doesn't smell normal, it most likely means something is getting too hot. Allow them to cool off sometimes, or just don't go absolutely full tilt all the time. Lol
Thanks for showing its limits😳😳😳😳Well I just bought 2 new 18v3's and now I think I should had blown the budget on 2 zv6's????......may I ask, how many cubes was that box and what was the port area?
@@SingleSubScrub I know, but when you have the doors closed your cabin has a certain resonant frequency where it peaks, it effects how the woofer moves and handles power. Loading and unloading is huge in a ported box. When it's playing full tilt and a door suddenly opens, it changes the frequency of your cabin in your vehicle drastically in a short amount of time WHILE the subs are already seeing big power and moving, that can be bad. Go open up someones door running huge power during a demo at a show and watch how bad you get beat up for unloading their shit lol
Just a tip , if you smell smoke from the sub play some low frequencies at medium volume to cool the coil off 😎 although that one might have been a bit too late for that 😄 nice setup tho man. Love the 4runner.
Opening doors full tilt can cause the enclosure to unload and in turn blow your sub totally understand the over powering it for so long but do you think it may have unloaded when you opened the door
U run cmax if u can't charge it to 100% soc? Wouldn't lto be a much better option? U r about 40% soc at 15.5 so u basically have 22 ah of battery, I run my smart fives to 16. 6 without issue
I'd run higher voltage but I am on one alt feeding my vehicles ecu and whatnot as well. And running anything above 16.2 drastically shortens the life of the bank form what I've heard
@@SingleSubScrub what I did to combat the ho voltage to the. Ecu is run a 12-12 dc charger made by victron I use both my dual Alts for 16v then use the victron to run the vehicle, my vehicle draws about 33 amps max at cold start idle, I run two so I am not max either box out, they r 30 amps each
I am gonna build a subwoofer wall in my car with 4 xv3 15s or maybe 6 xv3 12s. How much power should i give them if i wanna play music for hours without overheating them? Or is it okay to give them 5000 watts each if i just dont turn up the bass or gain too much?
Can I ask you about your alt??? So I’ve read nothing but bad about power bastards but I own a Volvo xc90 and they’re the only ones with a off the shelf alt I actually ordered one before I read about them then freaked and cancelled the order.
I have a Power Bastards also. Nothing but good to say about them. I have reached out to other owners who have had their alternators for over a year from them and still going strong.
@@cuh_2023 no vocals so it kinda sounds like it’s underwater? I’ve heard that the quality of it isn’t that good and that the smart is better but I don’t know I don’t want to waste $500 to find out I don’t like it
It ate the power fine for short runs. The problem was I got out of the truck and let it keep eating without the ability to smell when it was time to cool down lol.
I've got 8 xv3 18 s,I'll be running the cab 45 clones , Mr music man ear Candy,3800,s.hope she does well ,it will be awhile I'm worse than sound man🤣🤣🤣🤣
I don't play decaf. and re-bassed songs are actually more safe, as you can tune your system for the exact level the song is mixed at. Just make sure you source them from a producer who knows what they're doing.
@@SingleSubScrub ah, actually normal smart 5k is better, it has higher rail voltage of 178v, mosfets have 200v limit, in smart 5 bass they needed to use higher current mosfets to handle 0.5 ohms so they used 150v rail voltage with 150v mosfets basicly dead on maximum mosfet rating, has less power becouse of lower rail voltage, it can fail easier if theres some voltage ringing on rail or some voltage spikes, but still they are great amps, i hope to get one soon
Lol I know my system, and how it's tuned. Definitely wasn't clipping at all. And you definitely haven't seen an Xv3 take 5k clamped all day. 3" coils top out around 3k clamped in terms of being able to play for long durations of time. The more power you clamp, the less time you can play before overheating.
@@agallo121 dude your amp is poop comparing to a smart 5. There no telling what hz that song is at plus we don't know the ohm load the amp was seeing when playing that song. All we know is the smart technology gave the subwoofer max power at any ohms making it heat up really fast
@@alanclark9000 okay so an Ampere 5k is poop? Really dude?. Check yourself . You obviously know nothing about components level circuitry. Or you would not of said that ludicrous remark without knowing what amp I have. I would not put that much power on them daily myself, that's for you number chasers I believe it just turns to heat after so much. I see guys do it all the time. I won't go down to thus level discussion on these basic antics but dude. Be somebody.
better than last time, who's installing your stuff dude ? if its you,STOP if its someone else beat down.or oh i know, the sub killed itself due to bad music the lyrics made it go nooo i can stand this crap ka boom or poof smoke,at least you laughed i would have been like can yall believe this crap, this is how my luck is every day.so what did you get now ? sorry for joking around dude, its late im bummed, this country is going to sh*t.
