Its nice to see other people Giving the SOHC a chance to shine! Everyone says your build goals are 200hp? And they say this and that about their B and K and i get it. The B and K and J and F are GREAT engines at pumping hp out but they don't realize how little hp it actually takes for a D series to be quick. Love the video! Thanks for sharing it! I have been sharing it to show that the D16 aint no punk.

I race 5.0s and camaros out here in cali and ever since I came across my rare 92 civic ex sedan made stock with 1.6 vtec stick wit turbo setup I never looked back lol

Did you sell the D civic or is that what your building for 500 and 10's. Great video, we raced in sabin mn at Top End. What ended up being your best pass in the 1/4? I just got done building and racing a turbo D hatch all season. The D16 is a solid cheap platform.

It's just the matter of who drives the car knowing the car's capability and wether they know how to race or not! Having a fast car don't really mean anything if the driver don't know what they're doing! In my case I'm a noob so don't judge me ;)

Ok Tong Yang finally got my D16Y8 tuned today. Made only 134 whp and 97tq i wanted more.... Tuner said thats all he can do with stock header and cat and exhaust. Anyone with similar results?

Keep up with stock B16s eh? It's very hard to top a B16, especially if it has bolt ons. I told my co worker (who's a domestic big block kinda guy) about the B16A and when I mentioned the 165 horsepower figure on the 97CI motor he told me the article was fake and my sources are bull. The guy had never heard of a 100HP/liter engine before. What a shame. I was talking to the guy from Jasper and when I mentioned that a K20a2 head will add 80HP to an otherwise stock K24, his eyes bulged and he looked at me like I was insane. It'll still get 30+ MPG too and have enough torque to roast 2nd gear. The reason I love the little old D16 is that they're cheap. $1000 to build the motor, block and head. Told my coworker that and he said it would take at least $3000. I'm not sure if it costs $2000 to bore cylinders and put pistons on rods, but that seems kinda high. The stock sleeves will hold any streetable amount of power, and a CXRacing T04E will make 400WHP for $200 with a low probability of failure. By my estimates you could have a 400WHP motor and turbo kit for little more than $2000. $600 into an LSD and then a big chunk of change into a twin disc clutch would allow you to get the power down on the track and drive like stock on the street. Honestly though I'm thinking of a milder GT25 build, if the motor proved reliable after a year I might pull off the T3 to T28/25 adapter and just bolt on a T04E and retune it. That would cost $200 plus a professional tune if I so desire.

Help I need some advice I just bought my project civic sadly it was a dx so it only has 1.6 4 cylinder non-vtec. I wanna build it with a h22a3 so I can turbo it in the end but that’s currently very high in price so I have been debating on just building this d16y7 full NA then taking it out and upgrading pistons and rods then slapping a turbo on it. Now is it worth it to throw my money into this engine or just save up for the h22a3

Man you pulling on b18c1 also , i dyno my gsr and i did 160whp bone stock now im starting a little build , 12.7 to 1 pistons , ported head , skunk2 cams , ported manifold , 70mm tb , tri y headers , head package , arp studs . My goal is 200whp on 91 and a little more on e85 but if i do more ill be happy . Going on 1900lbs crx so ill be happy with my shit .
