DerLetzeReiter damn son that was depressing as hell. I moved to Denmark to live as an au pair for two years so I go to language school, work part time and don’t pay any rent. I may never own home. But in a sense that also means I will never be tied to one place. Plus Canada froze student loan payments for six months due to COVID 🙏 my parents had three kids and are now stuck supporting two of them possibly forever. So I probably will never have kids either... anywho, I hope you can find someway of injecting some positivity into your life soon friend.

@@AnkhAnanku These are solitary wasps, not social ones. They only come together for mating. Then the female goes digging in search of beetle larvae to lay eggs on. It's common among Hymenopterans for females to have a plumper gaster (butt sections) and males to have slimmer gasters. There are often other morphological differences between sexes that differ from species to species as well. But telling the difference can often be hard without having a male and female right next to each other if you aren't frequently seeing and sexing a given species (unless you've got all the morphological differences stored in your brain like Tony does for all the plants). But remember that all Hymenopteran males are haploid (1 of each chromosome), not diploid (2). Unlike us, the way an egg turns into a male is if it is unfertilized and just has mom's half of the DNA. Any Hymenopteran egg that is fertilized becomes female. Only females are diploid. When you've got that big of a difference in genomes between male and female, you can appreciate that that's going to look different. Plus females needing all the egg-producing machinery in their gasters is why they tend to be a bit plumper.

After watching his video, how much of the geology or botany can you remember? I enjoy these videos; they're very entertaining and his enthusiasm is infectious, but I'm not learning much of this stuff by sitting on my ass and watching a video. If I'm lucky I can remember half a dozen clear facts from a half hour video. Both teaching and learning are active, not passive - here he's doing all the work. I think you're underestimating the work that the majority of teachers put into their jobs or how they would do if given the opportunity to take their students out into the world more often.
