JULIE. I just discovered that you can dust your molds with fine glitter and get a similar effect that you get with the foils. DID YOU KNOW THIS? The possibilities are endless. Endless I say.
I used this mold to make dragon cup for my niece. Heavens to Betsy it was such a pain in the butt! Came out super cool in the end but I wanted to throw that mold away when I was done lol
I bet if you added a wee bit of glitter to your black, it would diminish the appearance of those little bubbles. I love these unique, cool little coasters. Love to see you make more.👍🏼💕
For your leftover resin, when you want to poor out the leftover, but you just need a little more. I bought some small stones at the hobby shop, neon pinks, green, blue. They are real stones so its even mor cool. So for the 2 hearts, i’d just drop a couple of these neon rocks into the leftover. Just a thought. I think i need to make myself a RU-vid page for all the tips.
I bet you it’s a clay/fondant mould Julie, they don’t have sides and you just make your impression and cut around it, I have bought a few moulds that have been sold as resin moulds but have been made for clay/fondant
They are, they’re made by Katy Sue Designs in uk. They are mainly for cake decorators but can be used for a whole range of mediums. I have loads of their moulds including this set. Very high quality.
7:24 The middle is higher than the outside, because these aren't resin moulds, they're for creating an impression - pressing _in_ to things like cake fondant and clay. What you've done is created a successful hack! 🤗
I am so fricken messy, so I would use some tape around the border of the eyes. To where the tape would create a border. I use the let’s resin tape, and it’s so amazing.
These are SO COOL! Even though the claws and eyes aren’t quite as “shimmery” when embedded in the resin, they are perfect! It gives them sort of a dark, stormy, creepy vibe, which I think works beautifully with the dragon theme. Love them!
Absolutely beautiful as always, Julie! I would like to give u a suggestion for the next time u do these, I think it would look awesome if u could somehow make it look like the claws are tearing through the background. That might b a stretch to pull off, but if anyone can do it, u can!
They are Katy Sue moulds that are made for fondant and paper clay. I have then and they are fab! I have some resin tape you can put around the sides of the eye mould so the resin doesn’t over flow the edges. Never thought of using them to put into coasters though! Great video as always Julie!
I would love to se this again with maby somehow adding a full scaled background to it I think they would look absolutely amazing..always love your creations and so do my children
I make molds and buy molds, in the case of these eyes, I would clean the mold really well and add a bead of clear silicon where the edge is. This way i can fill past the original molds height. Sanding a little is better than trying to fix a mistake.
Hi Julie! I’m not a dragon fan BUT these have turned out AMAZING! Your labor of love paid off! With the clear top coat it looks like you’re looking under water when viewed from the edge- sooo cool!!!
I used these molds with polymer clay and made a plaque for my grandson's room. I couldn't imagine pouring resin in the mask. You did a great job though, they look wonderful.
Stunning, but I’m wondering if the iris should be black and the pupil the bronze colour with a small dot on the iris. I kept thinking that the eye colours are back to front. However, a really interesting video seeing how you work through a new and testing mold. Great work Julie. 👏🏻🌺🌴
@@PouringYourHeartOut I wish I could but cannot afford it but I love what you do, I enjoy watching to be honest I get excited just like you with unmolding to see end results, thank you for replying tho 😊
Having your husband be so thoughtful is definitely something I’m so glad was I’m your video. You are blessed is so so many way. Plus I couldn’t imagine coasters with dragon claws and eyes but you’re blessed with a great eye for art as well
You've done a marvelous job here, Julie! I really love these molds. The bubbles make it look like a clear, starry midnight sky behind the dragon eyes and claws. It's absolutely gorgeous! I love watching your videos, and I learn so much from them as well. Thank you!!!!
I just LOVE YOUR CHANNEL. ❤️ your enthusiasm and cute jokes and commentary on your art 🎨 is captivating. I love learning from your mistakes and perfect artwork. 🥰 Thank you so much...
I made 6 dragon tumblers and matching eye coasters using those eyes and claws... My molds are soft and pink. I do like the fact I can pour them not so full and they are not so high. Nice job Julie....very cute. Hugs Sheryl 💙🎨💙
I got a let's resin mould, and i made an art geode with some let's resin glass shards, and glass from the Dollar Tree!!! I can't wait to try these powders, Mrs. Julie always makes fantastic stuff!!!
The reason ppl were saying don't do flashy lights or put a warning if you do it is because flashy lights can set of seizures for ppl who have epilepsy! Hope that helps.. Just wanted you to know ppl weren't trying to be rude or troll or anything like that they said it bc its a serious thing.. Loved this design thanks for sharing hun!! 😁😁
Hi Julie. Sorry I have been absent. I have been really sick and nearly died. I am slowly starting to heal. Have missed you a lot. Just hoping to heal faster
It's definitely a mould for fondant or clay. I have the set and that's what I was using it for today. I don't do much with resin, but I'm gathering ideas for future makes.
Usually, you do things first and if there is a problem, I know what to avoid. In this case, I have this mold, and had the same problems you did. Great idea to snip that extra piece of silicone off. I got this to do a stash box with a gothic book look and quickly realized it was for clay. Still works though!
You need a mini crepe tool to spread out the resin 🤣 ...Greetings from Wollongong NSW....just found your channel and love it...very new to resin and having a blast experimenting!!
Hiya, not sure if anyone else has said this, but the reason there isn't any sides to the eye mould, is because it wasn't designed for use with resin. I t was designed for use with polymer clay and other clays. They are used a lot for note book covers. Love what u did with them though and u could maybe add some silicone around the edge of the eye mould to make it like a more traditional resin mould. All the best, Diane, UK xx
Those dragon coasters are cool and mysterious..I love the darker colors against the black..Could you do a bright green or emerald color with the same molds? Beautiful results on Both Molds..💖
I love this. Could you have used a sharpie black marker to outside the eyelid and remove the little bit of gold or would sharpie not work? I love these!!!
I really like how you are willing to try new things even when you're not sure how they will turn out. I appreciate you sharing your trials, errors and successes with us. I would definitely say this was a success. Really cool video. I love the idea. Thanks for sharing! Looking forward to the next one.
Your dragon mold was the first thing I saw, looooooooove it, and now dragon claws and eyes. I love these ❤️ Follow up question: I’m not familiar with resin other than people can do some amazing pieces, so I was curious about something. You use black as a backer for these pieces and a few others I’ve seen you do, but could someone use white or a frosty blue to give them a frosted or winter look? I know, very restrictive look since it’d be snowy in a sense, just was more curious if that would work or if white would just make it flat looking.
You can use any colour you want the only reason people use black is because it gives the strongest colour result, I have seen people use a light blue/green chameleon pigment powder to dust the mould and use white pigment paste to colour the resin for a really cool icy look!
In some types of color shifting pigment, it'll be a different color over light colors vs dark. Like, blue over black, pink over white etc. And vice versa. They're sometimes marketed as unicorn or pearl pigment when meant to be used over light colors.
